Miyabi had a lovely atmosphere and wonderful service, but the food left something to be desired, especially compared to my experiences at other Japanese steakhouses. We went to Miyabi as a group of 7 on Wednesday night. Our reservation worked out fine, and they were ready to seat us when we arrived. Our waitress was friendly, informative, and provided consistent good service. Our chef was entertaining and catered to the needs of two vegetarian members of our party. The majority of my group had been to various Japanese steakhouses before and left Miyabi a bit disappointed with the food. The meat was delicious; the steak cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the shrimp and chicken with great tenderness and flavor. One member of my party got the fish and shrimp entree and said that the fish was excellent. The soup and salad that came as appetizers were also both very good. The vegetables, however, were disappointing. The mixed vegetables that came with each entree (besides the vegetarian one) included only onions and zucchini. We were quite disappointed that there was not more of a variety, as most of us were used to having some combination of mushrooms, carrots, and bean sprouts included. The rice was also slightly disappointing. In our other experiences, the Hibachi rice is cooked with egg (always) and vegetables (sometimes) added. It was still tasty at Miyabi, but just unimpressive compared to other experiences. Overall, it was a good experience, but we all agreed that we have had better food at Japanese steakhouses.

We came to the restaurant as a party of 10 with reservations on a Monday night. Our party was seated promptly and orders for drinks were taken. At the opposite table the another chef had started cooking and was doing a good job with the expected hibachi show. Shortly thereafter our orders were taken. The soup came and then the chef - salad hadnt arrived yet. About the time he had the grill loaded the salad came and he started serving immediately. The food was cooked and on our plates well before we finished our salads and the chef disappeared (meanwhile at the opposite table the other chef was still doing his thing.) About half-way into our meal the sherbet was delivered and began to melt. We were not even half-way through the meal when takeout boxes and the check arrived. You would think that when you have check in excess of $300 that you would be given time to eat - but not here. The way that we were treated was not acceptable. Even though the food was OK, I highly recommend that you not come to this restaurant.

The decor is wonderful down to the bathrooms. However the food was not up to par. I dined in the hibachi section which was very lively and ordered the teriyaki chicken and steak. The soup they served was extremely salty, I could not finish it. The salad was what I normally expect it to be, and the teriyaki chicken and steak was great. The veggies were disappointing only consisting of zucchini and onion. The rice was the most disappointing thing I experienced since that is what I most look forward to. They serve a giant portion of rice that is very bland and distasteful. There is no egg or chicken or veggies in it which I am used to. (I travel to many hibachi in Illinois) I did not eat the huge amount of rice I was given, but they did serve sherbet at then end which was nice. If you dont mind very plain rice, salty soup, and small variety or veggies I would recommend trying them out otherwise, I would not recommend miyabis.

Everything was great but the wait. We had a 5:30 reservation made days in advance for my husbands birthday and we werent seated until after 6. But they still offered the early bird special and the food was amazing. Sushi was great. Food was great...lots of it. Service and show was great. The people were all very nice and fun. My kids had a great time. We had them "sing" for his birthday and the drum and balloon and cupcake was perfect. He felt special, which was the goal. Most impressive....all our needs were anticipated. I never had to think to ask for anything because they asked first, which was a nice touch. I feel like the wait was somewhat unusual so I gave them 5 stars, but I would hope they would work on their reservation situation since that is the point of making a reservation. Would come back for sure!

This is by far my favorite chain of Japanese steakhouse restaurants. They have locations around the southeast, with two in the Myrtle Beach area. First, the food you get is high quality and the portions are huge! A take-home box is usually required. Everything is good here, from the sushi, to the hibachi meals. Their fried rice is incredible! The filet is cooked to perfection. The atmosphere and service is hard to beat. Its a great place to go to with a group of people, but probably not the most intimate surrounding if you want a quiet night out for two. If you want to try it out, get there before 6 pm. Theres almost always a crowd-in-waiting (parking lot overflowing!) if you get there any later, plus they have good early bird specials. Highly reccomended over any Japanese restaurant in the area.

Thx to Goolge maps for finding this place! The sushi was great and the prices were right in line with what I expected. The atmosphere was very nice. Keep in mind of the area this place is in, you will always have a wait. Now we walked right in and sat at the sushi bar. It didnt take long for the waitress to see to us. It was a very busy place! My daughter enjoyed the decor in the ladies room so much she had to snap a pic. Kids. LoL. So as for the hibachi side I can also asome its very good seeing how packed it was at the time we were there. I look forward to going back. As to we ate, the order was to bento boxes. One being a tuna(awsome) and the teryaki chicken. The sushi bar was very busy also.

This place was great. Im no connoisseur of Japanese cuisine, but this was your typical Japanese steakhouse where they cook the food on the table and bang the knives and stuff on the table and try to entertain you with bad jokes. The food was good. Portions were generous. We went at 6:00 p.m. on a weekday and had only a minimal wait. (Cant comment on the sushi bar.) Service was good. We shared an entree (chicken, shrimp and steak) and it was a good plenty for 2 people. (They charge $8.50 for sharing, but its actually reasonable as you still get the salad, soup and rice.)

My party of three went to Miyabis in Charleston, SC. It was perfect. We were served soup, salad, shrimp, and onions with zucchini before the rice and main dishes were even served. Everything was cooked to perfection and the chef we had was funny and highly skilled. All together for all three of us was $60 without adding a tip, but seeing how much food was given to us, it was a reasonable price. I would DEFINITELY recommend going if youre near one of their locations. I know I will be driving 50 miles out of the way to celebrate my birthday there when due time.

My Family and a guest had dinner at Miyabis on 7/9/10. The food was average for the price and we expected better. We also go for the entertainment of the Master Grill Chef. Unfortunately our Chef was a Latino (at a Japanese restaurant?) as were most of the Grill Cooks.Nothing against my latino brothers who have a wonderful work ethic but our cook knew little English and was next to mute along with his less than mediocre talent as a Japanese restaurant master knife weilding grill chef. The very thing tourists pay to see. I will find another Japanese Restaurant.
