***Disclaimer*** Over the last few months my opinions about this place may have become biased! My wife and I are very much into high quality Japanese foods. With that being said, it should also be noted that we are extremely picky eaters. Throughout the course of our marriage we have tried numerous establishments in search of that perfect mesh of flavors and atmosphere and I am proud to say we have found that here. Every member on staff is welcoming, friendly and fun. Both of us can and will honestly say that we have not found a single item on the menu that we havent enjoyed completely. All of the food is prepared with a precision and care that true chefs always strive to have represented in their creations. Due to personal health issues I have to be very selective of where and what I eat and I can proudly say that I almost exclusively visit Yama Izakaya and Sushi if I decide to go out to eat. The menu is very diverse and easily modifiable to fit any sort of allergy needs and the staff is always wiling to accommodate your tastes or restrictions. Ive made it a mission to spread the news about this place to friends and other selective eaters. Be sure to head over and try it out. The prices are very good and you wont be disappointed. If youre looking for recommendations from the menu, be sure the try these: Nabeyaki Udon (my wife gets it EVERY time, no joke) Tempura Shrimp Tempura Yams Teriyaki Chicken Chicken Breast Yakitori Onigiri (riceballs, so good!) 5 Treasure Roll Wagyu Beef Sushi (this is Texas Wagyu... still very very delicious) I really could list everything weve eaten, but I think you already get the idea... Thanks for reading!

Came here for lunch on the recommendation of a friend; so glad I now know where is an AUTHENTIC Japanese joint in North DFW. From the Yakuza decor to the kitchen staff who actually know Japanese cuisine, Yama is a solid joint for a variety of Ramen, sushi, sashimi delicacies.... I cant wait to come back; the menu is pretty wide in variety. Please dont cop out with a California roll, try a genuine Chirashi or their pretty good ramen with very solid broth. Their raw selection here is excellent, good sake selection and wines are cheap (~$20/bottle on up)! The actual restaurant resembles similar to what you may find in Japan, they have a good spicy mayo you should request, and best of all the prices are actually reasonable for what you get! Dont settle for Japanese food cooked by who-knows-who-I-look-Asian-so-just-believe-Im-Japanese that also sells General Tsos chicken. Yama bests Blue Fish as my favorite Japanese joint in DFW so far. Authentic, a great ambience and experience, talk to the chefs!!

Very good food and friendly staff make this place one of the places I frequent most. The food is authentically Japanese. The decor and atmosphere are also appropriate. Prices are reasonable, though not necessarily a steal. The tonkotsu ramen here was the first real ramen I had in Texas and continues to set the standard with which other ramen are measured against. The sushi is always fresh and prepared well, though Ive only had the sashimi and nigiri (I dont know much about rolls). The menu is extensive and many items are not easy to find in most Japanese restaurants around here. Finally, their hours are very accommodating as they open for lunch as well as dinner until 2am, but do check with their website or on Google maps for the precise time, as they are different depending on the day. This place is like a small piece of Japan in Dallas. Well worth the experience.

Service was good but the sushi rolls I ordered were some of the worst Ive ever had. The rice was cold and hard. I could tell that they gave me pre-prepped rolls n added the toppings, which is very insulting because these were not happy hour rolls. They were 11-13 dollar rolls. The volcano roll with crawfish tails came out first. Disaster. Crawfish tails were way too hard...the volcano topping itself was too thick and luke warm. The rolls underneath the topping were cold, hard and were not well made. I was so hungry that I just scraped the volcano topping off and ate the rolls. Dragon roll came out second. A tad better, but once again..they served a cold roll and added the baked eel and avocado on top. The roll was so cold that it caused a sensation in my teeth when I bit it....and thats when I asked for my check and to take the Dragon roll off my ticket. What a waste!

Went in for a lunch thinking just to get a Bento. Pleasantly surprised for great service, various authentic Japanese offerings...and even Italian pasta lunch specials. Something you might expect in Tokyo...I will surely come back. 舌の肥えたお友達にご紹介頂きました。お店は明るくオープン。スタッフの方々も にこやかでキビキビ。イタリアのパスタには驚きましたが、試して正解。抹茶の効いたデザートも美味でした。一押しです。

We have actually been here twice. This is a VERY legit Japanese place. Please go here with an open mind and NOT expecting Americanized food. We love this place. The staff is amazing and super nice. We get seated pretty quickly and always get any questions about the food answered. I dont know how the sushi is here, but the Ramen, fried shrimp, grilled squid, Onigiri, Edemame, skewered meats and tempora ebi (WHOLE SHRIMP) were amazing! Even our picky eating kids devoured them. You can sit at a bar type counter and watch everything being cooked, or that have booths and tables. I really want to try their deserts but I am always too full.

I went with a friend and sat at the bar because the tables were full (weekday at 1:00). I ordered the Chicken broth based Ramen Noodle soup. Since I was a bit hungry, I also ordered the Crab rolls. I asked for the Ramen to be spicy. And it was. When I sipped the soup, and it went to the back of my mouth, it really hit me! But a sip of water and I was good ;-) The Crab rolls were good also. They were slightly crunchy, which I assumed must have been because it was briefly deep-fried. But I would recommend this place for a light to medium lunch or dinner (depending on how much you order...).

This was my first time in an izakaya. I had a great time here with good food and company. We ordered a Tonkatsu Ramen and a Yama Ramen. The Yama used wavy ramen noodle made by Ippudo in NYC and was in a chicken broth. The tonkatsu was in a creamy broth. Both were tasty and flavorful so it is hard to remember which one I preferred. The sushi was expensive, but very fresh. Service was great. We came here around midnight after I had just flew in from DC. The restaurant still had quite a few people dining.

This is one of my new favorite sushi places. Had to sell my list of a must-try for quite some time and finally tried it a little while back and it was amazing. The service was great we sat at the bar/kitchen and even the cooks were a wonderful experience to the evening. All of the food was great we also tried a wonderful cold sake recommended by our server. Just an all-around great experience with great food.

We got ramen, sushi, ribs, Onigiri, vegetable tempura, and lots of sake for $50. Every bit of food was extremely authentic, homemade, and the best Ive ever had. The sushi was especially and the ramen tastes like its been made the same way for hundreds of years. Also the service is excellent and its a super chill atmosphere. This place is amazing in every aspect and its something everyone should experience.
