Negative experiences #1; A group of ladies went to Zuccas during the holidays for dinner before a play. My pizza & another ladys pizza was burned beyond consumption. I took mine home to show my husband. #2: A group of ladies went to Zuccas at the end of May. My bill was $15. The receipt the server gave me was for $10.25 (with tip $14) Instead of cheating them out of the difference, I brought it to the managers attention. The server had charged me the same as one of the other ladies that was with me. The manager then charged me $18 for my $15 meal & told me Id have to wait 3-4 weeks for my credit card to be credited for the $10.25 ($14 actually due to the tip) charge. Excuses were made about the computer system - not the incompetent server. Of course they were closing in 4 weeks so I watched it carefully. No credit to card so at 4 weeks (5 days prior to their closing) I called & was told to "stop by". I did & after waiting while the manager disappeared, I was given a $20 bill & a couple of free appetizer & dessert coupons. Being the dense person that I am, we invited visiting friends from California to join us for lunch on the 25th (3 days prior to their closing). I called on the 24th to make a reservation & requested a particular table to be seated at. The server I spoke with was very accommodating & thorough in taking my requests. He even repeated it to be certain that he had it correct. Upon arrival at noon (the reserved time) I saw that the seating we had requested was not available (given to someone else) & when I told the server who greeted us (not the one who took the reservation) he just smiled & shrugged his shoulders. I also told the manger I was unhappy & he just said-"Yes, I know. Its my fault," We had the same server who screwed up my bill in May so I was not happy about that. She said "Do you want someone else to wait on you?" - in front of our guests! I said "No". Two of us ordered wine. She slammed my glass down on the table in front of me but gently sat the other glass in front of my friend. The other friend ordered fries with his sandwich. She brought him pasta salad. All 4 of us heard him order fries (he never said any other item) but she said "Oh I didnt hear you change your mind. What!! She is too spacey to be a server. Her skills (??) are not compatible with serving the public. I dont know if well check out their new place on 25th when they open. So far all of our attempts to eat there- with the exception of one other time- have been very negative. From the hostess to the manager to the server its been negative. The food is acceptable if you order certain items. Salads are okay, pizzas burned. pasta-depends on the day & what you order. South Ogden needs a great restaurant!! There are SO many of us that would support one! 25th Street does not need one more restaurant. I know that Mr. Dean needs to make money to survive & he must think that 25th Street if where all the action is but if hed just get a few important factors correct-like the waitstaff & upgrade to gourmet food-hed have more business than he could shake a stick at! Wed rather drive to SLC that down to 25th Street & fight the parking mess & mediocre food.

I WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. This restaurant has the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. I went there for a second time last night, simply for ToGo. I waited in the lobby for a hostess for over 10 minutes. Keep in mind, the restaurant was NOT busy. The hostesses and Waiters were just chatting up a storm. Once finally greeted, the hostess went to go get my check, and I waited another 10 minutes. Once she finally returned and handed me the receipt for my order, I see I was charged 35$ for a item that I was sure was only 20$ I asked to see the menu, and sure enough my item was 20$. I told the hostess and responded with "Ummm... ToGo is extra" I was very shocked to hear that. Not only was I not notified of a charge for take out orders, but an additional 15$???? I asked how thr "Take Out Fees" worked, and she said "Uhmmm... I dont know. ..well you also exchanged your potatoes for lettuce. They probably charged you extra for that too." I let her know the woman I spoke with over the phone notified me there would be no additional charge. The hostess looks at the receipt once more and responds with " Yeah... I dont know what to tell you. Thats just how it is." I asked to see her manager and she dramatically sighed and went to go get him. I WAITED 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE MANAGER CAME TO ME. He apologized and said "We dont even have anything on our menu that is that expensive. Not even the specials. I dont know what happened" No "Take Out Charges" and no substitution charges. He told me he would just go and quickly refund my money, and then be right back. I was so relived he was so easy to work with, and was ready to get home to eat! I WAITED ANOTHER 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE HOSTESS RETURNED WITH MY REFUND. She handed it to me, shrugged, and said "sorry that took kinda long" To make matters worse, 1 meal out of the 2 that was ordered was missing, luckily I noticed before I was on my way. I had been there for an HOUR AND 20 MINUTES before I was able to walk out of the door with my food and money in hand. As if that wasnt enough, my meat was servery undercooked and my boyfriends chicken was burnt.

There wasnt a whole lot on the menu that interested me. Lots of mushrooms, which I love, but make me sick. And lots of fennel, which Im not fond of. I did manage to find some things that suited me, however, it was limited. The bread was very good. The minestrone soup was good, but uninspiring, and I had to wait about 5 or 10 minutes for a spoon. The capellini puttanesca was absolutely delicious. But I was kind of disappointed because when an menu item such as this (angel hair pasta, olive oil/tomato sauce, capers, kalamata olives, garlic) uses "shrimp" in the description, I expect 5 or 6 pieces of shrimp, maybe 4 at a minimum, since I ordered the half sized plate, but there were only two. It would have been delicious without the shrimp, but the shrimp was the whole reason I ordered it in the first place. My husband had a rustica pizza and a caesar salad. He said that some of the shaved cheese was a bit hard to chew. His pizza was a bit on the bland side and nothing special. I sampled it and thought the egg on it was icky, though he liked it. We didnt order any appetizers, but there really wasnt much on that part of the menu that had us wanting to try any. The tables were way too close together, making my husband and I feel like we didnt want to talk because we didnt want people eavesdropping, whether intentional or not. The too close feeling became excruciating, though, as we were seated next to a couple that were some of the most stuck up, judgmental people Ive ever had to endure. Though there were a few children in the restaurant, I would not recommend bringing a child here. The prices seemed fairly reasonable for the food that was served.
