First and last time eating at Sugarbacon. I came here because I heard such amazing things but it didnt just slightly miss the mark, it was a total disappointment of an experience. From the waitress to the food, everything seemed to be rushed. Since it was brunch, we decided to go with mimosas. The waitress explained the bottle vs glass of mimosas and the juices available. We requested the bottle and then she advised they couldnt do the bottle currently because they only had two opened bottles left. A bit confusing as to why you would explain the bottle vs glass if you dont have one of the options available. We ordered the Sugarbacon as an appetizer and sadly discovered that only one of the four pieces actually had a piece of meat on it, the rest of it was 100% fat. After letting out waitress know, the manager came over and advised that, "some pieces have more fat than others". He advised he would take 1/2 of the appetizer off our bill. Something about only taking half of the appetizer off our bill just didnt sit right with me and still doesnt. On to the main meal. I ordered the chicken and waffles and he ordered the proper brunch. The syrup is out of this world good with the butter.. but then there is the chicken. The chicken didnt taste like it had a bit of seasoning on it and the breading was so thick it places it was still doughy. The eggs from the proper brunch had no seasoning as well. After requesting for salt, we received a salt shaker that didnt work because it was clogged. We went up and asked for a 2nd salt shaker and toothpicks. Same problem with the 2nd salt shaker, but nothing a few toothpicks couldnt cure. So after a mediocre, at best, brunch, we received our bill for $65.00. Im all for spending money on great food, but Dennys would have had a better breakfast than this place. Save yourself the money and time and go to a decent place for brunch instead.

The second worst dinner experience I have ever had. With that said youre probably assuming the venue was bad or the service was bad; no the food was just that bad. Appetizer: tator tots and sugarbacon Tator tots= not good, I personally didnt try one after two people at the table said they were disgusting Sugarbacon = not sure what happened, in the past this was actually good. Meat was tough, cold, burnt (on the top) Entree: so yeah.... My wife and her friend ordered shrimp and grits, (my wifes family is from New Orleans so she knows good food). Both of them had one bite and sent it back. When the waiter came back he said the chef tasted it and agreed it tasted horrible. I purchased a ribeye... It was ok, a little too salty. I personally wouldnt eat it again but the women at the table thought it was good (of course they were starving after the shrimp and grits ruined their appetite). I gave them a 2 star because everything was fine except for the food. Im not sure what has happen to this restaurant, at one point they were the hottest restaurant in McKinney. The food quality has had a significant drop off. One last note... They are extremely pricey for the quality of food. After 4 drinks and 2 ribeye my bill with tip was $135.. Then I had to take my wife and her friend to Whataburger... The restaurant provided no compensation

Really enjoyed Sunday brunch at Sugar Bacon. Website said Sundays a good time to go. Yes it was easy to get a patio seat at 12:45. The wait staff super friendly and efficient. For starters we had to get the Sugar bacon which is pork belly cooked correctly so the fat is tasty not chewy. Sitting on a small toast with a pickle slice then a very tasty barbecue sauce, I know why they named Restaurant Sugar Bacon. The Bloody Mary was smokey and a little spicy and oh so good. I ordered a shredded pork sandwich topped with Cole slaw, with their tasty barbecue sauce and a tasty bun. That came with house made potato chips, french fries, or a house salad. I chose the house salad which was good but needed more seasonings. My husband chose the Perfect Brunch. Two eggs, one large biscuit open face with sausage gravy and beefsteak tomato slice. The gravy was kind of orange color from pepper spices but the flavor was really good. The tomato could have been better with all the local markets to shop from but we both loved Sugar Bacon and will be back very soon. They had a Jazz singer piano player inside but the music was outside too. Worth the drive and they invited us to come for happy hour 4-7 during the week. I will give this 4 and half stars

Sugarbacon is A Proper Kitchen, indeed! This is what it should taste like to eat in the south. WOW. I stumbled across this gem on an outing to Historic McKinney. The town square was charming, but the food here was INCREDIBLE. I will be back for the Fried Green Tomato appetizer and the Shrimp & Grits entree. I, quite literally, teared up with the first bite of the Fried Green Tomatoes. They were so good I had an emotional response of gratitude. The Shrimp and Grits were so tasty I could have sworn I was in New Orleans, not a small Texas town. I looked around to see if Emril was about to go, BAM! I clapped when I was done. Chef Thompson is no longer here, but his expertly prepared dishes are still making him look good. Cheers to his successor. If you want to taste what a NYC boutique dining experience would be like, without leaving the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex, then take the time to dine here. Save room for desert. The Butterscotch Banana Pudding was the perfect bow on this tremendous gift to my day. My friend had the Chocolate Brownie with homemade pralines & vanilla ice-cream. It was delicious too, and large enough to share, if you only want one desert. Bottom line: Go. Go again, then go some more.

As Special Needs parents we enjoy any time we can get out to relax. Once a month a group of Special Needs moms from the Frisco Miracle League go out to dinner and tonight was our night. We chose Sugarbacon in downtown McKinney because others in our group had been there and loved the food. There were 5 of us in our party and after appetizers, dinner & dessert the bill was pretty high but the food was good and the company was awesome so we were OK with that. As we were sitting there chatting after dessert a manager came over to ask how dinner was and how we were doing. We assured her that everything was good and she proceeded to ask us to leave because she needed our table. She offered to "buy us a drink at the bar" if we would move. Now at this point we didnt even have our bill. We paid our bill and left and even though we enjoyed the food and atmosphere we will not be back because the manager was rude enough to ask us to leave so she could have our table. Even though the food and atmosphere were great I only gave them 3 stars because management was rude to our party. If that had not occurred they would have gotten 5 stars!
