I would like to say that I have been going to the Pompton Queen diner for decades. Things have been busy for me in the last year or so and I had not made it back until yesterday. I took my family there for lunch. In the past the service was always stellar and the food was always plentiful and delicious. However, this last visit was not good. It started with the menu and I noticed that most of the prices have increase substantially. So that was an initial shock. Then I notices a few things that upset me and my wife. In the past, the Queen Salad had an ample amount of salami and provolone cheese. This time I had to almost search for it. It was about 1/3 of what used to be given. Next my wife ordered the Matza ball soup. In the past the matza ball was very large, about the size of a tennis ball. Now its the size of a ping pong ball. My son likes orange juice and wanted another glass towards the end of dinner. He couldnt finish it so I had a sip and it was most definitely watered down. Last but not least, at the end of my meal I asked for dessert. In the past this always came with a full dinner. To my surprise, the waitress said that I had to ASK for the COMPLETE dinner in order to receive that. First off, when I ordered the dinner she did not tell me that, and second to get the complete dinner which adds a drink and a dessert costs ANOTHER 5 BUCKS!!!!!!! In this day and age, for what you pay for, you should get more than this......It cost me almost 100 dollars( to feed lunch to my family. (Me, my wife, and 3 kids(12yo, 10yo, and 6yo). Man, you just dont get anything for your money anymore. I had always expected more from the Pompton Queen. It had always held a very sentimental place in my heart. Mainly because I used to go there when I was in high school (graduated in 1988) and later with my girlfriend (now my wife of 15+ years). Im very disappointed and I dont think I will be coming back :(. I will not suggest this place to anyone any longer. Whats also sad is that my eldest daughter is having a birthday next week and me, my mother, my mother in law, my other daughter, my son and I were going to go there for dinner. It just wont happen now. Very sad. I havent seen or spoke to her in a while, but I would just like to say a fond farewell to Diane the tall waitress. She was always great. Not even sure if she still works there. Well, there you have it, the end of an era.

New Jersey is arguably the diner capital of the world. Some are incredible....others are garbage. This one falls somewhere in between. Now, we dined there on a Sunday evening and it was a bit busy. We waited about 20 minutes for a table. The host was not exactly pleasant, ushering us to a table without saying a word before tossing us menus and walking away (in his defense this isnt the first diner weve been to where this has happened). The waiter however was pleasant and attentive. My wife and I ordered an egg beater omelette and a chicken-pesto wrap with rice and spinach on the side. The wrap was decent and I would recommend it to others. The spinach and rice was a mixture of freezer burn and I dont want to know what.....avoid it. The egg beater omelette was so-so. Listen, is it a bad diner? Not at all. And they were super busy so please dont avoid it just because of this review. But is it one of those places that will blow you away? Probably not.

if youre from town then you know that no matter how many they open up, when your friends say "hey im hungry, lets go to the diner"....scratch that, it isnt said. whats said is "ayo lets hit the Queen". whether it was when i was 14, sitting there holding a booth hostage all night drinking the endless coffee refills and smoking cigarettes, when I was 19 and slamming down a massive plate of fries with mozz n gravy after a night of binge drinking, or when I was 30 and just wanted a good breakfast on the weekend, the Pompton Queen has been there to serve me tasty, reasonably priced food at all hours of the night (and put up with some drunken shenanigans as well). I hope the Queens doors stay open right up until the day the Chinese call in our debt and collapse our govt, and as it all starts to burn Ill run down for one last cup of coffee and burger with swiss, fried onions, and mushrooms...

Went for lunch a couple months ago. Ordered a medium rare burger. Never saw the waitress after our food was delivered. The burger was burnt to a crisp. I had to get up to ask for containers for my kids meals and for our bill. When I explained about the burger I was told theyd take something off the bill. I didnt ask for that just mentioned it. The manager basically said that I was lying because no one ever complains. I told her to please take a look at it and she replied that she definitely will. She took about 3 dollars off but still telling me she was sure it was ok. I was very nice about it but I guess I should have been nasty.. Weve been going there for years but we will never go there again and I tell everyone about this horrible experience.

Well ive only been here twice. The first time i had a great experience the food was delicious (for a diner) the waitress was friendly and sweet and the prices was not bad at all. I had no cpmplaints however.. my second time about a year later which was this past monday. My waitress was a rude young girl who made my experience terrible, she wasnt friendly ( and youd think you would be a bit more nice if you worked off tips)....lets just say she wasnt getting one from me, now if it wasnt for the good food I would never go back there because of her. I enjoyed a salad in which i have to say which was one of the best salads i ever had! imagine that at a diner.Well all i have to say if it wasnt for the cooks i wouldnt be coming back.

I just went to the pompton queens diner today about an half hr ago. They didnt even seat me or give a menu. I wait for 10 minutes for someone to take my order. During those ten minute i was getting glares from customers at this eatery. Im nor dressed like a clown or anything. But i notice they were all white. At this time. I wait for someone who was seated after me to be served. Sure enough it happens and my supiousions are correct and I leave. Dont bother going the to eat if you spanish black or asian. They wont serve you. Whites only im afraid

Giving them Five stars based on all surrounding diners. Typical diner food done right. Staff is generally pleasent even when it gets really busy and believe me it can get really busy. Not unusual to wait for a table on a Friday or Saturday night. The place is open 24 hours a day which is great for all you night owls. I have read reviews about cleanliness and I have no idea what they are talking about, I concider myself a neat freak and I have never noticed the place being dirty or having bugs...
