How is this place still open? If it werent for the social media attention for their bloody mary/mimosa brunch drinks, this place wouldnt be what it is. I went in for their famed brunch 2 months ago and sat down with a friend. It took our waitress 8-10 minutes to even come say hi. She throws the menus on the table, throws them open and says "as you know these are all letters, letters make words and words make sentences and then you tell me what you want" all while smelling like the previous nights beer. The service was so horrendous, we moved to the bar where it didnt get much better. At one point in my meal, I ordered a bowl of fruit. The food runnner brings it to the bar. He has his pants sagging well below his ass and then upon dropping the food onto the bar, he wipes the snot off his nose with the back of his hand. Where was that hand before you dropped my food off? I then proceeded to watch every staff member walk past the order multiple times to the point where I had to get up and get myself. They (bar staff) were too busy talking with their regulars. I honestly consider that, all things included/time wasted, to be the worst service Ive had in my 6 years of living in Dallas. This past Sunday, I gave them one more shot. Just to see. Just maybe. I went right to the bar and was greeted in a timely fashion, asked for a recommendation and never saw the bartender again. Within that time frame (10 minutes), I was able to google top 10 restaurants in Deep Ellum, map GPS coordinates to a new place and get all my stuff and leave before she came back. I half joked about the service to the guy eating next to me and he told me that he had waited 8 minutes before being greeting upon arriving. Bottom line is this. Im a waiter. Ive been in the industry over 9 years from family restaurants to now fine dining. I know how your job works, I can most likely do it better than you and all I ask if that you do one thing right and thats the fundamentals. Im not some sap who comes in alone in hopes of finding conversation through the bartender nor are my expectations exuberant by any means, just do the basics and do them well. Greet your guests within 2 minutes, offer a drink, menu and then when you see me with my menus closed, ask what I want and put it in. When the food arrives, make sure I have what I need and that my drink (whatever it may be) is full. Thats it. Thats literally it. There are over a dozen restaurants outside Anvil and I can assure you, youd get better service at any of them.

Atmosphere was cool, the server was nice but they were under staffed. It was 20 mins before we were even waited on for waters. She forgot the menus and took 15 min to get them to us. Then my Nephew got his food after everyone had finished their food, the only reason we didnt get her attention earlier is because we couldnt find her. My sister and I wanted to split the nachos and asked if it was enough to do that and were told yes its pleanty. For $15 we got 8 chips, thats not an exaggeration...8. Food was good, drinks were good. Fun place to drink if you dont mind waiting a while for drinks we were there for 4 hrs. Also there were lots of confusion with our tab. My daughter was overcharged for a tsirt, lots of mistakes so double check your bill.

My dad visited from out of state, and we took a gamble on this pub on a Monday night. The pub was incredibly short staffed, with one server operating the entire floor on her day off. Firstly, the menu is horribly confusing. For a branded Irish pub, there were mostly burgers and Italian fare on the menu. To make things simple, we both ordered fish and chips, which the menu promised as baked cod. What came out 30 minutes later was clearly catfish, and not that great catfish to boot. Because of our time schedule we didnt bother sending anything back. Side notes: good interior pub design, but it was ruined by the overhead "music." I would not return of my own volition.

Today a party of 11 came to eat here and the service was horrible. We all ordered at the same time, everyone got their food except one from us, he got his food way after everyone was done eating. The waitress just told him that the kitchen didnt make and she didnt come back to the table. I am a visitor here and will never recommend this place. We called the manager to let her know about the food and instead she gave us an attitude and didnt even want to listen. At the time to pay the tab we all paid with credit cards and they couldnt even give us a pen to sign. If I could give a lower rating for this place it will be a negative one, as a 1 star is way too high.

Im definitely a fan of the Anvil Pub. Came here for a few drinks with some friends, and it was awesome. The bar isnt super crowded, the atmosphere is classy and cool, and its just a nice place to be able to kick back and relax with friends. As for the food, its like... upper class bar food? Kick ass mac n cheese... which was ACTUALLY kick-ass. I mean, it wasnt gourmet, but it was kick-ass. The brownie sundae was good; cause its a frickin brownie sundae. The drinks were well made, great beer selection! All in all twas a good night at Anvil Pub. At least from what I can recall... ya know how it is. Come here and chill with your friends. Good place.

Prefect dive bar with a ton of personality. The bartender also knew his beer and was great with recommendations. Dont be scared to enter as the outside might not look so inviting but its worth a visit. Good selection of local beers on tap which is what we were looking for. The locals also seemed friendly and you tell this place is hopping on the popular nights. Wish I had more time to chill at the place but we were bar hopping to get a good feel for the area. This place gets on the return list for sure!

This restaurant had some AMAZING vegan options! I had a plate full of vegan chilli cheese fries with sour cream and it was honestly the best food Ive had in a while. I also ordered a burger but was too full at the time to eat it. It still tasted great the next day however! Very cool atmosphere and staff was very friendly. The restaurant is right in the middle of Deep Ellum and within a 5 minute walk of several venues. If youre hunting for great vegan food in Dallas, eat here!

Only gave it one star because I couldnt do zero. The food is expensive and the quality it terrible. We paid $14 for eight over fried nachos chips... thats not an exaggeration, literally eight. When our food was eventually brought out to us they completely forgot one of our memebers who sat there for 20 mins before we could flag her down again. I dont blame the staff though, i blame the staffing because there wasnt nearly enough.
