After having eaten just about every style of bbq, both domestic and foreign, locally and abroad, Texas, Kansas City, Chicago, Korea, Japan, North Carolina…youd expect that, as a grown folk, I wouldve found the bbq that all other bbqs would be judged by. But it wasnt so. Id find a piece here, a flavor there, a texture, a side, a sauce…but nothing that really put together the perfect holy grail of bbq. Until last night, at Smokehouse Tavern. I have, after these many years, found the best. The hot link was spectacular; rich and spicy, perfectly crunchy snap and wonderfully moist, soft inside. The pulled pork was so tangy! Not at all overcooked or overly smokey. It needed no additional flavoring. Just divine. The ribs were smokey and fatty and juicy and just right although I wish I had some sauce to dip these in. The deviled egg was the best Ive ever tried and the cornbread is pretty damn good too. Im having more, tonight. I love you, Smokehouse Tavern.

Came here very excited as were big Top Chef fans and it usually pays off. The was good and the drinks on point for craft and creative. Im from the southeast and I verified my mantra: BBQ from any state west of the Mississippi River that does also touch the river and Texas iust isnt the real deal. Brisket burnt ends just were NOT burnt ends. They were very nice very soft/tender flavorful brisket cubes. Braised greens were excellent but needed to be chopped. Apple Kim Chee was good, but lets rename it Korean Style Pickled Apple with a disclaimer that has no spice/heat. The ribs were ok/acceptable. You got more of the rub than the bbq pork flavor. The smoked chocolate was pretty cool. Its a cool place and flavors are really pleasant. Lets leave serious business of this type to the land of college footballs SEC Conference.

I dined in there several times. I am a serious smoked food eater. I rarely buy smoked food at public places. I usually prepare my own or my friends. I recently picked up some food during the holidays that was sadly subpar. Sometimes things are out of our control happen bad piece of meat on them mechanical breakdown what have you. My family has a restaurant I understand. I have contacted smokehouse I am waiting to see how its resolved. Im sure we will resolve this. As I said This was first time that I found somebody of the Quality I enjoy. I hope to have many years of a good relationship with smokehouse tavern. Ill adjust rating accordingly.

This place was DELISH! Probably the best bbq Ive ever had. Pulled pork and chicken were tasty, mac and cheese really creamy, beans were chunky like chili and REALLY good (and I never order bbq beans!). They have different sized plates so you can order more or less as needed, which I really liked because usually bbq places only have huge plates and we end up taking a lot home. Their cornbread had bacon and honey (?) on it and was pretty good actually. Our server was really friendly and attentive, and our food came out quick. Good drink menu. Well definitely be back!

An experience very similar too Russell Street bbq. The comparison I would make is that Russell Street is a bbq restaurant that foodies enjoy, while Smokehouse is a fine dining experience for foodies that happens to serve bbq. The sause is a little bit too acidic, which makes it good on the meat but unable to hold up on its own. Ribs are top notch and all foods made how you would expect them.

Deliciously smoked meats, perhaps one of the best pulled porks Ive had: bit of crust and "drier" than many (its so often just a mushy pile of something similar to meat -- not the case here). Brisket was tender and served with an appropriate bit of fat and crust. Sauces are stellar. I miss Austin a bit less now. And there was a delicious cider on tap.

Some of the best BBQ in Portland. They offer a mix of BBQ styles and sauces. We LOVE the burnt ends but you have to get there early as they always sell out. The pork cheeks are insanely good and very tender. Their sides are delicious. And they have typical Portland funky decor. This is our "go to" place for BBQ in Portland.

A quiet little smokehouse that has never been overwhelmingly busy in any of my three visits. They have a great southern-style menu with terrific smoked meats, mac n cheese, and a whole bunch of other delicious options. Also, the drink menu is no slouch. Service is friendly and accommodating. A great, quality experience!

Im glad theyre proud of the salt they use, because thats about all they should be proud of. Not sure if we came in on an off night. But the beef brisket sandwich was tough, too many greens for a sandwich too, Cole slaw was mediocre, and ribs were good but not great. The Mac and cheese was good though.

Fantastic barbecue and a full bar. We had delicious pulled pork, scrumptious ribs, and tasty brisket. The poutine was amazing too. The fries were crispy and tasty, the coleslaw was very good as well. Everything was well prepared and the server was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Wonderful meals.

The food here is amazing, and the prices are very reasonable. They have the best braised greens Ive ever tasted. I had the pork cheeks, braised greens, and potato salad; my fiancé had the pulled pork and smoked steelhead. All of it was delicious. Cant wait to go back and try more.

Being from the South, this restaurant really hit home for me having the same variety of smoked meats and sauces that I was used to having in barbecue restaurants. They could have more beers on tap but thats not really their specialty. Go early in the evening when its not too busy.

Everything tasted like salt and vinegar. Very overwhelming taste of salt and vinegar in the sides, coleslaw, Beans, potatoe salad.. The ribs were almost to salty to enjoy, only thing that was good was the pork rinds, and Mac n cheese. Definitely will not be returning

Food is really great! The pulled pork poutine is beyond delicious and gigantic. I was able to stuff a few bites of the molasses corn bread into my face before we gave up but it was worth it! The staff are great too and we are treated like old friends every time we go.

Best barbecue Ive ever had, hands down. Killer brisket, luscious bacon-studded cornbread, perfectly smoked steelhead... I dream about their brunches (and amazing cocktails) all week long. Gorgeous atmosphere and perfect service seal the deal every time.

I had the ribs and fries. The ribs arent the tender, fall-off-the-bone style. Thats not good or bad--just the type. They are delicious. The fries have a crispety crunchy coating that I love. The place has a great interior, and the service is friendly.

Im boggled by how this place has a high rating, went for lunch at noon and it was empty on a Wednesday. The brisket must have been a day or two old and awfully dry. I couldnt even finish my meal, but the mac n cheese was good at least!
