Im not sure what was wrong with the place over a year ago that propogated the negative reviews but, in an area where El Gabacho gets 4 stars and deserves maybe half a star, I really liked El Chico. Ive been there several times now and havent been disappointed in service or food quality. The wait staff is very outgoing and friendly and their recommendations were also helpful. Of the 4 times Ive been there, my food was delayed once for which they were proactively apologetic and partly credited my bill of their own accord. So far, the only critique I can offer is to take a pass on the guacamole. A little too much MSG in something that truly needs none at all. The atmosphere is a little grimy but nothing that would raise questions about the integrity of the food. In fact, it adds an air of authenticity. Give it a shot. Judge for yourself.

This place is a joke... Its a horrible place to work they treat their employees horibly... The new management is extremely under experienced and unorganized... They dont even pay their servers minimum wage when they dont make it and thats illegal... They have roaches and I mean this Im not just saying this cause Im a mad ex employee they literally have roaches... They dont wear gloves... No one washes their hands for the most part... There was a time I dropped a whole tray of chopped onions on the ground and they made me pick them up of an already dirty floor and wash them off... This place is for the dogs...

Gone to this restaurant for years but had recently changed management. Food quality has gone downhill. Waiters are not friendly and our waiter even complained about his tip! Tip would have been better had he gotten our orders correct. Had to send one dinner back. Our bill was incorrect and had to argue with the waiter. Still left a decent tip of about 15% which was more than generous considering the awful experience. Definitely wont return.

Only reason for 4 instead of 5 is lack of attention in the womens restroom. Jammed paper towel dispenser and a little messy. Sevice was excellent, food was excellent and we enjoyed eating there! The young waitress that served us (I wish I caught her name!) was a breath of fresh air! She went out if her way to show us and others (I witnessed) kindness!!!

I love El Chicos as it brings back childhood memories with my family growing up. Some of the food choices have changed through the years but they have stayed consistent with what they do best. Always clean , friendly service and really hot food . Good place for a family get together as they have a banquet room off to the side.

I eat there about 3-4 times a week, Dylan and Erin are especially helpful in making sure my food is tasting great and piping hot, I usually eat my food in a particular way and Im glad they are there to help me out... truly and honestly they really do an awesome job.. you guys have earned my continued return... thanx a bunch!!!!

I love El Chico. The old style cheese dip is awesome and one of the best you will find outside of Mexico Chiquita but you would have to be in Arkansas for it. The enchiladas are still what they are famous for and a must have. The brisket tacos are great as well. Cant say enough about this place.

Big, big fan of Mexican food. I live in NH so Mexican food around here is lacking the Mexican aspect. Every time I go to Texas we go to this location of El Chicos. Its so freaking yummy!!! Prices are perfect for a night out with extended family. Drinks are made perfectly and the staff is awesome.

Kate is an amazing server, always remembers my favorites and is so attentive and fun! The food is incredible every time and Ive never had an order come out wrong. Not to mention the sweet tea and margaritas are to die for! :)
