My boyfriend and I went and had breakfast at The Dutch Mill for the first time. We had high hopes considering it looked family owned and we love brunch style menus. We were greeted by a not so friendly server who commenced to tell us to sit anywhere. After trying to navigate the overly complicated menu, our server came and took our order. I ordered the french toast and a side of crispy bacon and my boyfriend ordered eggs, toast, home fries, medium bacon and pancakes. The wait wasnt long when our meal started to arrive in portions. The crispy bacon that I had ordered was so black and overcooked that it turned to dust when touched. After taking a few bites of my thin and wonder bread like french toast, I noticed a brown, curly hair swimming in the maple syrup. Across the table, my boyfriend was experiencing his own breakfast disaster. His toast was more like soggy bread. His scrambled eggs were overcooked, brown, and dry. The home fries were more like plain, under-seasoned fried potatoes. We tried to get the managers attention when he was dropping the pancakes off, but he ran away so fast and ignored us as we tried to bring his attention to the hair. We proceed to stare at this hairy french toast for another twenty minutes before the server comes over and asks us if we need anymore coffee. We politely refuse and point out the hair. She says something about a brush, doesnt apologize, and runs back to the kitchen with the hairy plate. We both work in the restaurant business and know what is to be expected. We also know that these things happen all the time and we are usually pretty tolerant when it comes to complaining. But this was just wrong in every way imaginable. The server never once communicated with us about the food. Not even a "How is everything?". We never even got a chance to tell her about anything other than the french toast and even then she couldnt apologize or offer any remorse. She comped the french toast and coffee off of our bill and at this point we are just ready to leave. We waited again, card in book at the end of table, for another ten minutes as she ignored us walking by several times. Finally, we just walk up to the front counter to pay for it ourselves. As we are standing there paying for the disappointing meal, a man in the kitchen begins hollering "Hey guys!" waving a butter brush saying: "This is what was in your food guys, not a hair." Again, we both work in the business and know the difference between hair and a plastic butter brush bristle. We shake our heads, pay for the meal, and leave unhappy and disappointed patrons. Hopefully this will offer some insight on your next brunch location.

Its a small, somewhat outdated space, but the dining room was clean and comfortable and pretty full. The service was a bit slow to order, but the food came quickly and the server was friendly. I had the Kitchen Sink breakfast which consisted of a grilled biscuit topped with sausage patties, home fries, scrambled eggs, and sausage gravy. The food was nothing to write home about. The sausages were preformed patties, the biscuits were probably prepackaged, and the taste of pepper overpowered pretty much everything else. The dish came served in a small metal chafing dish, hence the name Kitchen Sink. I couldnt decide if this idea was cute and fun or kind of weird and embarrassing. The portion size was over the top, so I had lunch on the left overs. Id recommend this place for a quick, inexpensive breakfast or lunch.

Im apprehensive with small places like this, but the Dutch Mill was a treat! The eggs Benedict was spectacular. Im not a connoisseur of hollandaise but it was particularly lovely. My mom loved the corn beef hash as well, and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. The staff were efficient and thoughtful, and at one point the lights were turned off and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday to a customer. Everything was great, everyone should try it!

Like most things in life its all about setting expectations. If youre looking for good diner style food this is the spot for you, if youre looking to rival the culinary experience of some of the more hipster oriented breakfast sports in the area you are certain to be let down. Great corned beef hash given the setting. Also they have some creative Benedict offerings.

Excellent breakfast spot. I have not been for lunch yet so I cannot judge. Very good service very good price. If you plan on going on Sunday call ahead and make a reservation. There doesnt appear to be any wait during the week.

It looks a bit unattractive from the outside, but the food is awesome. They grill steak, roast beef, pulled pork on their outside grill. I recommend the open-faced sandwich with gravy.

Went for a breakfast, hope to return soon. The place looks like nothing but feels like a real family restaurant. Best meal that made me happy to skip IHOP.

Love the "Egg Roll" style for the burrito I had for breakfast. They are open super early every day and that is great for an early riser like myself.

Looks more inviting once inside. Delicious simple breakfast. Could use some more flavourful bacon. I would come back on the next trip.

The food was overcooked. Not to mention the run down, unclean, 1970s decor. I dont even want to imagine what their kitchen looks like.
