I have been a loyal La Madeleine fan for years, and this location lives up to what I have come to expect from La Madeleine. The staff is efficient & quick while still being very friendly & helpful. Personally, I am a fan of their french onion soup, caesar salads (dressing can be purchased in bulk) & many breakfast offerings. Really, no matter what you order, I dont think you will be disappointed-I have never had a bad meal at any of their many locations. The highlight of any trip to La Madeleine, however, is their large assortment of freshly made breads & desserts. Their baked goods are available for purchase at the To-Go area, where they display their many delicous dessert offerings. It would be a wasted trip to at least not take a look, if not to enjoy, their bounty of delicous confections. I always seem to find some excuse to grab something (ok, usually somethings...) from their display to enjoy at home-or to enjoy on the way home.

Oh...I dont know. Perhaps only giving it 3 stars is a bit harsh, but there are some details being missed here which I think are worth reviewing. First, the food. Fundamentally, it is good. Tasty and relatively well put together. That said, I get the sense that they use their microwave extensively for re-heating...and their quiche usually tastes like it has been sitting under heat lamps for an extensive amount of time. This isnt make or break, but its a detail that might be something to look at if I were management. It shouldnt take that much to keep food fresh and hot without the use of microwaves or long heat lamp durations. The salads are great. Deserts are good. Overall, is eat there again for sure...but Ill lean towards items that arent obviously pre-made. Tip: after the drink station, dont forget to pick up some bread and jam that they put out.

Yes, I know its a chain restaurant. But I really feel welcomed and at home when I come here. Maybe its the food...I LOVE their mushroom soup! Maybe its the cozy fireplace. Or maybe its the quirkiness of the broadcast French lessons in the bathrooms (makes me feel like Im in Disney World!) But whatever it is, this is my first choice for a relaxing breakfast and some time on my computer or with a great book. Service is a mix of cafeteria-style and table service. They also have a large bakery area with tempting pastries, breads and croissants -- and a separate regeister for that so you can run in a grab a sweet on the way to work without having to go through the regualr line. I am not much of a fan of desserts, but my daughter says they are incredible here!

The food is decent its one of my favorite chains. Mushroom sauce is fantastic everyone should try it. The people they hire at the balconies location confound me. My past six to go orders have all missed part of my order. Today I ordered simple just a chicken Cesar salad got home, no dressing. I wait in line sometimes and literally see no staff for several minutes while people in line start to give up and leave. One staff member actually yelled at a customer, another walked away mid order. I wish corporate or management could find a way to make this location functional like others. Sorry for the negative review... Its just that I like la Madeline and I would love to go to the one next to my house and have one reliable interaction.

We had a pregnant woman in our party who asked if the caesar salad had raw fish or egg yolks in it (knowing some restaurants use a safe bottled version) and the two people behind the bar looked at her like she had lobsters crawling out of her ears, glanced at the leafy green, and told her "No". Then when she ordered that, they pulled a different bowl out from under the buffet that had dressing and loaded her up with it. If you are wearing a chefs hat, maybe you should know something that a layman knows. (Additionally, there are a lot of older well-to-do folk who go here and give nasty looks at anyone who is younger than 65 or looks halfway attractive and young.)

I went with my family to go try it, the restaurant was recommended to us by some friends who eat there often. We decided to try it. Its very nice inside, but since it was our first time there we werent sure what to do. We got in line and grabbed some menus. We asked a lady who was walking around to explain to us how things worked, and ended up ignoring us half way through our question. We ended up ordering what looked pleasing to the eye. I personally loved what I ordered, which was the cup of potato soup. Some of us disliked what they ordered, and were in a bad mood due to the negative attitude projected from the staff.

The food was OK. I ordered the first thing on the menu because there was no time to browse the menu in the busy queue. The atmosphere and customer handling was akin to the busiest military chow hall I ever visited. Located in one of Austins most affluent and hectic areas, this establishment is aging. Probably very popular for Sunday brunch/lunch, the queue was not too long and orders processed quickly. If you want quiet dining, this aint it. I could see going at low traffic times as the selection is excellent.

I like the desserts more than the food. Theres quite a selection and its hard to go wrong. They seem to favor the fruity desserts, but I like the chocolate tort cake the best. Its nice to be able to order desserts from a separate line. We come here in a large group and take up a number of tables for several hours to play board games. The staff has never had a problem with us doing this. With food, desserts, wine, coffee, there are plenty of options for a full meal or a snack or a drink.

I swear this place is hit or miss. Sometimes its wonderful, and sometimes its awful. I usually try to call ahead and order my food 20 minutes in advance for take-out, because it takes a long time for some reason. 50% of the menu is pretty tasty. The beef bourguignon is amazing. But the caesar salad is disgusting. The order taker lady is really cool though. Its just that one dude who slices the bread on the line who keeps giving me the stink-eye that I worry about.

Really awful food. Miles away from the real french food. The chicken was not properly cooked and the portions were terrible. Plus the potato galette was just not made as it should be. It seems like a rash dash job.The only saving grace (and the reason I have rated the food as good and not poor) is the bakery. What they lack in entrees, they make up for it in the bakery. There are some desserts which should not be missed.

Ordered the salad sampler with a Cesar salad. Guy behind counter took two croutons that were left in the old salad bowl and put on mine because they were in the back and to get fresh would mean he would actually have walk back there! It didnt even phase him he did anything wrong! After I made a fit he asked if I wanted fresh croutons. Seriously??? Salad was odd tasting also like it had been sitting. Bad service!
