We walked into Germantown Cafe on a Sunday morning for brunch and found the restaurant to be semi empty. There were 3 of us there and we had a party of 5 but were told by the hostess " you can not be seated unless your party is almost here or is all here" at which point we told her they were just a few minutes behind us and she told us we could sit and wait upfront until our whole party was here. At which point we were never offered drinks or an explanation as to why you have to wait for a table at an almost empty restaurant. We decided to leave for Madonnas where we gladly waited for 15 minutes for a table with a happy hostess, happy bartender and excellent food and environment. We will be sure to cross Germantown Cafe off our list along with letting our friends know as well. We understand if the restaurant is full to keep to this policy, but on an empty Sunday, why not go ahead and sit and offer beverages?

Went there for lunch, not good for vegetarians. The vegetarian bowl was flavorful, but lacking in filler ingredients, mostly dressing. My friend did not like her kale salad at all - it was just kale leaves with strawberries, lacking dressing and other ingredients. We walked in, and it was not sure if we need to wait to be seated or not, then found someone who worked there but was ignoring us and asked about it, and he said YES, very rudely. Then another very posh man came over and asked if we have a lunch reservation?? That is just ridiculous. He did not ask that the other group that was twice our size and came in after us. So snotty waiters. Not sure why this place has such a good rating. Maybe dinner service and food is better?

I just moved from San Francisco, excited to try one of Nashvilles top rated restaurants. I was so disappointed. Although the service was reasonable, the food was terrible. My crab cakes were no more flavorful than Costco’s Kirkland variety (too mushy and not enough crab). My salmon with coconut curry and creamed risotto was a disaster of flavors. The desert was the worst of all. The apple crisp, whose presentation resembled a famous mangled "American Pie" from the movie, was undercooked and swimming in a pool of oil/ butter and or lard. The best thing about the meal was the wine, which happened to be from Santa Barbra. I admit I am a California food snob.

The brunch at this place and the quality of the food is pretty fantastic, but the quality of the service has dropped down in the last months considerably. Me and 2 other friends of mine have been quite disappointed at a few things in our 2 last visits. One of the managers really seem to have little clue about how to properly make you feel comfortable, and did some inappropriate comments about the food and how it was prepared. He wasnt explicitly rude, and in fact he was trying to be nice, but it really didnt come out like that. Some serious lack of professionalism we werent expecting at this place.

My buddy and I walked in without reservations. We grabbed a seat at the bar, age started exploring the happy hour menu and drink specials (everything is $5). Steamed mussels, fried Mac and cheese poppers, veal meatballs. And tasty cocktails poured with a knowledgeable hand by master bartender, Chris. Even the the place was crazy busy with eclipse fever, we were made to feel welcome with a friendly ease. Id absolutely become a regular if I lived in Germantown. Guess Im coming back to visit you, Nashville!

Small dinner menu, but everything is great and reasonably priced from the french onion soup to the steaks. Serving sizes are pretty big too so you always leave feeling full. Definitely a great place for a relatively cheap but impressive date with your parents, loved ones, or with people from out of town. It may not be as hip as other restaurants in the area, but its definitely the best bang for the buck semi-fancy restaurant in town.

Happy hour kinda sucked. But they did have Cheap beer :)... and the inside decor was very cheap and looked like it came out of marshal or tj max. And the mirror above the bar looks horrible. I did not feel very welcomed when I enter the cafe I might of went in the wrong day but I just felt very uncomfortable with the customer service. I hear so many raves about this place but I did not find it any of them accurate.

One of our local favorites. Great food, not crazy busy before 10am for brunch/breakfast. Accepts kids. Great drinks. Coffee not good (tastes like office coffee). No lattes. In a quaint area of town. Very peaceful. Big windows. Romantic at night. Beautiful lighting. Great serving staff. Been coming here for years. Eggs Benedict is our go-to brunch food. But everything else typically good when we branch out.

We have enjoyed Germantown for many years- however something has changed-Manager? Ownership? This morning our hash browns were so burned we could not eat them- their coffee used to be great- now it is worst than Burger Kings- and at $2.95 a cup. Server never came by too see how we were doing. Our bill was over $60 for three- next time someone says Germantown Cafe Im voting for Loveless Cafe.

I absolutely loved their brunch! I really like crab cakes so I was very excited to see Crab Cakes Benedict on their menu. I really like food with a little spice so I really enjoyed the cayenne hollandaise and the pepperjack grits. To make it even better, they serve Mimosas and Bloody Marys! Overall, I thought that the brunch at this restaurant was fantastic! I definitely recommend it.

We dined last night at Germantown, it was our first time there. The ambiance was simple and relaxing with a great view of the Nashville skyline. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was thoughtful and some of the best Ive had since I moved to Nashville 3 years ago. My girlfriends curry salmon was fantastic and the walnut apple pie was a great way to finish the meal.

Had dinner there last Friday night. The crab cakes appetizer was delicious but was very disappointed in the main dishes. We ordered the salmon curry and the lamb. The salmon was just okay and the the lamb was awful. The service was slow and had to kept flagging down our server. This was the first time for my girlfriend to try this place and probably wont go back. Disappointed!

I think I found this place on either Google Trips or Google Locals, cant remember which one. My wife and I went there for lunch, I had one of the pasta specials and my wife and fried green tomato sandwich. My meal was good and my wife loved hers. The interior almost has a little bit of a NYC vibe, very cool place. Definitely would have liked to have gone back and had dinner.

I stopped by here for brunch last Sunday. Get there when they open and youll be seated and served immediately. The coffee is ok. I ordered their eggs Benedict over crab cakes and grits. The eggs and crab cakes were amazing, but I took one bite of the grits and didnt touch them again. The ambiance was very good and the staff were all very friendly and attentive.
