Food ordered: vegetable biryani & goat biryani Good: vegetable biryani Food quality: 3/5 Ambience :3/5 Staff :4/5 Portion size: good Went here for lunch at 2pm with my wife.we were the only ones in the restaurant at this time. Since I heard a lot about their biryanis, I ordered the vegetable and the goat biryani(both medium spicy). Now being an avid biryani fan, I am very critical when reviewing biryanis. Both biryanis came with raita and saalan (which is like a spicy oily gravy). The vegetable biryani was really good although the carrots and the potatoes were raw. The goat biryani was just too salty. I thought it was probably because my portion was scrapped from the bottom of the vessel. The waiting staff was nice to replace it with goat kheema biryani which was essentially chicken biryani with goat kheema gravy in the center. Flavor profile was on the Spicier side with heat from whole spices which I think masked the meat flavor. The saalan was flavorless so we did not touch it but the raita was good and I did order another helping (charged extra). Overall I think the food was OK but I may give it another try because it has really good reviews and may have come on a bad day.

Best Indian food I have had in Dallas. I moved from Houston about a year ago and have tried a bunch of Indian restaurants in Dallas. I was pretty disappointed as none of them were as good as what I was used to down in Houston. Then I found Astoria Biryani and it as good if not slightly better than my favorite Houston Indian food restaurant. Their buffet is amazing! Everything I tried was rich and delicious and I even found myself going back for seconds on many of their vegetarian dishes even though I am a die hard meat eater. The price of the buffet was pretty cheap compared to the few other Indian food buffets I have been to while in Dallas. I highly recommend their tikka masala, paneer butter masala, and the boneless chicken biryani. They have the best tandori chicken I have ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was practically bursting with flavor. The standards such as basmati rice and naan were excellently prepared and my mouth is watering even as I write about them. Their biryani dishes (like an Indian fried rice) are really impressive, the many flavors of the dish synergize with each other well. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, do yourself a favor and eat here.

Cons: They dont serve alcohol.. Slightly over priced (given the size of some curries served up). Service was a tad bit slow. PROS: Im from India so believe me when i say their kheema ( minced boneless goat) biryani is the best stuff i have ever had... we were surprised by the huge quantity they served up on the single platter.. (single is the smallest size they have). One single size biryani is enough to feed 3 people.. If you order a curry i would suggest order the bread basket to go along with it as you get an assortment indian breads. As a starter the chicken 65 is quite good.. you can tell them how spicy you want it to be depending on your preference.. The staff were attentive and extremely polite and hospitable.. Overall the food was worth the wait.. and im sure in a week or two ill probably head back for some more kheema biryani.

I had their Biryani, at first I thought the price was a little steep, but the portion was huge, I brought so much back. The food was really tasty and the service was good. The place is easy find with ample parking, and neat. I would say it is pretty authentic Hyderabadi biryani. I wish they had Thali options for lunch, or smaller cheaper portions. That will really help me go there more often, if they had a simple lunch -- biryani, curry and half naan for under $10. $15 felt a little steep for lunch, but I did bring a lot back with me for dinner.

First time coming to Astoria Biryani House and loved it. We walked in and there Indian music was nice and not loud at all just enough to have a good conversation the place was very clean and the owner greeted us right away. He asked us if we were familiar with Indian cuisine to which we said that were not very familiar. He gave us great suggestions. We ordered the chicken lollipop, lamb, Biryani, and a chicken kebab sampler. Im running out of battery but the gist is THIS IS A GREAT PLACE DEFINITELY COMING BACK. Come if you are a foodie

Excellent service..!! We have been waiting for our order almost two hours and we have not got it yet. I am writing review while sitting in the restaurant. Management told me to wait for 10 minutes but it already took more than 1:45 Hr. I will never go to this one. Never had this kind of experience before in my life. You should have to tell everything truth to your customer. You can not lie to them.

I ordered a bowl of vegetable biryani that was $12 (the most I have ever paid for this dish). Waited 45 min for carry out. The rice was crispy, dry, and there were hardly any vegetables in it (literally 2 carrots, and 2 potato pieces). I love biryani and it is usually pretty hard to mess up, but this was so gross I could not even eat it... Biggest waste of money!

The veg biryani was good, but the ambiance was strange. An unnerving soft piano loop played the entire time we were there, something like you would expect to here at a funeral visitation (for someone who died of old age, not someone who died in a tragic zip lining accident). Next time I will order to go.

Dined here for lunch with a group of friends on Saturday. All the Biryanis we tried were awesome. Keema biryani is a must try. Rest of the food was nothing special. Definetely over priced. A glass of mango lassi was $6.99. Service was good and food was served quick.

Food is very good. I wasnt happy with the service, they only had one waiter and he was serving many tables so we were left with no water for a while and had to wait 10 minutes to make a payment. Delicious indian food made up for poor service.

I have never tasted such a horrible Biriyani. Had an upset stomach. I thought as the name suggests they should have good biriyani, sorry to know this is not the case.

Tasty, authentic and flavorful biryani here. I always get the boneless chicken. The portions are HUGE. For most people you can order the personal size and share.
