What To Try: Galbi Ribs, Orange Shrimp The Buffet Palace is one of the best asian buffets Ive been to anywhere. It has an amazing selection of food that spans multiple cuisines including Japanese, Chinese, & Korean. The Austin Chronicle featured Buffet Palace as "Best All You Can Eat" 8 years in a row. One of my favorite items on the buffet is the Galbi ribs, which seem to be constantly being cooked since they are a popular item. The salad bar has a miso soup area where you can customize your broth with green onion, mushrooms, and seaweed to your taste. Also found on the salad bar is a variety of korean sides including picked daikon radish, jop chae, kimchi, bean paste, & gochujang sauce. What Ive listed so far is just tiny bit of what offered. The buffet includes a pho bar, with a DIY pho cooking station, and a huge sushi bar that features over 14 types of sushi. Crunchy rolls, Dynamite rolls, California Rolls, Texas Rolls, & Philly Rolls are commonly among the selection available. I havent even mentioned the main entree items, the desert area or BBQ station. Service here is great, in fact its so good Ive asked for the manager twice now, so that I could let them know about the amazing job some of their staff does. One of which is Esther, shes an amazing waitress whos always friendly. I highly recommend Buffet Palace, for their Korean centric buffet, wide selection of items, quality of items offered, and amazing wait staff.

I hate writing reviews like this but I have to be truthful. This is one of those good places I used to eat at regularly. There was always plenty of food to choose from. This place was always packed during lunch, it was also clean all the time. The staff was always friendly and courteous. This place had everything going for it. One day I went there a friend who had just returned from a 2 year trip to China. He was impressed with the food. He was getting all kinds of crazy stuff there. I was just got the regular typical Chinese/American stuff like always. I was so hungry and ready to pig out. I went to the buffet line and got my kung pao chicken and a bowl of hot and sour soup. Went back to my table and sat down. Then just when I was about to eat my hot and sour soup, I looked at my spoon and there was a little tiny roach floating on my soup. I immediately put my spoon down, got up and walked to the lobby to talk to a manager. They were nice and took care of us right away and offered to feed us for free, but I couldnt do it. I really liked the food, but that little roach in my soup has kept me away from here.

I use to eat here more often when I lived in South Austin and this was my first time back since moving up north, over 2 years ago. I was always a fan of the Spicy Chicken soup and this was the reason for my return. I was so disappointed - the chicken has been replaced with TOFU!!! The broth was still good but I could not see any chicken although the name was still the same.... Service was ok, use to be better.. they have more dipping sauces to choose from but this place has changed, and not for the better. The sushi was not as fresh, the crab rangoons didnt not have much if any cream cheese as that texture was not creamy and it looked horrid and did not taste much better. The desserts actually improved though which was surprising. To sum it up, the food and service got worse yet the prices went up. I will not be returning here at all and left extremely disappointed as this was the only half way decent oriental buffet place in Austin... now I can officially say that all oriental buffet restaurants in Austin are nasty - do not waste your money! The pics look decent but do not let that fool you!

Great food and has always been one of my favorite Chinese places to eat but, I am very VERY disappointed with their customer service. I had wls surgery in December 2016 (yes my decision) but I still come to places like this for my family. All I asked was to be charged as a child since I cant eat very much and they denied it. I even showed them my card from my doctors office confirming I did indeed have the procedure done. The managers answer was, " dont matter one plate or ten plate; we charge the same." Im sure they dont have people coming in all the time asking for this and great customer service would of granted it. Probably wont be returning here for a while to get over my frustration.

Me & wife went to this place because they had Groupon Promotion. They have good verity of food, how ever most of them are some what dry, feels like they have been sitting there for hours. But this is buffet, we would are never expect the food would be as fresh & good as $100 restaurant. What made us give this place a ONE star is the customer service. Before we even start eating this middle/old age Asian male waiter start complaining to us how the last customer left very little tips for him. But it took him over 15 min and me asking 3 times to bring me a cup of ice water...I wonder why what the last customer did what he did. We left 15% tip at end, but dont think we would go back again.

I have been to different Asian buffets in Austin and this one is the better one so far. Even though they have a small buffet area, they sure do pack a lot into it. They have several unique cold salad selections that you typically wouldnt find on other buffets. The plus side of that is you wont see a standard salad bar here... who goes to an Asian buffet to eat a standard salad? They also have a dozen or so sushi rolls, miso soup, and their Crab Rangoons are loaded with filling. As always I couldnt try everything, but that just helps to make the decision easier to go back again sometime. If only they had frequent dining rewards... but I"ve never inquired about one and thats okay with me.

Pros: Clean and modern, which is hard to find in an asian-style buffet. Also the Korean ribs were the best Ive had in Austin. Cons: I was excited by the sushi but let down. The flavor is strange. Not in an unhealthy way, there are at least two other places in Austin with better buffet sushi. Other dishes were just okay, nothing special. The final nail in the coffin was the bill. Nearly $14 a piece and $6.25 for my 4 year old son who ate a couple bites of chicken and a cookie. Ill stick with the other local buffets because for the price of a family of four, you can eat elsewhere twice over and the food is the same or better. Glad we tried this place but we wont be back.

I really love Buffet Palace! It has amazing food and the service is wonderful. The waiters and waitresses are very organized and they are always picking up things after themselves. I really enjoyed the food, and they are a mix of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean food such as bulgogi, sushi, zucchini pancakes, pan-fried dumplings, great seafood, salad, etc. I come here very often, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great Asian buffet restaurant in Austin! Ill be honest, this buffet restaurant may be one of the very few best restaurants in Austin. Im so happy to be one of the customers there, and I know everyone else who goes there can say the same too.
