Disclaimer: This review does not cover the food served at this restaurant. Extremely poor crowd management. The first time I went was at dinner time on Sunday with a party of two people. I was informed that the expected wait time is 1h 45minutes. Decided to wait a while to see if I could get lucky. For a good 15 minutes, 3 tables for 2 people were left completely empty despite the massive crowd outside. The staff were writing down names on a waitlist. When a table opened up, they would walk outside the restaurant and yell the next name on the waitlist. Often times, these people have already left because of the extremely long wait. The staff would walk in, look at the name list, then walk out to yell the next name again. Extremely frustrating to watch, and incredulously inefficient. A simple queue number system (like the ones at Boba Tea stores) would have made things so much more efficient. I gave up and went to Zigul Zigul BBQ down the road instead. Its cheaper too. The second time, I tried calling to make a reservation (for two people). Was rejected by the restaurant as they only accept reservations for a party of ten or more. I went down to the restaurant after a movie at around 8pm and this time the wait time was 2 hours. Needless to say, I didnt eat there for dinner. tldr: *Extremely* long wait times due to very inefficient seating system at weekend dinner times.

Bad customer service. I and my family was so excited to come here for dinner. Everything was fine until the last minute. One of the waitress helper, not even our waitress, ask the change our burn grill but I said We were full. We still have half of the portion of the raw teriyaki chicken, NOTHING ELSE, because my sister cant finish it. She told us that it would be extra charge for unfinished dish and I said my sister was full. She turned her face to be rude and ask for the waitress to come and tell us. The waitress was so embarrassed and say thats ok. They took the chicken plate away and continue to give me the check. When our waitress gave us the check, she repeated that She didnt charge me the unfinished dish but they will next time. I was pissed right away. I paid almost $86 for only 3 people and I couldnt leave the food which is not good and no one liked it. The portion for beef was so tiny that made me have to order at least 4 times to be enough for everyone to taste. The chicken plate was so HUGE like they want to make you full because of the chicken. Another bad thing was there was a hair in my sister steak. We gave the manager the plate as he passed by. No SORRY or APOLOGIES. They just grabbed it and went away. We had to wait 10 minutes to get the new plate for her. Ridiculous service. Would be my and family last time

EXTRAORDINARY FOOD, high-intensity environment! I first tried this restaurant on a date with my significant other, and the both of us agreed -- this was probably some of the best food we have tasted in a LONG time! The cost of entry was rather expensive -- 25 dollars per person during dinner -- but for 2 hours of all you can eat of some of the best quality meat around? VERY well worth it! I strongly recommend the beef belly & hawaiian beef myself! The servers were also extremely kind & patient! I felt a little bad because, as newcomers, we had a bad habit of leaving the grill blackened with burnt food residue, but we always had our grills swiftly replaced, and any new orders of food were almost immediately ready to prep! Make sure to treat the servers kindly -- they work extremely hard in a loud, smoky environment -- its far from an easy job! Speaking of, I will have to forewarn that any date at Gen will be more reminiscent of a nightclub party rather than a quiet restaurant experience. The music is loud, food is constantly smoking, and theres a lot of general noise in the restaurant! It can make for a fun, fast-paced atmosphere; but be aware if youre looking for a slower evening, or are sensitive to louder noise (as I am). I will absolutely be planning future events with friends at GEN!

Decent Korean buffet with average food and slow service. At the time of this review, the cost for dinner buffet is $24.99/person. They have a variety of selections to choose from, including beef (bulgogi, galbi), pork, chicken, etc. The beef marination tasted average, nothing too special. They really lack in variety of side dishes, those small dishes you get for free at almost every Korean restaurant--you get about five small portions and a big bowl of salad. However, you can order some soup or rice to go with your meal. I added fried calamari to go with the dinner, and it was one of the worst idea. It was too dry and oily (pictured). The restaurant is quite upscale to the eyes, with hip-hop music and a modern touch. The bathroom is very clean and had luxury cloth towels. The staff consisted of young adults, which appeared to be quite slow with their service. We waited fifteen minutes to get our rice, and when we asked about the rice, they said it just got done cooking. Our waiter never ask to refill our water or side dishes. It took him ten minutes to ring up our check. Overall, the experience here felt short. This is probably due to training and perhaps because this place just opened recently. Leaving there made us feel a bit bitter--was that worth it?

Got there at 2pm, told would be 30-40 mins wait when we saw there were empty tables. We went to front desk to check on table at 2:45pm. One of the girls in the front desk said that we were the next. After that, we checked a couple more times still been told we were the next, even when we saw at least five groups seated. At 3:00pm, we saw groups who came after us got their tables so we went to check with the girl in the front desk again. She finally said we were the next but we had to finish our milk tea to be seated. For the past 30 mins, nobody said a word about it. At least they could have told us when we were checking the table. Instead of telling us to finish milk tea before seated, they just simply passed our table to the next group. Hows that fair? We have waited for an hour to watch someone else jump to the tables. So if you are there with a milk tea, be prepared theyd "refuse" to serve you a table. It is specially ridiculous that GEN is a restaurant surroundings by lots of milk tea shops. First time experience and will never be there again.

Modern interior with terrible customer service. After ordering 6 meats with half of them being bad I inquired with management about discounting the bill. I didnt want a free pass but also didnt feel I should pay for bad meat. The meat had soured my appetite enough to make me want to leave. Therefore, I had no interest in taking advantage of their all-you-can-eat offer to find better meats. After inquiring with a manager about a 20% to 40% discount (half the meat was bad so this was an acceptable request) I waited another 10 minutes to be told, "no, but Ill personally take care of you next time." Having been to Korean BBQ restaurants before I can say without a doubt the meat was bad and Id much rather drive across the street to Omi Korean Bar & Grill. The meat at Omi is tastier and Ive never had a bad experience. I dont recommend this restaurant. Id go to Omi Korean Bar & Grill instead! Its literally across the street.
