Decent buffet, but ultimately not one of my favorite in the city. Food selection is OK, food quality is decent, but not great. Wait service here is decent, only had empty glasses on one or two occasions over the past few years. Ive eaten here at least a dozen times. Buffet price is fair for what is offered and the quality of food. I dont feel the price is off target. A few items are prepared well, while sushi selection is minimal and of the lower end quality wise. Steak grill is included in the buffet, and steaks are OK as well. Nothin goverly fantastic, but just medium across the board. I eat here when in the area and wanting a Chinese buffet, there are only a handfull of places (about 3) to choose from on the Northeast side of town as far as buffets go and ultimately all of them are of similar quality. I would put the table service here a step above the others most the time. Its a decent place for a quick lunch, or a cheap buffet.

My wife and I have been going here for a few years now, even making it our "traditional" Christmas eatery for several holidays in a row, and while it started as a fairly middling but satisfying experience, it has steadily declined to the point where I will no longer eat there. Often the food is left far past the point where it should have been changed. General Chicken that is little more than a hunk of fried gristle, dumplings that are soggy and flavorless, chicken skewers with thin shreds of what can only be described as chicken jerky strung across them... Really, they commit the worst sin that a chinese buffet can: the food is largely flavorless. Ive got fairly low standards when it comes to mass-prepared fare, but I DO have standards. I dont even want to think too much about the details at this point. Suffice to say that weve made the decision to stop going here entirely after the last several experiences.

I like Chinese buffets not just for all u can eat, but decent sushi (not raw). I walked in at 7:30 pm (closes at 10pm on a Friday) and half of the buffet was low with not fresh food, or empty and not refilled. out of two huge trays, only 8 pieces of sushi. and what food was out, it was just not worth the money. Im not a over eater looking for massive amounts of food, just affordable for more than one thing on one plate. there was not any dessert except pudding and softserve icecream. I did not even bother. and my soda was flat and had a lemon seed in it. I should of refused the food and left without paying, but im just in town visiting and was tired of looking for a buffet. had not had any Chinese for awhile as I live in the woods. but I am posting this review. dont waste your money.

I have been frequenting the Golden Phoenix since the early 90s... when it was outstandingly good. I can honestly say that I have eaten there more times than I could possibly count... over a hundred in 25 years.... Anyways, around 1998, the man who owned it, sold it to another family. That family did a decent job (but still not up to par with his great service and tasteful food) Same menu, but not being cooked with a thorough knowledge of how to recreate the food people were used to. They tried redecorating but it wasnt enough... so THEY sold it to a lady who then slowly ruined it.... she did. The quality is awful now, nasty, the place is filthy.... sad. I think she still owns it... But the last time I went was exactly that... the LAST TIME. Sad to see it go down.

So i was in the mood for a nice buffet to take the family too. Why in the world did i have to choose this place and mad causes i spent 49.10 to be exact. The food had been sitting out so long that even the crablegs was turning brown. The food was cold and i end up eating only lo mein noodles and a ice cream cone which was stale. Attempt to get some fruit but flies had already claimed that and i couldnt eat my favorite soup...eggdrop cause it had been out so long it had a darkish yellow but more like orange. BY FAR THE WORST PLACE I EVER BEEN TO IN MY LIFE. I work hard for my money like everyone else do and all i wanted was a decent meal with my family. I wont ever go back to this place..signed a dissatisfied customer

I am giving this rating two stars because the waitress was very nice. But, I found a light brown hair in my food that was about five inches long, I didnt notice it till I pulled it out of my mouth. I have black thick hair, so I know it was not mine. This was cooked into the food. Unfortunately I had barely touched my first plate, and just finished serving myself. When I told the manager, she told me it wasn’t their fault and I still had to pay for my plate. I was charged $19! When I just ate one fried wonton, and a mouth full of hair! This was the worst experience, and I will never go there again. The worst part about it was the manager didnt care.

I went to the Golden Pheonix resteraunt Tuesday 11/05/07 for lunch with my husband. When we arrived and entered the door and were poorly greeted by a woman at the dineing room entrance..She brushed us to the side and told us to wait while she sat the people that walked in the door behind us..I was in disbeleif that by looking at the color of our skin and the way we dressed we would be treated with such disrepect. I turned around and walked back out the door, and I wouldnt recommend that anyone eat there!!! That is inexscuseable behaivor!!!

the first thing that i saw was a cockroach walking around the lamps on top of the food... then when I went to pay.. I notice that the Asian lady asked to African American guy to pay first..when everybody was getting the bill after you eat.. I asked why she requested the payment first only of him... and her response was because they left with no pay... I told her that she can not judge the person just for the color.. Definitely was my first and last time to stop at that restaurant I dont recommend

Most of the staff are quite apathetic. Many of the servers are still quite nice. The food is fair to middling. It will fill you up, but it wont blow your socks off. Your best option is to arrive right when it opens. Everything is fresh and at its best. After that, it is a mixed bag. Some items are left until they are cooked to an inedible state. Sad atmosphere as well. Most people eat themselves into a near comatose state and leave.

This place is bad and they should feel bad. Both the lo mein and rice noodles were bland and cold. The"Phoenix" chicken was so dry and overcooked that it was inedible and I actually had to spit it out. The pot stickers and egg rolls were ok at best. If you pick through the buffet there are a few items that are edible but definitely will not keep me coming back. The bathroom was also pretty gross.
