I used to go here as a grad student at least once a week. Excellent atmosphere and good food at reasonable prices. Ample parking and a staff that is very attentive to their customers. No bad experiences in 3 years of patronage, and several above and beyond such as the owner spotting a group of us out at another establishment and buying us a round of drinks. Really one of the best restaurants Ive ever been a regular at.

Went here for the first time in a while last week, and had an excellent experience. Service was quite prompt, the food was reasonably priced, and the complimentary chips and salsa were a welcome addition. There is a variety of different dishes, along with a few vegetarian dishes, that were quite pleasing to the pallet! There is tough competition in Mankato for Hispanic food, but Mazatlan has stood the test of time.

Inconsistent Mexican food restaurant. Sometimes the food is really good, other times average. Also, the service is likewise inconsistent, depending on who your waiter is. This location is a former Burger King and that fact doesnt help the overall layout. While not a bad choice, there are better Mexican restaurants in the community for you to choose from. I would put this one solidly in the middle.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town! The food is really good but the plating could use some work. The staff are always really pleasant and are very good about checking up on you to make sure youre pleased. Dinner time is crazy busy, so if you want to avoid waiting I would suggest having an earlier dinner.

This is our familys favorite place in town for Mexican cuisine. The prices are fair, the food is fast, hot and delicious.The Texan margaritas are tasty and my children love the different varieties of Mexican sodas on the menu. The staff has always been extremely friendly and vary attentive.

Such a great place to spend a dinner for two. Attentive service, hot food, generous portions and the chili sauce was very good..love cilantro! The booths seem to provide a more private and intimate atmosphere. We will eat here again and again. One of the better Mexican restaurants around.

My daughter and mother in law ate there last night and now both have food poisoning. Not the first time Ive heard of it Happening here but the first time they have ate there and then they get sick. Im calling the health department Monday and hopefully more people dont get sick

I came here for desert. Not a good choice. The fried ice cream wasnt fried at all. It was nothing more than than soggy cornflakes coating cheap icecream. I tried to eat it but it was so bad I couldnt. A wasted $5.00. I will not come back here again.

Horrible service. Terrible food. Food was cold. Language barrier, wait staff are just robots. Can not explain the food. Just a wham bam turn the tables, take the money and get these customers out the door. Taco Bell or Taco Bueno is a better choice

This was the first restaurant I visited in Mankato after moving here several weeks ago. Coming from a much larger city out west, and being Mexican myself, I know good Mexican food. This was fair at best. Service and ambiance were great.

Decent spot. The food was good. Both the salsas that came with the chips were mild. The beans seemed to be out of a can. Either than that the grilled carne asada and chicken were delicious. The service was quick and generous.

I absolutely love El Mazatlan. One of my all time favorite restaurants. This restaurant beats any Mexican restaurant in NYC, Tampa, Miami, Chicago or any other city that I have been to. Easily one of Mankatos crown jewels.

A great environment for even greater mexican food/drinks. Snappy service brings your free chips and salsa as you sit down and I recommend burritos tapitias with a Pacifico!! Muey bueno!!

Eaten here four times. All four times I got food poisoning or extreme bathroom visits... Love hot food and eat in Mexico often (live in Texas now), so its not the spice. Stay away

Dont expect Michelin quality anything here. Its edible tex-mex in Mankato. Dont drive out of your way but itd be fine to stop it for some margaritas with chips and salsa.
