On 11/14/15 I made a 5:45 reservation thru Open Table at 5:15. I didnt realize its restaurant week, they were already quite busy. We were greeted and seated immediately. Michael our server was friendly, courteous, and attentive....Fresh rolls, butter and water came straight away. We placed our drink order, that too, came in a timely fashion. Our food was cooked to perfection and was amazing! I had the 7oz filet with mashed and asparagus. My husband had the 14oz strip with mashed, he asked for and received (at no charge) extra mashed instead of veg. We received our choice of sauce for the steaks, Peppercorn Cognac. The steaks were perfect the way they came, but we used the sauce, which was tasty, so as not to be wasteful. We ordered from the regular menu, not the restaurant week menu. The bread pudding was excellent, although I wouldve expected a slightly larger piece for what we were charged. Service was great. Even though there was a pretty long line of people waiting to be seated, we werent rushed through our meal, like at so many other restaurants. (We were seated for an hour and a half.) I will recommend Char to friends, and we will definitely return. Thank you Char and Michael, my husband and I had a really nice date night! :)

I went there for our anniversary Thursday I get a table immediately the place is nice privacy is very detectable the waitress was good we order ny steak portions are very good ,sides are fresh and delicious the wine sauce and the grongoza sauce are perfect the steak is mouth watering paid 75 for two main dish and soup good price some suggestions add table cloth add some music Soft to Match the private dim atmosphere the waitress need more elegant outfit and the serving need to be faster 45 min to get the main dish ,pass boys need to smile and engaged more the entrance need to be from another door than the bar I rate it very good recommend the place I wished to see a welcoming owner next time

5 STARS FOR AMBIENCE, SERVICE, & FOOD Such a cozy, welcoming restaurant with a beautiful fireplace right off the taconic pkwy! Live harpist Friday nights whos amazing! The service is outstanding and the staff is very friendly! Ive become quite a regular. Always looking forward to try yet another excellent dish prepared by the talented Chef at Char. I love this place! Customer for Life!

Every time we go there the filet mignon is always perfectly cooked and taste the same every time perfect!! There specials are always excellent!! There lobster man and cheese with truffle oil is it off this world! There seafood is always top notch. Service is very friendly and always smiling. My wife and I love eating here!!

Great dinner, the serving staff was great. Will visit again to try another dish. I was kind of sad they dont provide a salad before the entree. Only real down side was they stuck us in a bit of an uncomfortable spot to sit against the wall between two large parties.

Went the other night, Had a fantastic time. Beautiful restaurant. The service was the best. I had the tuna scoop appetizer, it was so delicious. The filet mignon was perfect. The Mojitos need a little work. Overall I highly recommend this Restaurant!
