First things first. The service was good. The food was good. Not 5-star amazing, but it was good. Food prices seemed all over the board (a very small hash was more expensive than the very filling 2-egg breakfast.) Now, on to why they get a one-star. The community table is a horrid idea. Get rid of it and add smaller tables. Theres a sign by the sign-in sheet saying the community table is first-come-first serve. I didnt mind the idea, but figured the host would let us know somewhat in order when spaces were open. Not true at all. To skip the line, people stand in the front like vultures staring down the community table in a chance to sit down before the previous guests even had the chance to put down their napkins. No one eating at the table looked happy. They are squished shoulder to shoulder in an attempt to push guests through as quickly as possible. The whole system feels rushed, impersonal and just disrespectful to people who are choosing to spend their money eating out. On a Sunday at 11am, we waited 50 minutes for a table for 2. I would have sat at the community table and left the other tables for families, but their system for seating was so messed up that after watching three couples that walked in after us snatch seats ahead of us instead of attempting to go in order, we gave up and just waited for a real table. The whole experience was frustrating and made me unhappy to even be inside. I will not be going back and I recommend to others to stay away because the atmosphere was horrible.

In one word: Perfect. When you walk in, the decor gives welcoming sense of southern restoration while the music and gentle "hum" of patron conversation makes the Yolk feel more like youre having breakfast at a friends house. The service was perfect. Andrea, who took care of me, was attentive and gave good recommendations, but I never felt rushed or "bothered." Great job! The coffee is worth talking about first. The "mild" blend was smooth, non-acidic, with a rich flavor. Sophisticated and decisively not your typical "cup-o-joe". I started with the "Fugita Boutit" (only $5.09) a simple take on classic bagel and lox we all know. The brilliance in this dish at the Yolk is that they stayed true to the heritage of the dish. The perfect amount of "schmear", smokey salmon and the fresh tomato and onions...the everything bagel itself had the soft texture of being freshly baked. I also had a bit of a surprise...by ordering what I would call) not your Daddys Shrimp and Grits ($10.59) at The Yolk...warm cinnamon, savory pesto and rich Gouda.

I had high hopes for this place. I was here visiting from Michigan....I absolutely love the Yolks in the Chicago area and assumed this place would be just as good. Wrong. The wait was about 30-40 mins but thats to be expected on a Saturday morning. I ordered a Sink omelette....first their omelettes (most) dont come with cheese...thats extra. I then tried to substitute a veggie for another veggie and that couldnt be done. Despite the fact that my omelette was jam-packed with ingredients, it was very bland. I had to add salt and pepper for it to be palatable. The potatoes were very well seasoned but were EXTREMELY greasy. Probably wont be returning.

Five words for you: Pecan waffles and Tennessee potatoes. Love this place! Often crowded however. Tucked away in a random strip mall. Dont let the setting fool you. Service is friendly - great with refilling coffee. If youre thinking of going for the first time I would highly recommend going on a weekday, or EARLY on the weekend- otherwise theres often a significant wait. (How can all those folks waiting be wrong?) Update: are here again recently- wasnt crazy about the beach bowl (this one was quinoa, beets...and supposedly spinach but didnt find any spinach in the bowl). Still a five star place however- servers really awesome!

I invited a friend along to the yolk. I bragged on how good the food was and worth the long wait. We signed in upon arrival and spoke to the hostess. Not once but twice the hostess sat 2 parties of people that arrived after us. Even others that were there questioned the purpose of having a waiting list if you dont offer others that have arrived previously. She stated that that was first come first serve. Unfortunately the bs of a excuse is not good enough. I will not not plan to revisit. Terrible customer service

We usually visit this place twice a month however want be back for a while. Ordered the meat Quiche out came meatless. I was told that the chef thought it was ok?? To do so... due to they ran out of the meat Quiche. It took a total 45 minutes for my husband an I food to come. I left the same way I came hungry. The manager on duty very young and not experienced with escalated issues as she kept trying to walk off and not listen to the full issue. Overall this place is a great to eat but the wait is always long..

You could believe the one negative review this place has and quite possibly miss out on the best breakfast you will ever have the privilege of enjoying. Honestly I have eaten here numerous times and this strip mall hole in the wall is by far the best breakfast anywhere. Parking is limited because of the strip mall but great things are worth minor inconveniences. I couldnt cook it any better and I say with confidence you will enjoy it also! Pecan waffle is it out of this world!

I dont know if this place actually has any real chiefs. Went there to have Sunday breakfast was the worst breakfast we ever had in our lives. They couldnt fix poached eggs and made my husband wait and wait till finally they brought him another set of uncooked eggs. Would have been better at Mickey Ds. Since then I contacted the owner he was going give our family a make up meal. I emailed him when I would arrive and never heard back. He couldnt even make good on his promise.

The service was terrible however loved the food. The bad part was we got charged twice and when I called to have the situation fixed was told I had to bring in proof and when I told the lady I didnt live in town she told me I would have to email the owners. She was very rude and unprofessional when I was trying to get the situation fixed. I dont recommend this place. There are places to eat with food just as good and better customer service.

I am from Columbus Ohio i dined here 3/17/15 after scouting local places where I could get breakfast Im in town for my cousins wedding and never been here to Rock Hill South Carolina. The food was great. It was just what I was looking for, while I was dining a local resident told me the story of how the restaurant started. If I return to Rockhill SC or even Charlotte, NC I will definitely come to dine here again.

This is arguably the best breakfast place in Rock Hill, and should be a go-to for anyone who loves breakfast food. Its practically the JJs Diner of this town. The new location is better in every way, and the menu seems to have something great I hadnt noticed before every time I go. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is exactly what you want from a breakfast/brunch restaurant. Long live the Yolk.
