We first experienced BABBOs Tempe location 2 years ago when my wife and I were celebrating our 18th anniversary. Soon after that, we found out that the Mesa location would be opening soon. Since the Mesa store opened, we have been there no less than twice a month. Most businesses do well with great food. This store has not just great food, but the staff is the friendliest, most dedicated staff I have ever witnessed working together. The design and decor of the store is very inviting. Personally, if I am there in the evening, I love sitting on the patio as close to the fireplace as possible. Although the $5.99 spaghetti and meatballs is great to get people in the door for the first time, there are many other items that I have tried that are just as good, if not better. I really enjoy the pasta rustico. My wife likes the stuffed manicotti and the three cheese mac & cheese. Every time I go, there are 2-3 more items I add to my bucket list to try.

Very nice place. Monday/Tuesday special cant be beat. Sauce is a tad salty though. JANUARY 2017 Edit: I have decided to drop this to 2 stars. Just isnt what it was a year ago. It has been taken over by the over 65 crowd. Hey, if thats your business model, thats cool, but waiting 30 minutes to sit around a bunch of rude old people isnt for me. Also, went to the bar to put in an order and have a beer while I waited for my food. Sad to see prices had been raised. Bartender ignored me for 15 minutes. This is a far cry form my first time a Babbos, on opening night in fact, sitting with the GM in the bar and talking about how great Babbos would be for the neighborhood. They appeared to be a service oriented class act, and were for a while. Now they are just an average Italian restaurant slinging discount Spaghetti to seniors.

Mostly weve ordered take out with mixed results. Ive had very good value meals there, they were and maybe still are offering a stout portion of pasta and meatballs at a special rate on Monday and Tuesday evenings. But I have had an "off" meal there where the pasta sauce was thin and watery and not very much was present. I suspect they dont make fresh pasta either which is a shame for any Italian restaurant. I will also note that consistently their bread is almost inedible. The flavors are right for the bread which is a focaccia style but it is VERY HEAVY and DOUGHY! If theyd improve the bread the restaurant might make it into my "rotation" due to its convenient location.

The smells hit the nose as we walked in, my mother and i. We sit down and the atmosphere is isnt there. We fine on tye house bread and its tasty but not really zinging. So we drink our sodas which is good no complain there. However as i eat the chicken fetticine i notice its lacking. The sauce is bland the chicken is dry and citrusy and overall i feel unsatisfied with the experience. My mother cant enjoy lasagnas like she hoped to because its all cheese and only two layers of noodle wich is unnoticable. So she opts to switch for the spaghethe, of course better but also lacking. As far as babbo goes we have a lack of empethy or connection. Babbo itself is lacking.

First time here. Wait staff was very attentive and quick. Food tasted very well. Came very quick. The shrimp and sausage puttnesca was very spicy. Nose running/ sweating. I would remove the fresh corn from the ingredients, distracting to the eye. Doesnt add any flavor and just doesnt fit. just found out we cannot get our desert selection because cream machine is down. Bummer. But at at least that means its fresh when it works. Bar tender bragged about being bar tender for 14 years but then spoke to customers about Yelp and bad reviews of this restaurant. Very unprofessional. Overall it was a very good meal and well worth the money.

I have been to Babbo about a dozen times. My son referred me and said it was the best Italian food that hed ever eaten. He and his family go there regularly as well. I absolutely love this place! The food is the best and the staff are wonderful. We always feel welcome. Our glasses are never empty and there is always more food than we can eat. (Which means a yummy midnight snack). I cant say enough about this place and the staff and great food! If you havent tried it....I highly recommend it! I dont work there or know anyone there personally so this isnt a "fake" review.

We have been at this location several times since opening. Lately it has been horrible. The staff is unprofessional, waitress is terrible. We brought a couple of friends last night, they were out of sangria for the 4th time, it is happy hours special drink. The waitress ignored our request for a cheese shaker at our table(we found one at another table) she brought the food out cold, never brought butter as we requested and did not refill our water. Not good at all, if we were not with another couple the manager would have been spoken to and we would have left!

Nothing seemed to go right. First pass at moms pesto dish had little pesto or steak, second pass the pesto was watery from not draining the pasta well. Boyfriends dish had little to no sauce. Dad and I were OK with ours. The capper was I couldnt get the parmesan to come out and so I screwed off the lid to find rusty caked on mess! And it wasnt just the one on our table. The Asst Mgr was useless but the store manager made it right and even comped the whole bill. While we used to go regularly, weve seriously cooled off now but will probably go back.

I am visiting from Michigan and have only wonderful things to say about my experience here. I was with a group of approximately 15 and the service, food, and atmosphere was fantastic! Most folks in our party tried different dishes and they all looked amazing! The restaurant staff was very prompt and very friendly. Not sure whats up with previous reviews Ive read, but I would highly recommend giving this restaurant a try and I look forward to coming back next year when I visit again.

The service was good. We ordered an appetizer and was told after that the appetizer we ordered hadnt been prepared that morning. I ordered a chicken dish with capers and the food came out with no capers. When I asked the server came back she said she was so sorry but they had run out of capers. She had said she would get our bill discounted, but did not do so. The food was good though or I would have given less stars.
