Great selection, and they even have a sushi chef that is constantly making some really fancy pieces; also in the dinner menu, they include a Mongolian bbq service where you pick all the ingredients and they cook up your individual dinner! Ive never seen that in a buffet before. I like the fried shrimp on the buffet, and great sticky white rice, also the spring rolls, and the two tables of dessert cookies, rolls, and soft serve ice cream! My daughter loves the fresh fruit, esp the pineapple on the buffet, and the coconut shrimp. We both love the fresh sugar coated donuts (but its hard to even have room for some ice cream and a little donut!!). The place is surprisingly large, and so it never seems crowded. The location is right next door to Half Price Books, near the DQ, exit 205 on I-35. The buffet is huge and includes even Texas style fried chicken. ha ha. Two meals with sodas runs around $22; and the service is quiet, but attentive and fast.We would eat here 4 nites a week if our budget would allow. LOL

Awful. The only time our server glanced at us was when he went to seat us, and the food made me feel sick midway through my meal. That days sushi was dried fish over rice, coupled with crab rangoon that was--somehow--stretchy and tough near what was meant to be the crisp top. Forty bucks for this? Oh, wait, they charged me extra to come in on Friday for the dinner "service". Where we were served bland, unappetizing food that couldnt be described as fresh if we had come in hours ago. Where we were served by a staff that seemed too happy to do nothing but clean on a slow saturday night three hours before closing. Where we were served food borne illnesses. And then were served an equally abysmal check. Dont worry, China Palace! I wont come back in on a Friday if thats your idea of service. Or any other day that ends in y. If you want to have a good dining experience, Id suggest you do the same.

4 years ago, I loved this place.. There was always a sweet man working there no matter what day or time you went and I always thought he was an owner. Food was good..... He left a year or two ago and I was told he went to Houston and since then, it just is really horrible. Food, service, appearance...now instead of a sweet, friendly older man.. Theres a very mean lady there all the time. The "service" is awful.. If you can even call it that. They will leave food on the buffet that looks like its been there for days.. But they wont replace it because theres a tiny bit left in the pan. The ice cream machine spits out water and sugar basically. You get seated and you might see a server once or twice but they dont refill drinks, they dont clear dirty plates.. They bring your initial drinks and the check.. If you need something, you have to go ask for it.

I eat here about 1 time a month and over the last year it has gotten worse on each visit. The waiters ignore you, too busy texting. The food is decent for a buffet, however, if you want the Mongolian BBQ be prepared to wait, yesterday we had a group of 4 and the cook would only cook one at a time when usually they will put all 4 on at once.... when it came time to pay the cashier, I will assume the owner, a tall asian man, never got off his cell phone. When I approached the counter he snatched the check and my credit card out of my hand while never stopping his phone conversation, never greeted me, never thanked me, never spoke to me.

If I could give negative star or a half a star I would. We used to like this place a lot. But this evening was the worst, they werent even busy, we had to wait to be seated. Then after waiting for a drink order, went to start getting food. A lot of the items were near empty and they werent showing signs of refilling them. Then to add to it are waiter never checked on us, had to ask a few different times for drinks. Then leaving, wasnt asked how everything was, I told them I was not pleased, I dont think they understood though. Never going back to this one.

Same as any of these places that get their frankenfood crap drug in via an 18 Wheeler. Look.. You know that all of these places are exactly the same. They are fine if you are some dopey ol fat person that eats at McDonalds a lot. The food is super low quality, but that is what many Americans enjoy. For others who eat well, this place here will be like heroin without the benefits. It is awful and you will feel horrible afterwards. You might even feel like you are going to have a heart attack, or are going into a coma.

My son, grandson, and I ate lunch at China Palace for the first time on June 27. We were passing through San Marcos. Ive eaten at many Chinese buffets, however, the food at this place was fantastic! The various foods were very tasty, fresh and well flavored. I was also shocked by how inexpensive it was to eat at China Palace. When we return to this area, we will most definitely visit this restaurant again! I highly recommend this place.

We walked in and a young gentleman took us to our booth and took out drink order. The waitress brought us our drinks and returned for refills and to get our empty plates. She was soft spoken and very polite, a great waitress! She brought our ticket over after we had finished and let us know how much it was. She took the money to the cashier and brought us change. This was our first time here and it was really good! We will be back!

Not pleased at all. The service was horrible, didnt come to check if we needed refills on our drinks. Staff not friendly at all. They act like theyre scared! Restrooms filthy, fly on the grapes, Cant keep up with refilling the food. When you do ask them if they can refill the food they look angry and like they were bothered by it. Paying so much money for a horrible experience!!Wouldnt recommend this place to anybody!!!

This was our first and last visit to China Palace Buffet. The ambience and service leave a lot to be desired. Most reputable Chinese Restaurants play oriental music; not this one. I read that the restaurant had been redecorated, good thing, I would have hated to see it before. All the chairs needed upholstering...badly used fabric. Restaurant had very sterile (not to mean very clean) look; once more no ambience.

I have visited this place MANY times and it has a GREAT atmosphere and wonderful food. Some times you go in and see some dishes change every so often also wich i really enjoy. My favorite thing about this place was how friendly the people are, for instance i remember because i saw the sushi chef so often he on occasion gave me extra fish on the side wich was really sweet of him!!!

The food is okay, its usual buffet food. The service is what really sucks. Every time I go, I end up leaving a $0 tip. I have to go find a waiter gossiping with his co-workers to get their attention to fill my drink, or start the Mongolian grill. They are bad about putting out new food when one runs out, but it still what gets me full when Im really hungry.
