I came back after many years to find this restaurant had changed ownership. The service is polite and competent. China Sun has an extensive menu of traditional Chinese food cooked for American tastes, so there is always something for those who want to stick with what they know. While this food is really good, the highlights of this restaurant are threefold. First, China Sun has a short but really good Vietnamese menu. The Vietnamese spring rolls are tasty, as are all the vermicelli bowls. Dont be afraid to try any of the Vietnamese dishes. Second, the waitstaff is usually willing to share items not listed on the menu. You want orange chicken with jalapenos? They have that, its just off the menu, dont be afraid to ask. Finally, most dishes are customizable. If you need to have vegetables, meat and egg in the fried rice you order, you can request that for a nominal charge. With lunch specials @ $5.50 until 5 pm, you cant go wrong giving China Sun a try.

We went to China Sun with high hopes after reading the reviews but we were very disappointed... to say the least. The food was cold, bland, and not at all what was ordered. When we brought this to the attention of the server, he became defensive, rude and argumentative and basically refused to correct the issue. We did not eat the food that was served and told him to remove the item from our bill. The lunch special was $5.50 so he removed the entree and charged us a la carte for the rice, egg roll and soup which ended up costing nearly as much as the special. This was a terrible experience and first impression of what we were hoping was going to be our new Chinese place. Here is hoping the Panda Express on Nacogdoches opens soon!

Having read the reviews I had high expectations! They did not disappoint. They food was wonderful, very reasonably priced, and the portion servings were generous. I didnt eat off the lunch menu...this time...but I did have an egg fu yong. It was DELISH! I would recommend this place to anyone. Yes, the area is sketchy, but once again, a "hole in the wall" restaurant doesnt disappoint. Oh yeah...I dont know if they guy who was working the cash register was the owner, but a reviewer on here was right..he will remember you and remember your order. Very nice guy!! I would recommend this to anyone!

Omg such a hidden gem this place is AMAZING everything was hot and fresh the egg rolls are delicious and made in house everything down to the lemonade is fresh SUPER GREAT quality AUTHENTIC food first time eating there and my husband and I both agree we will be lifetime customers...btw I had the sweet and sour shrimp and my husband had the Kung pao beef. The portions are just outrageously big and the price is extremely fair. Kudos to the staff they take great pride in the food they serve. Oh and the wonton soup is super flavorful and very delicious.

Fresh, hot and the portions were sooooo HUGE! Im very picky about chinese food, and really never venture out of my comfort zone from another restaurant, however this place blows the socks off of the other chinese restaurant, and they are good - however the portions at China Sun and the friendly service and did I mention the egg rolls, very light, fresh and such flavor. You will not be disappointed!

Im hooked! Everything I have ordered here has been fantastic. Questionable neighborhood but dont let that stop you from enjoying probably the best Chinese food in San Antonio. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, food is always hot and fresh with great portions. Come hungry and leave happy planning on what youll have the next time you come, because youll be back.

Terrible food for the cost. For the amount I spent for awful food I could have done much better at P.F.Changs. Always wanting to give small business a try but this time really didnt pay off. I felt like I took a match to my money. I couldnt eat the food and I am still sitting here hungry since I wasted all my money at your restaurant. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Just ate here and the food was horrible and way to hot and that was me finding out myself burning my mouth and customer service is as horrible as the food and im guessing if you come 25mins before closing that maybe the service youll get or it maybe like that all tge time, either way i wouldnt tell my dog to go here

Ive been going here since I was little. My whole family loves it and always recommends it. Everything is good and always fresh. The owner is nice and most likely remembers your order after going in a couple of times(: it doesnt look like much from the street view but its delicious. You wont regret a thing.

I thought china sun was pretty good. Ordered take out...the guy on the phone taking the order was very friendly. We picked it up , took it home and were pleased. I thought the fried rice was alittle different but it was still good. Overall I would recommend if you are thinking about going there.

Love the food and the owner is really nice and funny. Hes making lots of changes to the place which shows how much he cares about his business. My favorite is the sesame chicken with hot and sour soup. Definitely try this out! Prices are extremely fair and portions are generous.

My husband took me here for the first time I so love the food and the environment it was very nice and cozy the way I like it we normally order food from here but to go to bring it home and I love this environment the food was nice and hot and I love the drink theyre tea

Absolutely delicious! I had the Szechuan Beef: Wonderful flavor! Service was great! They were very attentive and answered any questions we had. Not quite ready to declare it my favorite Chinese restaurant in San Antonio just after 1 dish, but Im definitely going back!

Very great food, for the price its perfect. if you want cheap food then you will get cheap taste. Friendly wait staff, and our soups came out very fast. Food was nice and hot. I havent had good Chinese in awhile so i will definitely be coming back.

Great place to stop and eat lunch or dinner. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They talk to you and really want to know how they can make your experience good and give you suggestions if they feel you dont know what your ordering.

If I pay the extra for chicken fried rice with my entrée on a dinner plate ($2.50). PLEASE give me what I paid for! Dont put two small scoops and spread it out to look full. However food is ALWAYS great. Btw this was a to go order.

Pleased with the gracious staff & the food. We had the summer rolls, orange chicken & bun bowl. The bun bowl was a different take than Ive had before but was still good. Will be happy to return to try more menu items!
