DO NOT GO HERE!! Shouldnt even be given one star. This restaurant is overall terrible. I was visiting Myrtle Beach on vacation and had chosen this restaurant for its listing as a gluten-free restaurant. I suffer from Celiac Disease where I am unable to consume any type of food containing gluten. I get extremely ill from consuming the smallest amount. For this reason, I chose restaurants in the area that are sensitive to this disease. I went to several websites that classified Lil Tokyo as a gluten-free dining establishment as well as they listed themselves on Google as such. To ensure I would be receiving a gluten-free meal before ever going, my father and I made a phone call to the establishment regarding their gluten-free options. They told us both that they used gluten-free soy sauce, they had the ability to cook my food separately and they would be very happy to accommodate any of my needs that I had. So, we went on the understanding that it was a safe place for me to eat. Once we arrived, we received minimal service in which the quality was poor. This is where, for those of you without a special diet, should stay away as well - the service is awful. The waitress was extremely unknowledgeable about the menu and the options available. She was unaware about any gluten-free options or that it was even a possibility. When I asked her to find out, she had already brought the first round of food before informing me she forgot to ask but she would go find out "real quick" It took her another 15 minutes to come. The place was practically empty, waitresses were standing around just watching. Once the chef came out to cook the food, I informed him of my needs and he replied with a flat "no, he would not cook that way for me." He was rude, unhelpful, unprofessional, unsympathetic and un-interactive as a Hibachi chef should be. After some arguing with the chef, my meal was prepared without soy sauce; however, in the same area as all the other food. The staff was unaware of anything having to do with gluten-free and frankly unwilling to accommodate my needs. As a result, I was sick immediately after eating, we left the restaurant and went straight to Walmart to purchase medicine to alleviate my sickness. I woke up this morning with mouth blisters and stomach issues as a result of their carelessness and desire to get us in the door with false advertisement.

It was pretty good, but could have been better. When we first got seated the bus pan pushcart was directly behind us in a narrow walkway. Instead of moving it from behind us and giving us more room, more people just kept using it. The hostess wouldnt let us move to the middle of the table because it wasnt full even though there were four of us. We moved anyway and it was fine. I used to work at a Japanese steakhouse and it was actually standard protocol to fill in side by side, not on the opposite sides of the table. We almost left because of this because we were paying too much to be in a cramped working area, especially for a four person party. The waitress was super nice, but disappeared during the entire cooking process which was almost an hour. I had to flag down a manager to get a drink refill. The whole process took almost 2 1/2 hours. I understand if you sit at the cooking table it takes a while, but it seemed to drag a bit. It wasnt super busy either. The food was great and the chef was awesome, only thing I thought was odd was the lack of veggies in the rice and you dont get a great amount of veggies. You end up getting a huge plate of carbs with little veggie or protein. If you go with someone I recommend getting a combination and sharing. Youll still have leftovers! Also the soup was virtually flavorless and although the ginger dressing was good, it was runny. The best part of the meal was the green apple sake.

I have to say if you are going for sushi its really good, but i would not waste my time or money to go back and eat...I took my daughter there for her Birthday 10/27/15 and what a disappointment it was...first of all the server(A GUY) one of the worst servers i have ever experienced. It took him 15 minutes to get 3 cocktails from the bar and i had to ask for water like 3 times...it was very unorganized. We had 4 people join us at the other end of the table and they waited forever for him to even greet them, they ordered drinks and a bottle of wine...he later brought the wine to the table already opened and just sat it on the table( not the way wine is suppose to be presented) He was ask to remove bowls and empty glasses twice,by the way we had to go to the bar to get our second drinks after we waited 10 minutes with empty glasses on the table, he couldnt of cared less... The chef is thats what he wants to call himself overcooked everything we ordered, the noodles are a disgrace with no taste. The kicker is this server had only ONE table to screw up and he did.I still tipped 20 percent of my bill not because he deserved it but just for the fact he is splitting it with the chef.I will be going back to Miyabis with my business.Train your staff properly!!!!

If your looking for great fresh Sushi go no further than Lil Tokyo in the Coastal Grand Mall in Myrtle Beach. S.C. I am originally a New Yorker and grew up patronizing many sushi restaurant around the city and became a great judge of what makes a good sushi restaurant and a great one. When you come to Lil Tokyo you will be treated to the best premium fresh quality sushi. Fresh that is the optimum word of what makes a great sushi restaurant the freshness of the fish. I have found such a restaurant in Lil Tokyo. What a great place... the sake is always hot and the Japanese Kirin beer is always cold and ready on tap. My favorite sushi is yellow-tail, and mackerel. However, if you like something more exotic you can always have Master Sushi Chef Frankie create a dazzling special Sushi /Sashimi combination just for you. The workers there are professional and eager to please special thanks to my severs Missy, Mariana and Casey they work hard to keep the customers happy.

My first time ever here, with my father. Worst experience of my life. We came for sushi after I had drove four hours to get here. Mainly because it was told to us that it had epic sushi. We got to the sushi bar and wasnt talked to by the chef or server at all. So, we decided to go to the main dinning area. Now, we are naturally a talkative bunch of people and love to engage the people around us. My father is naturally a boistorus fellow and a friendly person, he ordered one glass of wine. ONE. Now, the people there had gone to the manager, next thing we know they came over to the table and inform us that they feel he is too inebriated to serve anything to drink. How they came to this conclusion after we had been neglected by the staff and just cutting up. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone who likes to have fun or is naturally loud. Worst place ever.

Became a regular after lil Tokyo took over. Weve been there many times when it was Nikis. Which was when Natasha was there. Never had a problem with racism. Food was ok better the most in the area. When LTokyo took over is when things got great. The sushi was a lot better then b4 , fresh and well presented. Kenny the main cook was awesome and funny. Dan our bartender has gotten used to our silly jokes, and still laughs. The food is great most of the time, and weve been many time at different times of the day. Any time we had a problem, it was promptly taking care of. Try it youll like it. 3 years later still good. Many changes in staff but still great service, food taste varies with day of the week. Not sure why. But the wife and I still love going there..
