They claim Crown Burger is king of the pastrami burger. They are wrong. California Burger has the best pastrami burger in the Wasatch. Not only is California Burger delicious and fresh, it provides a unique flare with a touch of Korea. Try the fry-sauce, you wont find anything like it in Salt Lake City. The California Burger is satisfying: bacon and pastrami on two golden buns with cheese, fresh vegetables, and their house sauce. This is not the best known establishment yet when I return to Salt Lake City I will regret it if I dont return to California Burger as well.

I work near here. The food is good. Wait times at lunch can be long if you arrive when West High students swarm the place. So I often go in the evening when there is no line. Help varies but none are overly friendly. On the up side they bring the food to your table. But my biggest complaint is the dining room. In the evening it should be spotless when they are not busy. But there is little attention spent in making sure the tables are clean. Chairs are greasy. Even the number tags are greasy. Expect a greasy environment with good burgers and that is what you get.

Greaaaat fries. I have to say I was pretty surprised how good the fries was (the Hawaiian burger I got was good too). I am picky on my fries but these are up there in the top. Their fries sauce is really good also, I am not sure what they add in there but it is not the usual stuff you get out there. When I went with my friend for a quick lunch today, I was expecting Crown burger quality which I am not a fan of, but this place was much better than I expected. I would not mind going back there.

Been here a few times on lunch break. It can be slow and crowded due to the kids from the school near by, and theres not much parking, and communication can be an issue sometimes. But otherwise this place is perfect. Ive had the mushroom burger and standard double cheeseburger and the quality is apollo burger or better and the price is cheaper. The ingredients are all great, even the desserts, and Ive always left satisfied. The menu is abundant in options. I recommend it and will return.

If you come here you might find me here as well. It is a great little secret not well know to many. The food is amazing. They have some of the greatest burgers out there. They also offer onion rings with your fries if you want for no extra charge! Who does that! Just be aware if you go during school hours you will probably have students from the school across the street. They can be a little rowdy at times but thats my only complaint. And its way cheap.

This place is just strange to me. The food is decent, stopping just short of good. The wait takes forever no matter how long the line is. None of the workers seemed to be in particularly warm moods. ...And then there is the lunch rush of the all the West High students. Im not that old, but damn, it is funny to be surrounded by them. In spite of all this, I have gone back twice for decent but not great food. I cant really make heads or tails of the place.

This place had some pretty dang good food. The prices were reasonable as well. The sub sandwich I got had a decent amount of meat on it and was pretty filling. The only reason I hold back the 5th star is because of the nickel and diming. They limit you to 2 fry sauce containers and 1 soda refill. I feel like thats a little ridiculous. Bottom line, Id go back for the food, but the mentioned items irk me.

Im visiting SLC I was craving a burger so a friend took me to this restaurant because it was on the way back to his place. I had the Hawaiin Burger, and it was pretty good! It is family owned, and they give good customer service. I did overhear an adjoining table compliment the establishment as well on their food. I will be returning a few times before I leave SLC. I would recommend this place!

Used to go there during school lunch for West High School. Love their fry sauce and burgers, their ice cream cone flavors are amazing. Just one problem to everyone else, if your going there i advise you not to go between 10:50 AM - 11:20 AM and 12:26 PM - 1:00 PM because these are the launch times for West High School and when everyone is out for launch, this place is packed.

Great service, amazing fresh food and a lot of options to choose from. This is my families go-to if were feeling hungry and not in the mood to cook. Owners are really nice, and food is made promptly. I usually order a burger with no bun and they package it so nicely, that its not a complete mess when I get home to enjoy. Oh and by the way, the fry sauce is amazing..

I wasnt expecting much coming here but was pleasantly surprised. I wanted to try someplace new and this was close by so I gave it a shot. The restaurant was really clean and the staff was friendly. I got a cheeseburger and fries combo. It was comparable to Crown Burger in quality and size but substantially cheaper. I would go back again.

The owner Lee, is always friendly and knows exactly what we like. Their teryaki chicken salad is unbelievable. My brother and sister in law couldnt believe the size quality price and flavor. They loved it. We eat there at least 2 times a month and it has become one of our favorite eating joints. Highly recommend it. Brad and Brenda

Great local place. The owners are nice and care about what they make. The food is delicious, it is nice to see a meat slicer and know that all your food is being made when you order it, rather than sitting under a heat lamp! Super cheap, especially for the quality! Try the French dip and their cravable home made fry sauce!

Good service. Good burgers. Good fries, onion rings, and fry sauce. I like to get their burger specials that include a drink, two onion rings, and fries for around $7 or $8. Avoid school lunch hours during the school year to avoid the crowd of high schoolers this popular place. I believe it is family owned and operated.

The burgers and fries are amazing! They are cooked to order and always served with their homemade fry sauce. I cant believe I dont eat here more often since it is literally down the street from my house. The owner works the counter and his wife is on the grill. It doesnt get more mom and pop than this place. Eat local!

One does not simply stop eating because they are full. The quality of food I received was much greater than the cost of it. They do have some seemingly strange limitations on refills and condiments that most people take for granted, but it is across from a school so I cant knock them for it. The fry sauce blew my mind!

This was our first visit to Utah and we ate at California Burgers and Deli on both our first and last day--it was awesome! The burgers, fries, rice bowl, and smoothies were excellent and very reasonably priced. The owner was kind and friendly. We would definitely recommend making this a stop while in SLC!
