I lived in Japan, where I could get quality sushi for fast food prices. It was great to come here and not be overcharged for the lunch menu or miss out on variety. Food is well prepared staff are not rushed, sushi chefs are welcoming and happy to talk, can get a $40 haircut next door for $13 (if youre a bloke), next to fed ex, close to SAM ASH music, great stop off for musicians. Specialty sushi rolls are great. Nigiri Sushi and Sashimi is very fresh for the average Tennessean who is worried bout getting worms from raw fish, how I dont know, maybe you shouldnt have taken it home in a box kept if for a week then fried it..... Very clean place, great standard, great atmosphere, honest sincere service, less stiff than Goten, Less steaky and heavy than Kobe Steaks, Less Expensive than Samurai, Less rude than that sushi place downtown - Ichiban (namba wan), less rushed than that place on Demonbruen - Sushiyoobi, with its angry little chef, not night clubby pick uppy tired old night shift fish boom boom like Virago, better tham omikoshi whose fusion with chinese sacrifices authenticity, less waiting and eating in a fridge like rusans..also no Buffet...incidently in Japan they call Buffet....Viking ....referring to those images of wild vikings tearing apart giant drum sticks at a lengthy table, ok better than kens hibachi ....which is a little too much sticky noodles, and the other kens on division which is fresh but the environ wont warm the soul..plus it was never open when I most wanted it to be........Sapporo is Korean owned I think, but the Koreans most often do Japanese food well, Japan once occupied Korea for 2 decades?? not sure?? and many Koreans had to learn Japanese, so deserve rights do any authenticity related to Japan, and in this case Sapporo has enough knowledge of Japanese food to make a more than satisfactory experience to reminisce about Japan in. Japanese beer is reasonably priced also...Kirin Sapporo Asahi..the big three. Go there. Go. Go there. Go.

A girlfriend and I had dinner here about a month ago. The atmosphere was/is nice, our service was good and everyone was friendly. The food was very lackluster. I ordered a glass of white wine, which was bad/old. I sent it back (which Ive NEVER done before) and our waiter was totally fine with it. We ordered seaweed salad, which we both enjoyed. However, the sushi rolls are where they lost my future business. Each of the rolls that I ordered where PACKED FULL with panko (Im assuming as a filler to avoid having to fill it with the other costly ingredients). There was the tiniest bit of any other ingredient i.e. veggie, fish, etc. There was actually so much of the panko on top of my rolls and IN my rolls that it scratched the roof of my mouth raw. Aside from the panko even, the rolls were bland with very little flavor to them. It was a huge disappointment to pay $50 for a meal that was an enormous letdown. I wont be returning.

I still cant believe how cheap the sushi is for it to come out so well. Ive been going to this restaurant for about two years now and just could not be more satisfied with the extremely friendly (but never over-solicitous or overbearing) service and the quality of the food. Even though it was closer to my house, I initially distrusted the location because of a bad experience at Arigato Sayonara sushi just down Gallatin Rd from it. I figured, "Its just too much to ask to have decent, affordable sushi in Rivergate, I might as well just go downtown if I want it to be edible." I was wrong. The only times I avoid going here are when Im actually embarrassed as to the frequency of my visits. Wonderful staff; unbelievably inexpensive and delicious sushi. DO NOT MISS.

My husband and I have been going to Sapporos for at least the past 10 years. We always try other sushi restaurants, but nothing comes even close to Sapporos. The owners are wonderful, family oriented. The staff is courteous and efficient. Its like going to a friends house for dinner! The quality is excellent. My eyes are usually bigger than my stomach. I always end up with a doggie bag. I highly recommend going to Sapporos before you go to any high end sushi or hibachi restaurant. You stomach and wallet will love you much better for it!

Food & atmosphere is great. I love the music playing, reminds me of my childhood. Everyone here are very friendly. The restaurant decorations are perfect, very suiting and matches the menu perfectly. It makes me feel like Im dining out at home. We ordered the spicy miso ramen, chicken teriyaki with fried rice, and yuki sushi roll. So delicious and flavorful; also very filling. First time here and I will definitely be back. Its hard to find good authentic Asian restaurants around here.

Sapporos amazes me! Every time I find out a friend does not like sushi or I meet a sushi enthusiast, I take them to Sapporo! Fresh, flavorful foods. Perky, helpful staff. Chefs with skills! The sushi naysayers end up converted and addicted! The enthusiasts thank me for introducing them to a fabulous restaurant in Tennessee! Thank you Danny and all the folks who make Sapporos the best sushi place ever! Mannnnnn, now my mouth is watering! Guess its time for another trip to Sapporo!

By far the most authentic Japanese food my husband and I have tried. Theyre sushi is always guaranteed fresh and delicious. But theyre Ramen Noodles are to die for, you will have a spoon full of it and it will make you fall out your chair and smack your partner its so good. Every time we go we try a different plate and we have yet to be disappointed. Staff is always kind and helpful and move very quickly. They are also very tentative to any questions you have about the dishes.

Sapporo is the absolute best sushi place ever. My roommate and I go at least once a week and have their $9.99 sushi special (four plates to choose from: raw, spicey, cooked and veggie) which includes salad, soup and a cucumber/lobster salad. If you can get there for lunch, you cant pass up the $6.99 lunch special! The staff is amazing and so friendly. Get to know them; we usually already have our drinks, soup and salads by the time we sit down to the table!

Hands down my familys favorite sushi!!! My husband and I have been eating here for 15 years. My daughters have grown up eating here. My youngest gets the fusion crunchy crab spring roll every time! As for me I switch it up with different fresh rolls (D.G.R is my fav) or the amazing Chambong - spicy seafood noodle soup!!!! And the broiled squid! Seaweed salad is so fresh here. My oldest cant end the meal without a scoop of green tea ice cream:)

Sapporo has by far the best sushi around Nashville. We have been eating there for 6 plus years and I am amazed at how fresh theirs taste. The staff is wonderful and caring. I have eaten at most of the other sushi places and usually walk away asking myself why. Sapporo is just good, and extremely reasonable. Their Korean didhes are also delicious. Yes, the area isnt the greatest but it is getting better every day. Try it, you will go back.

Sapporos sushi is fresh, well made and tastes great. Chefs choice sushi is named "Im hungry", "I dont know" and "Trust Me". The Sushi Chefs were great - good humored and fast, we had a good time joking around with them. Given all the food options in Rivergate, this is your best bet. On the negative side, I will say the Ramen was very disappointing. Ive been spoiled by Two Ten Jack in East Nashville.
