I have tried the other Indian restaurants in the Brentwood and Franklin areas and they are all fine (especially the new one just south of Cool Springs Mall on (just off) Mallory Lane). However, last weekend my wife and I had visitors and decided to take them out for Indian on Saturday night - after reading the very favorable reviews of House of India we took a chance and went with the one (of four) nearby Indian restaurants which we had not tried. Good Move! Ive lived in England and traveled all over the UK (where there are a lot of authentic Indian restaurants) and House of India is as good as any of the great Indian establishments there. Another good sign: for the two hours we were there well over half the diners were Indian - maybe I can still be fooled but surely the natives know good Indian food when they taste it. If you have the "need" for a great Indian meal, you will not regret dining here! [If you like wine with your meal, we tried the Malbec ($30, sorry I dont remember the winery) and it was spectacular. A bit "big" on its own but plenty of body and flavor to stand up to the spicy (not hot) meals we had - Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Saag, and House Special Biryani. I highly recommend the wine and the establishment. ]

The owner is kind and friendly. Service was good as expected from a service industry. Menu options is pretty wide options of North Indian food. Authenticity is quite lacking. My husband and I are pretty avid fan of Indian foods that every time we travel to new cities, states, or countries we always have to eat Indian foods. So, with that We think that this place lack of authenticity when it comes to food. The lamb on my lamb biryani is too dry and sadly they used the less fatty lamb meat which appeared dry as you seen on the second picture. My dhal tadka (yellow lentil soup) lacks a kick like it needs more masala. My husband thinks that his paneer from paneer saag might be canned paneer. His Nafratan Kurma was decent tho. I think this place might be cater to more Americanized Indian food. Not that its a bad thing. But for us, it wasnt quite satisfying. I did realized most of the Indians that commented on this restaurant said that it lacks authenticity however I thought they might be from a competing restaurant. At least now we know. Hopefully this constructive criticism can help them out because they are actually nice. Nice and clean place. Good service. Kind owner.

Most disgusting experience ever. We went for lunch buffet on a weekday at 2 and the website says the buffet is open till 02:30. The food was cold and felt like left overs. When we asked for a refill so that we can eat some fresh food the owner came to us as said we are closing in 30 mins and refilling will be a waste of food...Really!!! so he was ready to serve left overs but not ready to refill. We know how Indian food looks and tastes, so no fooling us on that. One other thing that I particularly didnt like was they talking about the food in a local language. I being able to understand what they really said was really offending to me and I opted not to eat. I would really NOT appreciate this in a majority of English speaking neighborhood. I would never go back nor recommend this place to anyone!!

Have been coming here for over a year and i think now is the time to finally add my 2 cents for this place. If you have been here you already know there are 3 other places in the same block offering a Indian Buffet for $10 and they are all well kept and maintained. The only reason i come here every time is just one, i,e the FOOD just tastes homely. First these folks hail from Punjab India which is the mother of home cooked food, 2nd their food just tastes the same every time no ups or down. The buffet is your normal buffet but everything is freshly prepared and served not just dumped on and left for 4 hours. They go for their usuall Daal Fry, Saag (spinich) which is made exactly how my mom makes it so makes it even more delicious. Do try these guys and you will get a yelp discount as well.

I didnt intend for today to become the early anniversary celebration that it became, but since I had a card ready and at my disposal, it evolved into just that...an early celebration of our wedding vows. We had a phenomenal Indian dinner, complete with rosewater ice cream for desert. The vindaloo and raita were so delicious that I broke Lent and dipped hot, fluffy naan into both to continue enjoying the flavors. The service was second to none. Everyone was eager to ensure that our dining experience was of the highest caliber. This was hands down THE BEST Indian restaurant I have EVER been to. I have never seen an Indian restaurant with so many options to choose from! I could eat every meal here for weeks and still not have the same meal twice. Hmmmmm. This gives me an idea....

This is my favorite Indian restaurant for so many reasons. Im always happy with everything I order, it all always tastes fantastic. Theyll make sure to adjust the spiciness of any dish you order if you ask (on a scale of 1-10) and the owner and staff are just so genuinely kind. Service is always above and beyond, its an incredibly clean restaurant, and the atmosphere and decor are very nice. Lots of comfy booths to be seated at. Its also not terribly pricey especially considering the amount of food you get, and on many occasions a smaller portion of a dessert has been given to me at the end of the meal to try. Again, the owner and staff are just really so friendly and I always recommend this place to anyone who likes Indian food

my husband and i love indian food, so we have been to quite a few restaurants. weve been to different ones all over america while travelling - and we finally feel like we found our favourite place ! the restaurant is fancy and bright and clean, the staff were friendly and so attentive that oit glasses were never once empty, and the food was just. wow. so good i didnt care i wasnt that hungry ! we ordered the dinner combo for two but it was more like dinner for two for two. we ate until we couldnt take in another sip of water, and still had a whole meal for twos worth of food left to take home. the server packed it up for us neatly in a bag. and we are excited to eat some more of that chicken makhani tomorrow. for breakfast.

It was our first time, and we showed up at 4:30pm, not knowing dinner started at 5pm. The manager was extremely hospitable, and gladly sat us to avoid waiting in the cold. The venue itself is very intimate, cozy, and the staff is wonderfully kind. We ordered the paneer pakora, Malai Kabab, Kaju curry, and garlic naan. Without hyperbole, it was the best Indian food weve ever had!!! Im certain the garlic naan is from some fantastic, otherworldly place. Its just that good. For dessert, thd manager gave us a complimentary kheer and fruit custard. It was the perfect close to an already incredible meal! If you are looking for Indian food in the greater Nashville area, this is THE place. We cant wait to come back!!!
