Price: 3.5 Ambiance: 4.5 Service: 4.5 Staff Appearance: 4.5 Food: 3.5 Presentation: 3.5 Ordered 1. Chicken Tikka Masala 2. Handi Jaituni laham 3. Dal Bhukhara Overall: 4.0 I went to the Underground Indian cuisine for dinner in Las Colinas on Tuesday night. Though skeptical I convinced myself it would be cool to dine in a dungeon with walls of curry and saffron. Needless to say i let my imagination run wild in anticipation of dining in the subterranean. I entered the seemingly uninhabited restaurant to find my soon to be gharwali awaiting eagerly for my arrival, though I was confused at first she pointed me to the elevator that would supposedly take us to our final destination. After a brief ride down, the doors opened up to a maitre d awaiting our arrival, the room was moderately lit offering an intimate setting with pleasant folk music playing in the background. Unfortunately no walls of curry and saffron but some good pieces of indopak art hung on the walls. We got situated and starting going over the Menu and this is where the fun started. I have never come across a menu with such unique descriptive names of dishes offered, a lot of thought and effort went into the menu and our excitement just seemed to have hit the roof at this point. Took us a while but we finally settled on our order and anxiously awaited for our food. Not 15 mins in the food made its way out to our table, it looked scrumptious. Chicken tikka masala, boneless cubes of chicken pieces well cooked in a creamy tomato gravy, good portion size and spiced just right. Every bite with the buttery naan just added to the sensation. Dal bukhara the restaurants signature dish from New Delhi, good portion, soft creamy black lentils, mellow, mildly spiced and melts right on your tongue, though ive had better, It was none too dissappointing. And finally the supposedly traditional food of lakhnavi nawab "Handi Jaituni Laham". Mutton cooked with almond gravy in dumpukt style. creamy and flavorful but the meat lacked the tenderness and well not enough meat, sadly the status quo of nawabi is misrepresented. As mentioned earlier this place offers a colorful menu and I plan on going back to try more of the delicacies they offer. Revisit: Most definitely

This place seems to have serious hygiene issues. We were happy with the food served here till we found the flies in the biryani. It was found in the dish/bowl itself and not the plate, meaning it came from the kitchen. When we brought this to the notice of in-charge(who is probably owner of this place), the response was really horrifying! He simply said that, "this is unavoidable and happens to 1% customer! I can not help it, since the flies are everywhere including your house." He did not even apoligize or showed a slightest concern about the same. I asked about where is insect trap and he said, "it is not required". It was very arrogant and showing lot of attitude. He offered us to deduct the biryani from bill, which I resisted because that was not the point! We had driven 30 miles one way in anticipation of good food, so deducting that was not going to compensate what we had! And the guy just went away, saying I will take care of the bill!!! Due to the poor light(oh, call it ambience!) someone might not even notice the insects so taking care of the bill is not going to help. This was really annoying. So if you want to be 1% of those customers and have all kind of insects in your food and hear that, its everywhere! - please go ahead! Moreover, they messed with my order of salted lime soda, instead they brought sweet. The curry/salan and Raita provided with biryani was not good. Chicken Afghani tikka was good though.

I went here this summer and the food is nothing to write home about; please dont listen to what these "local guides" are talking about; they probably want to rack up more points and attention for themselves on Google Reviews. The waitstaff at this restaurant may be attentive, but you cant tell the chef anything about improving the spirit of the food itself. The rolls (under appetizers) that I tried were fresh, of course, but the ingredients were not disclosed very well, and I found myself eating jalapeno slices in my food when I specifically ordered "non spicy"! Have we gotten to the point where every Indian (including myself) only thinks "non spicy" is all about the heat of the masala involved? ....if we have, then this Generation serving food is just "dumb". "Spicy" means anything and everything that that means "chilies" and a jalapeno (even though it is not red, kids) is a CHILE. ITS HOT. The Dal that I ordered lacked something in depth; though it was nothing about adding chilies at all. The Uber driver I used going home told me everyone he picks up at this restaurant thinks the food is "okay", but nothing beyond that. I must agree with the Uber driver. Dont do an art restaurant unless you have a chef that can bring a real Presence and atmosphere of fame or fun to your restaurant. BECAUSE YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF LAS COLINAS, KIDS.

treating customers right matters. And Underground Indian Cuisine failed completely. You lost a customer tonight. - TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and terrible food: It took 20 minutes for a waiter to get water. It took another 2 hour to get our food. It was obvious either management had not scheduled the correct amount of wait staff OR they had cut too many wait staff too soon, as the current wait staff was in the weeds and incapable of providing good customer service the entire time we were there. and yes they do charge $ 1 for 1/4 onion and $2 for one papadum; in all the indian restaurant i been to it is free of charge. and after visiting the restaurant i check to see the Irving health departments restaurant inspections because the restaurant was so filthy. When I recently checked the scores online, I saw that this restaurant received a letter grade of "D". There had to be some good reason to receive grade "D". and when we told Manager that the service was unacceptable and so he then started to argue instead listening to customer first. Never ever again ! we hated it.

I came here for the lunch buffet last March. Certainly not the largest selection of buffet items Ive ever had, but it suffices. Id say the meat quality is a bit higher here than what Ive experienced at some other Indian buffets in the past. The place technically opens at 11am but they werent really ready to serve until 11:15am. They should probably change their hours given that I doubt many people come in at 11am. The place was pretty dead but this was Monday morning before noon. BTW, a previous review complained about the quality of food on Mondays buffet and I didnt experience any quality issues. Service is good. Parking can be validated. Walking to the restaurant from the garage is a bit of a hassle but thats just the nature of this dated structure (either u go down stairs to the canal and back up stairs and then back down stairs to the restaurant, or you walk through the vehicle entrance to the parking garage). I wont say that this place wowed me but it wasnt bad and I would certainly recommend others try it out.

FOUND HAIR IN 2 DIFFERENT DISHES!!! Restroom: in the mens restroom, it smelled, secondly, there was urine all over the ground Food: Found a long strand of hair in 2 separate dishes that I ordered -Food was quite bland to say the least. On their menu they claim to cook in a way that enhances the flavors, but my question is "what flavors?". -Ordered Mango lassi (Save yourself the time and dont order it). Lassi is suppose to be milky in texture, ours was literally drinking mango flavor yogurt out of a straw (returned after 1 sip) Service: Horrible to say the least -Never once did the server come to fill our waters, naan we ordered took 12 minutes ultimately making our food lukewarm -To top it all off, service was so bad I had to personally walk up to the podium to hand the gentleman my bill. Never would recommend to anyone ever!
