Per the manager, "We have been open for over 20 years, and noone has complained." Well, obviously there isnt anyone from this establishment/franchise who cares enough to read these reviews. Regardless, Im complaining now....just as many others who have done before me. I decided to take my two children to lunch today at Lucky Village. They wanted something different besides P.F. Changs. When we arrived, the entrance was warm and muggy, due to the door being open. We were greeted by the hostess with a straight face, asking if my party consisted of only us three. "Yes maam, " I replied. We were seated immediately. Before heading to the buffet line, I spent about 25 seconds fist fighting with a horse fly. That should have been a RED FLAG right there. The food was meh, "average", but my kiddos were impressed with the variety of selections. Before I went for dessert, my 7 year-old son warned me, "Dont eat the brownies with the sesame seeds on it, Mommy. There was a fly on them." RED FLAG#2. After the newness of the environment wore off, and our bellies were satisfied, I received the bill. I was charged for 2 Adults, and 1 Child. Hmmmm? I walked slowly to the cashier looking a bit puzzled, and notified her of the mistake. She pointed to a wall measurement along the wall and responded, "We charge by height." I tried to explain that I walked in with 2 children...a 7 year-old and a 10 year-old, not units of measurement. "We always charge like this. Its always been this way," she replied nonchalantly. After asking to speak with the manager, I was directed to speak to a very degrading individual. The Asian woman informed me that I should have asked about the prices before I sat down to eat, because thats what she does when she goes to places. Clearly, this isnt about the money (in my case), but ok. Since this was a day of "advice giving", I gave some of my own. "If you have to go to places where you have to inquire about prices, you may not need to go there in the first place." I fired back at her. Then, she tried to elevate her vocals and advise me that I should have read the policy on the wall when I came in because I passed right by them. "Oh, you mean that policy?" I snapped back. "The one thats not clearly visible upon entrance, nor is it mentioned on your website, yet its posted around the corner above the cashiers station when you exit?" Her EXACT RESPONSE, and I quote, "No, we dont put that on our website." Why not? You adorn your web page with pictures of the various food selections, your decor, etc. Why not inform the consumers that the real cost to dine at your restaurant comes at a hefty, hidden cost...their equality. Bottom line, this IS a form of discrimination, just the same as ageism, sexism, racism, and classism exists in our country. The manager eventually reversed the charges and reprinted a bill that reflected those in my dining party....1 Adult and 2 Children.

This Lucky Village buffet has always been adequate. Its of course not a high-quality establishment, considering how its a buffet and such places tend to value quantity over quality. The food is delicious, though, and the sushi is always great. There is a variety of food available for customers to choose from, though dont expect any traditional or authentic Chinese dishes. These type of Chinese buffets are Americanized and have heavy Western cultural influences, despite its lavished oriental decor. The service is always adequate and Ive yet to have an issue with them. In fact, its hard for me to rate this only a 1/3 in service because I feel its so close to 2/3. The staff hasnt done anything special or outstanding, however; for the time being, Ill leave it officially at 1/3, though a more accurate one would be around 1.6/3. If you like to eat until youre full and you dont mind slightly above-average quality food, then Lucky Village is the place for you!

Good service, fast and polite. Quite a selection. Mostly bland. Most of the shellfish was worse, terrible, exceptions were salmon sashimi which was a surprise, okay but not that fresh, and sauteed clams which were okay though plain and without much flavoring. Eggdrop Soup had no flavor. Im from NY and have had fantastic Chinese food there as well as in San Fran. I dont need fantastic, Id settle for good. Three chicken dishes were good, but fried rice was just plain white rice with a little color. This is very Americanized, with mac and cheese, wings and ribs on the Sunday menu. Im surprised Houston puts up with this. I know now that I cant trust Houston reviews of Chinese food places. Fortunately, Ive had better in ChinaTown here and hope there will be consistency there.

Im not going to this place any more nor my family and friends. The last time I went there with my wife, she had some sushi and in one of the sushi rolls she found a sticker with a bar code, those stickers that you find on fruits and vegetables at the grocery store. My wife and I were very disgusted that we were not able to keep eating. I asked for the manager and complained to him but to my surprise, he barely apologized and took the sushi roll with the bar code sticker away. I was not expecting a free dinner but Ive been treated better at other places. So, Im avoiding this place now. management needs a course on better customer service and their employees a little more quality control for the food! Ill give it a zero star but I cant, unfortunately.

Extremely low quality. 95% of the food is under temperature. Chicken alarmingly low temperature, with metallic copper taste to it. Boiled eggs also carry the strange metallic taste. Horrific taste. Chicken wings under temperature, the bones are unstable they break into fragments and become inedible. The cream cheese puffs where under room temperature the cheese was not melted it was solid as if it just came out of the fridge. I found myself avoiding nearly all the food they have to offer, and sticking to just the strawberry sauce bananas since it was the only item available that was fresh and tastes half decent.

I used to come here all the time in 04-06 when I was about 14 and it used to be very good. Returned recently and boy, has it changed. The food was dreadful to say the least and there were little ratchet kids running around grabbing food from the buffet, taking a bite and then putting it back (of course the parents did nothing) also, $14 per person?! LOL. But needless to say, wont be going back. The only two star saving grace was the staff. I received very considerate service from them
