Avoid this place at all costs, seriously. At first, I thought this restaurant was going to offer a nice dinner for my wife, son, and I. I was wrong. The restaurant has a nice feel to it, but the food is horrible, especially for the price! We both ordered the steak fajitas but I added shrimp to mine. The portions were very small for $14 EACH and the quality was beyond poor. I would have enjoyed going to Taco Bell better. We ordered the chicken tacos for my son, another meal that tasted horrible, soggy, and looked like it wasnt fresh, not kidding. So, we dared to try the desert, another mistake that was made. We ordered something that was supposed to have powered sugar on top that you dip into a pumpkin sauce, lets just say it didnt resemble anything in the picture. The bread was burnt, barely any powered sugar, and the sauce was watery, mmmm yummy, not really. I rarely write reviews, but I wouldnt want anybody to experience the same quality of service we had. We spent $50 at this restaurant and have no idea what we actually received in return....

We haven dined here before but everything was really off today . Frozen margarita tasted like frozen water. Our server was completely lack luster . The food was bland . We couldnt wait to get out of there . The whole atmosphere was depressing . We asked for our check. We waited 12 minutes then decided to just go to the cashier and leave. Our waitress then ran to the cashier to hand us our bill . I know how hard being a waiter can be. I was in the food and beverage industry for many years so I can sympathize but this waitress needs to find a new job . The reason I say this is because we had her wait on us before . The same disconnected experiece. The cashier was our sad send off at El Fenix. As charming as a toad .

To start off, the service is good, the chips and salsa is good.... do not get the queso u less u like ur queso tasting like water. The chicken tortilla soup which is on the appetizer menu, doesnt come with chicken unless u ask for chicken in it, the broth is bland, if u add lemon and salt its a little better. The beans and rice taste bland. This place doesnt have ur taste buds dancing for sure. My daughter got the cheese enchiladas with sour cream sauce, tasted ok. I got the fresh spinach enchiladas with chicken and ranchera sauce, no flavor at all. Had to add lime and Salsa to my enchiladas.... overall, will not be back....

My husband and I went here for lunch. The chips and Salsa were amazing. The staff was great , very courteous. I ordered chicken enchiladas and I would definitely get them again. My husband ordered cheese enchiladas and was disappointed because there was no cheese inside. He literally opened one up to check and saw a tiny sprinkle of cheese in the middle. Lol. Luckily he ordered them covered with queso so he could still taste SOME cheese. We were in a hurry (just our lunch break) so we just finished our food we had. He wasnt impressed at all and said were probably not going to eat here again

Very poor service from the waiter. My mother in law asked for beans instead of rice and when we received it had rice asked for them to fix it and the just took it back and just scraped the rice off and put beans on the plate leaving rice under the vegetables and the tacos. To top it all off they got my brother in law order wrong also asked for a shredded beef enchilada with no beans and they gave him ground beef with a lot of beans. But the management was excellent and got the orders fixed and when we asked for the check he told us not to worry about it.

Mediocre food and slow service. Had lunch here. Chips were heavy and greasy. The salsa was decent but the serving size is about 2 tablespoons with zero options, unless you purchase the appetizer. Our waitress left an empty soda glass on the table 20 minutes before noticing it needed refilling. Ditto for the chips. Both entrees ordered came out incorrect. It seems they served what was readily available rather than what was on the menu. The atmosphere was dark and uninviting. OTB is better, and that is not saying much.

Service poor. 45 min for food to arrive. Plates were hot, but food was not. Server disappeared for long periods. When I did finally receive a drink refill it was by another server. Chips and salsa were good but food was below average. When finished we waited for server to bring check. Finally gave up and went to cashier and paid bill after describing order. There are better restaurants in town and will recommended them.

I could have gone to Taco Bueno and the food would have actually been better. The chips and salsa were okay, but, if I am going to a nice restaurant and spend more money than I would at a fast food restaurant, I expect the food to be worth it. There was nothing worth mentioning about the food. Everything was bland with basically no flavor what-so-ever. I wont be returning to El Fenix.

First ate dinner there and service was good. Went back for lunch another day and the same server brought chips and watery salsa and took our drink orders. Never saw the drinks or him again. When we complained to the manager as we were righteously storming out, he said he would comp the chips and salsa. You mean we PAID for the crap last time??? Bye, Fenix.

The food was subpar with very little flavor. The portions were so small I was still Hungary, and when we got the bill and it was $39.99 for two adults and one small child we were not happy! The price of one glass of sweet tea is a whopping $2.49!! Save your money and find a better place to eat. The atmosphere is dull and dark and the music is to loud.

The restaurant was all but empty and it look 45 minutes to get our food. There was an awful smell coming from one of our plates, come to find out it was our refried beans. They tasted and reeked of rotten fish! It was horrific. None of us could finish our food after that. Love El fenix, just not this location.

Service in this place is poor to fair. Employees know you are there and that youre not going anywhere. The food is not as tasty as other Tex-Mex joints around Denton. Isnt as appealing as others. The place is very nice, they did a real good job redecorating it, but Im not there to play interior designer.

We ended up leaving after looking at the menu prices compared to other places like OTB and when we found out that if you want tortillas with the queso they charge you $.25 each. Drove right over to OTB and had a great meal for several dollars less than we would have spent here. I will not be coming back.

A little pricy but worth it. I just left and i will tell you the food was delicious and the waiters were very helpful to myself and my disabilities. They even helped me out to my car with the leftovers. Very nice and respectful people! Impressed.
