Wow. I mean WOW. I have lived in Lubbock over a year and tried many places, but this is the first both food and service were excellent. We went on a Friday evening about 6, were seated right away and got the delightful waiter named Jimmy. When I inquired about a draft that was new, Saint Arnold Winter Stout, he quickly offered to bring me a sample. While it was quite a nice stout with no overpowering seasonal spices in it I decided to go with Breckinridge Vanilla Porter ($5), which our server heartily agreed was one of his favorites. When visiting a place for the first time I usually go a little overboard, to try a big a sample as possible to allow that one dish might be having trouble for the night or that my tastes dont align with the dish. For appetizers we ordered the Pickle Jar ($7) and a cup of squash soup ($4). The pickle jar came served in the same style mason jar that they bring the water in, it was packed with a vegetable medley (carrots, green beans, cauliflower, peppers, cucumber, pearl onion, and okra); while I generally avoid sweet pickles, the sweetness blended very well with the brine flavorings and I actually helped finish the whole jar. The butternut squash soup was served with dollops of chèvre and drizzled with oil. The oil and cheese was a nice compliment to the soup but the spoons I got with neither made me wish for a little more from the main soup body, maybe just a little more pepper? Still it was a solid good soup. For the main course I ordered the scallop appetizer ($12) and my companion the meatless chopped steak ($10) with grilled salmon (+$7). My entree was fabulous. I was a little worried at first as my scallops were not warm, but I think that was just because they had seared them perfectly and they lost their warmth to the plate. The three scallops were served on small puréed mounds of orange (butternut squash) and green (broccoli), but after the perfectly cooked scallops the real star were the (in house made!) bacon and Parmesan tortellini. Sadly there were only two of these delights, but I selfless offered up half of one to my dinning companion and he agreed that they were delicious. When out server came over to gather the dishes, I agreed that his opinion of the tortellini was not overrated, he said he had been rallying for a dish of just them and I would love to try that. As for his main entree, the salmon was cooked perfectly (the only downside in my eyes was the char from the grill, which personally I am not a fan of), but quite tasty. My companion was a bit surprised by the mound of greens on top his dinner, all of which were fresh with not a hint of slime, discoloration or limp ness), but under was the real treasure. The mushroom sauce was served on the bottom and all the mashed quinoa, beans, carrot and celery on top of the sauce. I dont know that I would really think of steak when eating this dish, but it was hearty like a meatier dish and all the mushroom lent it a lovely flavor. By this time I was quite full but had previously read over the dessert menu and wanted to take one home. Jimmy helpfully offered that the Banoffee pie and brownie were the two best, as me and my companion had already discussed the brownie we went with that, although Jimmy warned it would not be as pretty as if we ate it there. Upon getting home I had to cave and have a bite of the dessert. It was quite magnificent. The orange in the cream really came out and kept all the chocolate from becoming too overpowering and rich. Even my companion, who notoriously has trouble with subtler flavors could taste the orange in what was clearly house made whipped cream. A truly wonderful experience and I look forward to going back. Truly a wonderful experience and look forward to going back.

My wife and I came to Lubbock for the night for a concert. Upon arrival, we were both hungry, but we wanted to find some place local. After searching Lubbocks top rated restaurants, we quickly notice the great reviews on for The Crafthouse Gastropub, and figured we would give it a shot. Boy, were we glad we did!!! This has to be some of the best food we have both EVER had! Ali, our server, and the Restaurant Supervisor, was wonderful! The service was great and the food was even better!!! We started off with "The Pickle Jar" for an appetizer, which was just that! A wide mouth Ball mason jar with pickled cucumbers, carrots, and cauliflower. It was fantastic!!! The perfect mix between that sweet "bread and butter" style and "vinegar dill" style! And they pickle them in house!!!(These were so good we got an order to go!!) For our entrées, my wife had The All American Burger with everything on it, add avocado, which I have to say was the most beautifully presented burger Ive ever seen!!! It was served with "Twice fried fries" which were amazing, and the in house homemade ketchup was great! I had the Schnitzel plate, which was the breaded veal cutlet, boiled egg and capers, and sour kraut mashed potatoes. It was all absolutely phenomenal, but the kraut mashed potatoes were to die for!!! What an amazing blend of flavors, and the capers set them off!!! And for dessert we shared the "Cake in a Jar", which was simply heavenly!! All in all, the place is amazing all the was around! Atmosphere, Service, and Food get 5 stars from this guy!!! I will tell anyone I know coming to Lubbock that this place is a must!!! Oh, and did I mention their selection of beer is impeccable!!!! 12 out of 10!!! Thank you so much Craft house Gastropub for making our visit fantasic! We will be back EVERY time we come down to Lubbock!!! P.S. open a location in Amarillo, please!!! ;)

I travel all over the country, and I have to say: The Seared Ahi Tuna, served with a Poached Egg, fresh Garlic Green Beans and some sort of small tomatoes with green olives - was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I couldnt have imagined Tuna with a Poached Egg; but, thats the first thing I tried on this plate (I took a piece of Tuna and broke right into that yolk), and the flavors were amazing! My mouth is watering again as I write this review... Next to the tomatoes and olives: To my surprise, they were served warm, not cold... Again, incredible flavors and serving them warm is a win in my book! The Green Beans were fresh and perfectly Al Dente (although I might have preferred a little more fresh garlic for flavor). All in all - one of greatest pairings of food/flavors Ive had in a long, long time. I couldnt recommend this dish more highly. BEER SELECTIONS: A very large listing of craft beers, many on tap and even more available in cans or bottles. Texas beers are flagged for a special discount.

The food was really good and fresh. Although it was a pricey. The cool mason jars they give you for your drinks are neat too. Thats about all the good about this place. Our server (lady with short hair, an earring and glasses) was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! The whole time I never got a refill on my drink, I ended up drinking some of my husbands drink the rest of the visit. She wasnt attentive, polite or friendly. She seemed to hate her job and made everyone feel uncomfortable. & we had to pay an 18% TIP FOR A HORRIBLE WAITRESS. Because of this we will never recommend this place nor ever go back...sad to say since this is the only unique gastropub in town. Get better costumer service please!
