The wife and I loved it here when we visited before getting married and decided to have our rehearsal dinner at The Pantry. My mom spent months planning everything out, double and triple checked our reservation, was assured on numerous occasions all was well anf ready, paid the deposit months in advance, traveled several times from out of town to discuss and plan seating and decor, and when we arrived for our rehearsal dinner we discovered they had double booked our rehearsal dinner with another one. We had to move to the upstairs area which is not suitable for any kind of event. We could not hear anything from the party going on downstairs, there was no room for the equipment to play the sideshow our familys had prepared, no one could hear any toasts, and the hardest part for me was my mom was terribly upset. Afterwards I found out later my mom was made to still pay a good portion of the original price. She was not in a condition to argue her point with the manager and wrote the final check and left. With the events of the evening I was not there to discuss the event with the owners/managers, otherwise they woukd have heard from me and not taken advantage of my mother. I am not one to leave negative reviews, but felt strongly motivated that our experience should be shared.

The Pantry is a great destination eatery while visiting historic downtown McKinney. The "home cooking" food is very good, with some great specials each day. The pie alone is worth the trip, as it includes the best coconut cream pie and chocolate chip/cream pie found anywhere in the region. The service is great as well and the whole package makes it a great place to stop and grab a bite while shopping or hanging out in town. With a second floor, its also perfect for baby/wedding showers and other events.

I saw this restaurant featured on the Food Network, and knew I had to try some of their special pies. This wasnt easy since I live over 300 miles away! Through a twist of fate I traveled through that part of Texas last weekend, and stopped by The Pantry for lunch. The staff was friendly - the food, delicious. I had the quiche, and the tortilla soup, and sampled several varieties of pie. We also bought several pies to take back home. Ill definitely go back the next time Im in that part of Texas!

The Pantry used to have the most amazing chicken salad sandwich. Just last week they changed the bread and it is so gross now. They use a huge, dry hamburger bun which is not right for a LIGHT chicken salad sandwich. Ive never heard of anyone putting a hamburger bun with chicken salad. It totally changed the taste of the sandwich. I was so upset and wont order that sandwich again until they go back to the soft, light wheat bread. So sad because it was my favorite! :(

The Pantry Restaurant gives you the home cooking you have been looking for. In addition, it is located in downtown McKinney where you can shop after eating a delicious home cooked meal. What could be better than that?! The people are friendly and the atmosphere is rustic and cosy. It is like you are coming home to see Mom and eat her delicious food.

The Pantry Restaurant is a wonderful place to eat at in Downtown McKinney. The have delicious food and wonderful desserts! My favorite is the Strawberry pie. They also host special events at their restaurant for weddings, receptions, showers, holidays, etc. There are a lot of Downtown shops to have a fun day with friends and family in McKinney.

Pies are good as take out or for parties. Walls are dirty..ltierally there is dirt on the walls. My mom says its part of the charm but I just think the place is old and run down. If you like antiquities and charm yes this place is great. If you dont....maybe you should just go to spoons or churchills instead.

The Pantry is a downtown McKinney gem with great atmosphere and great food. Their chicken spaghetti is my favorite (its a special, so you have to go on the right day) and their tortilla soup is delicious. They have yummy desserts too including my favorite pies, chocolate cream and chocolate chip.

Breakfasts are poor quality, biscuits from a can & gravy was warmed milk. Temp at cafe was cold (yes, cold outside, but this was ridiculously cold). Drive a couple of blocks...McDonalds is even a better choice. Or save $20 and make your own biscuits & gravy and a few cups of instant coffee.

No friendly service. Waited 30min for fried pickles. Which came out with the rest of our food. Each of my familys order was wrong and food was cold. Yes there chicken fried stake is big BUT its so thin and dry its like eating a big potato chip. Will not go back!

The food here is always good and freshly made and the pies are fantastic, particularly the chocolate chip pie. The service can sometimes be slow (they usually only have one register open to order at), especially at peak times.

It was fine. Staff wasnt very friendly and seemed bothered by the customers, food was okay, we liked the fried pickles. All in all just not comparable with similar restaurants in the square. Wont be going back.

Purchased 4 Pies for Christmas and none were edible. DRY, and either over cooked or old! Returned and manager reluctantly refunded 1/2 the cost. Suppose thats ok, but none of the four were acceptable.

Really nice location in historic downtown McKinney! Great place to stop for lunch while shopping the square - they serve hot plate lunches, sandwiches but the pies and cake are the BEST!

This use to be an excellent place to visit for lunch. I dont know if the place has changed hands or not but it is not as good or as clean as it was 3 years ago.

everything tasted microwaved with no flavor. Not sure what they season their food with but my wife and I felt dehydrated all day. Awful

Varied menu with average to good food. The staff and atmosphere are great though, especially when they have live music.
