Synopsis (if you dont like reading): I wouldnt come back here by choice. If I did, Id only have beer for dinner. My wife and I have been to brewpubs all over the country, and this is the first one we didnt like. Very disappointed after dinner last night. My wife and I are avid beer fans and borderline foodies. We stopped in for some good food and great beer, as we were told to expect. Instead, we got bad food and ok beer. We started with a scotch egg appetizer. It had a good flavor, but the texture suggested that it was prepared several hours before we ordered it and sat waiting under a heat lamp. The fact that it came out so quickly supported our theory. The coleslaw served with the scotch egg was overly sweet, soggy and drowning in mayo. We then ordered the Brew Stew and a Jager Schnitzel. The Brew Stew tasted like grocery store stew out of a can. The peas and mushrooms were soggy and chewy, respectively. The potatoes were bland and dry, and the pork the in the stew was dry as well. The mushrooms in the mushroom sauce on the Jager Schnitzel came out of the same can as those in the stew. The sauce itself came from a packet of powder two aisles down from the mushrooms in the grocery store. The breading on the pork cutlet tasted good, but the meat was overcooked and dry. My sides with the Schintzel were the German potato salad and the red cabbage. The potato salad was way too sweet and watery. The red cabbage was alright, but didnt taste fresh. Even the bread rolls couldnt do anything to save the meal. They reminded me of the bread you get as an afterthought with dinner from the church cafeteria on a Wednesday night. A German-town brewpub cant even pull off pumpernickel!? The beer was ok. I had the red and my wife had the porter. This was the least hoppy red Ive ever had, but it did show a nice smooth, sweet malty character. The porter was nice and roasty, but a little dry and too carbonated for the style. These beers were ok but not good enough to make up for the food and, unfortunately, not good enough to bring me back.

5/14/2016 - My mother, sister and I were had been walking all afternoon and were ending our day with a drink from another establishment. We had finished our drinks but were holding our souvenir cups. We decided to have supper before going back to our hotel room. We decided to eat at this restaurant. We were greeted by the hostess, Christine. I told her that we had a party of 3. She told me that she would be seating us in the back. Her exact quote was, "I will put you at a table in the back and we dont allow outside drinks." I told her that our drinks were empty. I admit that I was holding my cup in my hand and had put the straw in my hand. She grabbed 3 menus, turned around and walked to the back while we followed. She threw the menus down on the table, walked off, looked back at us and rolled her eyes. My sister went back to the front to talk to her and see what was the matter. My sister heard Christine telling another hostess or waitress, " and the f**king b**ch said, "they are empty." My sister asked her if there were a problem and she cussed my sister, told her to wait until she was off the clock and that she would take care of her a**!" My sister asked for the manager and while she was trying to talk to the manager this Christine kept interrupting, sticking her face into my sisters face, talking and cussing at her. The manager did nothing to stop her cussing, disrespectful attitude or her rudeness. He told her to go to the back to calm down. He dismissed my sister as if nothing was wrong, did not apologize for the rude behavior of his employee and allowed us to be disrespected. Needless to say, we left without eating, very disappointed in the management, attitude and behavior of the employees. We would have never expected behavior like this from a public establishment.

This is a good place for beer but not to eat. The beers stay pretty constant and do not change much. The staff is hit and miss. We found most of the wait staff kind of rude. The menu has some traditional German flare but mostly it is created to please tourists from all walks of life. I had the fish and chips and it did not settle well in my stomach. It was actually pretty disgusting. I do not like to still taste my dinner hours later and the fish tasted too "fishy" which is something I am pretty sensitive to. There is a beer garden in the back of the building. The main pathway to the back is very narrow making it very difficult to get strollers or wheelchairs through. Once to the beer garden there are only stairs and no ramps to get devices with wheels down into the main area. On tap they have about six beers to choose from, water, tea and pretzels (which were old and dried out). There are number monitors so you sit down and wait until your table in the main restaurant is ready. Our meal was cut short due to us pulling the stroller up to our table (and yet out of the way of others) so our cranky toddler could finally sleep. The staff did not like this and told us to either move the stroller back up against a wall and out of our view or to leave. We took the check. If you are a parent you understand the importance of sitting and savoring the silence while you have it especially while eating. We were very frustrated with the staffs attitude and feel this place is not family friendly at all. If you want good German, friendly people and a chicken dance go to Wahlberg, TX!

Well I am sure this used to be fun and exciting. Now it is not. I have a high tolerance ufor "unique" but there are a few things that made this a deal breaker. The first minor issue is pillows. There are 6 decorative pillows that are useless for sleeping and two tiny, flat pillows for sleeping. That coupled with the uneven temperature in the room and lack of a summer weight blanket made it either too hot or too cold. But heres the real deal breaker that is not disclosed until you check in and pay your money . . . their new neighbors. LIVE MUSIC right outside of your window if you are in the Admiral, Forest, Hunters, or Rustic rooms; but really you could hear it coming up the stairs on the far side of the building. The shut down the music by midnight, but really Fredericksburg rolls up the sidewalks early so most folks are in their rooms by 9 or 10. Which leaves 2 to 3 hours of listeneing to mediocre live music through the hotel walls. So join them you say . . . A good idea, but alas the covers were so bad that the missus and I just made fun of them in between our annoyed gripping and increaseing the volume of the TV in order to hear Anthony Bourdain pontificate about the culinary wonders of Lima Peru. I definitely felt that the purveyors played the gotcha game by not disclosing this before I paid for the room.
