I never give poor reviews but I was really disappointed in the food here. I had someone recommend Restaurant Morelia to me a couple of days ago & I was excited because they seemed like they knew what they were talking about & then I looked at the google reviews & thought 4.2 out 5 stars was good enough to take a flyer on. My family and I decided to make a special occasion out of it and go during my lunch hour. Maybe my expectations were too high. It did take us forever to find a parking spot. There was a wait. I expected both of those things based on reviews. This is not authentic Mexican food, its very Americanized...but thats to be expected. I actually know a few people who are from the city of Morelia in Michoacan, Mexico and had held out a little bit of hope that there would be some authentic Mexican dishes but to no avail (and, again, not a big deal). The food was just not very good. The salsa was fresh but lacked flavor and spice. This was a theme. I added salt to try and bring the flavor out in their house salsa. They didnt even have something on the table like a Cholula, Tapatio, or Valentina sauce that you could add to anything. But they make sure to fill 25% of the entree plate with shredded lettuce, a sliced beet (what?!), and some sort of green garnish that has no place on a Mexican dish. The chips were ok & they refilled them as needed. The chili verde burrito with rice and beans is what I ordered. I didnt finish it. I rarely do not finish an entree. The chili verde had an ok flavor but no spice and there wasnt very much cheese on the burrito (if any, I really cant recall and I just went there a few hours ago). The meat looked and tasted like mystery meat. If I was in the mood for Americanized Mexican food I would drive a couple of miles down the road to La Puente on State and 3500 S (the best La Puente location) and get a smothered burrito with cheese (and DELICIOUS chili verde sauce). If someone were to try and tell me that the chili verde burito from Morelia was better than the smothered burrito from this La Puente location I could never be friends with that person.

Horrible experience with the "owner of 27 years". Ordered my regular meal which is a bean and cheese burrito with a side of bean and cheese. Ive been going there and getting the same thing for 20 plus years and its always been around $6. Today I get there and its $8. They charge me separately $2 for the beans and almost $2 separately for the cheese. I paid more for the side than my actual meal!! Then he proceeds to give me attitude and says "tell me who you saw that wasnt charging you correctly and Ill have them fired"... Youre going to fire all the servers who have worked at your establishment over 20 years?? Maybe its not your servers but your pricing! Dont get me wrong... Its $2, not a big deal but the owners customer service was HORRIBLE!! Your food is good but not that good. With service like that Ill find another restaurant with comparable food and better customer service.

Hands Down the Best, Fresh Salsa I have ever tasted! Its more like Pico de Gallo- love the fresh tomatoes, onions and cilantro!-- you can even buy their salsa "to go" and take home to enjoy! Im also a fan of their Chicken Chimichanga-- unlike so many places, Morelias Chimi is actually filled with meat, not a bunch of rice and beans taking up space! This place is not spicy, but it is super fresh, with lots of real cheese (not fake, processed dribble-- no "nacho cheese" sauce here). Love it! Missed it tremendously when I lived out of Utah. Morelia is Friendly, Family-owned and simply the Best Authentic Mexican in Town!

Restaurant Morelia is a wonderful family owned Mexican food Restaurant. Many of the recipes have been handed down including the chili verde. The salsa is made fresh each morning with fresh ingredients. (I asked the waitress) This is a great place to bring your family for a quick meal that wont break the bank. Dont be intimidated if there is a line, things move very quickly. As a side note, this is a local business run by a local family the owner is a good man who gives jobs to local people and young people. You do more than eat good food at this restaurant, you support local people and jobs.

Maybe this place is considered good Mexican food by Utah standards, but if you have ever enjoyed Mexican anywhere else this place is sure to disappoint. The food is incredibly bland. I think they only use cheddar cheese and their "hot" sauce is watery pico de galo. If your previous experiences with Mexican food are limited to Taco Time and Cafe Rio then you may find this place appealing. Otherwise you would be better served finding somewhere else

Yikes! The first clue as you walk in is that its patrons are little kids and really old people. These are those who dont know any better or whose digestive tract cant handle anything but hospital food. It is a shame this establishment carries the appellation of "Morelia"as its menu bears absolutely no resemblance of the gastronomic delights that come from that beautiful part of Mexico. They should rename this place "Los Hermanos-Salt Lake."

Everything about your place is amazing! Great ice cold beer in an ice cold glass! And, the food is phenomenal! Best Mexican Cantina that Ive found in Salt Lake County and that says a lot. I think Ive tried all of them...maybe. :) Last and most important, the service was amazing!! I wish I would have gotten our waiters name but just know everyone is so friendly! Thanks for a great eating experience Morelia!

Do not go here they have the worst customer service Ive ever seen. The workers were extremely rude to us. Sat several tables in front of us after our name was on the list. Then said they had a party of 55 coming after we waited for 45 min. You couldnt tell us that when we put our name down???? We left went to SU casa right down the street had great food and fabulous customer service!

Jessica Gadd, do you even know what food is? Anyone that has said this place has food that resembles dog food obviously has no idea about authenticity. You must also think Cafe Rio is Mexican food right? This place has been a staple in Utah for a reason, the food comes from actual recipes not pinterest. Save this restaurants time and eat your "authentic" TV dinner at home.

Love this place! Id eat here every day if I could. A little different type of Mexican food but great none the less, chile verde, beef tacos, nachos, chimichangas, and churros are my go to. And thank goodness they have Pepsi products, cause nothing is better with Mexican food than Mtn Dew. Great service, family environment, always friendly and get food in a timely manor

The food was bland, canned, and greasy. The Chile Verde looked like dog food on top of a burrito filled with mush. Literally the worst Mexican food Ive ever had. I dont understand how they could say they were Authentic Mexican. We were all done eating 5 minutes after receiving our plates. I do NOT recommend this place. Save your money, and go somewhere else.
