This place is UNFORGETTABLE! Everything here is unique and perfect. No complex recipes, no prissy disconnected Scottsdale dining, no overdone spices, just perfect food perfectly done. This is the best food Ive had anywhere in the world! Real Italians (to whom English is a second language) will tell you they havent had better even in Italy. The chef is a master butcher, pastry chef, chocolatier, and breadmaker. The meats are cured and butchered ON SITE- the pastries are straight out of a fairy tale, the chocolate is handmade, and the bread will bring you back every day. Everything will be the best you have ever had. The chef has been called "the most underrated chef in the United States" and is praised by customers and critics alike. The more developed your palette, the more you will enjoy Andreoli Italian Grocer. The best way to describe the atmosphere of Andreoli is like if you have ever been traveling abroad where you dont speak the language and serendipitously invited into a friendly locals home for dinner. You never forgot the event- and thats what every trip to Andreoli is like. At Andreoli, you feel like a tourist in Italy whos just been invited into the warmest familys household. As you enter the restaurant you seem to exit time. Its totally unique. Everyone is speaking a different dialect of Italian and you hardly hear any English. Its a SELF SERVE deli (notice most criticisms of this restaurant come from ignorant customers who expected to be waited on) where you might even sit next to the owner and his family! The furniture is all antique brought over from Italy, and could have even been out of his own living room. I havent had one UN-miraculous dish from Andreoli. My favorites are the fried calamari, home made italian sausage sandwich, the al-capone sandwich, the gorgonzola - prosciutto sandwich, the pork sandwich, the white truffle ravioli, the shrimp, the loaf bread, and all desserts. Enjoy several courses and maybe in that span of time a surprise dish or two will randomly appear on the counter, never on the menu, just there because the chef was inspired to make something new. Give it a try. One time I had a pea pod which was better than 99% of the meals I had had in my lifetime. Sound crazy? You will see. The last person I recommended this place to is a world-traveller and CEO of a huge publicly traded company. I treated him on a Saturday and he loved it. When I called him for an unrelated issue on Thursday I heard background noise and asked where he was. He said he was at Andreoli and it was his 5th time in since we had been there for lunch! They arent even open on Sundays so do the math. It equals Andreoli = 8th wonder of the world!

This used to be my favorite place. Now it is The WORST place to eat in this area.I went in and saw an item on the menu for $19.95. Well I found out it was $19.95 a lb/ $86 later I was shocked when I got the item and then when I got the bill! I weight 130 lbs. Do I look like I am going to eat a 3 lb steak? Could the waiter not have clarified this when I ordered it? When I tried to explain this was not what I thought it was ordering I was told "too bad".Dont come back.!! Go someplace friendly where they dont over inflate prices and are friendly owners. Save yourself the aggravation. Send them back where they came from. RUDE RUDE RUDE. Much better Italian places in the area where they are nice and friendly and dont try to rip you off. This place is rated as 1$. Its not. They fool you in $$$$ and it is not worth it. Much better food and atmosphere elsewhere. Their prices are sky high and so is their attitude! Gosh can you imagine trying to speak to the owner and have him shout at you to get out and dont come back! Well I hope he has lots of other customers cuz he just lost 2 Great ones. We used to eat here twice a week. No More!~!

We went here because of the show, Diners, Drive ins and Dives. We were very disappointment! First if all, the featured boiled beef with potatoes is $22.00! So we didnt even bother to try it. The homemade bread highlighted in the show had no flavor! My husband had a sandwich and there was a very scare amount of meat it it. He said the bread was good though. I had squid; It came out drenched in a plate of oil with nothing else on the plate. No bread, no veggie or salad or anything. Some of the pieces were char broil burnt too. With each piece I picked up to eat, I had to let the oil drip off of it before I put it in my mouth. Yuck! The place was small and the chairs uncomfortable. The outside patio was small and dirty. This place was a huge disappointment. I hate writing bad reviews, but I had no choice here.

In Phoenix for the Tempe Brew-N-Que this past weekend from Kansas City and was looking for great Italian deli meats and cheeses for a casual dinner onsite at the event with a friends and great cooks from all over the country. When I found Andreoli I was like a kid in a candy store. Awesome imported meats and cheese plus they bake their own bread. Enjoyed a wonderful cappuccino while waiting for the bread to come out of the oven. They also make all of their own desserts. When Im back in the Phoenix area, I will go out of my way to make it back to Andreoli.

Coming from a Sicilian family back in New York and being a foodie, I was expecting extraordinary cuisine after reading online reviews. I brought my children to sample the menu a few weeks ago. Saying that, we were disappointed beyond belief and the bill of over $65 was hard to pay as the service was not very user friendly, the pasta was not cooked as offered by the owners daughter (boring wet noodles no sauce no flavor), and the portions were not that big. The only redeeming dish was the calimari appetizer. Would not recommend.

This place is extremely over rated! The salad was wilted and very sour. The penne and meat sauce was mediocre at best. The price is truly absurd. Worst of all we ordered pizza for the kids so they wouldnt have to wait and it didnt show up until all the the grown ups where done eating. The staff was snippy and this has all around been a terrible experience. Ive literally had better "italion food" at the Olive Garden. I suggest they shut the doors so no one ever makes the same mistake I did.

I think its overpriced. Came from Boston and ate at the north end all the time ...no comparison. Food ok. Too expensive for what you get...small portions. They have specials that are all over $25.00. Another time went for a cappuccino...got 2 pastries, 2 cappuccinos and the bill came to 40.~ something! The pastry was dry, no flavor. I do like the atmosphere in there though. Cute and quaint, but thats it.

Just bought a piece of the pistachiocake. There was no price on it but okay..its my birthday..why not.? The owner (I think he was) was not friendly...gave us 1 little piece so I asked another piece...he looked mad! Than when we have to pay he charched us almost $15!!! I could get a whole big cake for that price! I know its real Italian and I know I have to pay for something special, but this!!! Never again!
