Was an old regular at the Growler - and heard that York St Grille had opened…the word of mouth was already pretty bad - but stopped in to see for myself with a friend the Friday before Christmas. They did a great job with the renno… yea the place still needs some character - but I imagine that will come with time. Yes - it is very grey and industrial feeling. The renovations are a welcome change to the worn out interior of the old Growler - especially the restrooms We did eat some food - and spoke to some people sitting at the bar - and the consensus was the same….Meh - pretty-much across the board. Im going to reserve judgment for a while here and not be to critical at this time, however I will offer some advice. 1. You need to embrace the local community - this is a family town with 2 fantastic school districts, you are literally across the street from the Mechanicsburg Football Stadium - your walls are also mostly barren…show some support for the local kids, their schools and teams - put up some photos, or pennants - memorabilia. If you make families comfortable and welcome - they will come here after games and such, they play a lot of sports - show some support and pride for the locals. 2. You have a GIANT chicken on the roof - the only art on your walls is of chickens - yet there is hardly any chicken on your menu. We love chicken. Fix the chicken! - start making GOOD chicken, I mean real friggin fried chicken - I promise you people will come to eat it…offer it take out - by the bucket. If youre going to have a giant chicken on your roof - you better damn well serve good chicken. Your wings are seriously lack luster- I think if you fix the chicken…the wing problem might take care of itself. 3. Fix the beer - Im not sure who thought it was a good idea to put a child in charge of your beer selection - but you need to fix this. Other than the corporate brews and Guinness - every single beer on your menu was an IPA. That should never ever happen. You need diversity, I know the fad is with IPAs - but not one single person I know actually likes them. English ales, Belgium - Porters…Ambers - Hell this is winter…the season for IPAs is over. There are literally SO many wonderful winter beers - you had none…Please diversify the beer. So far - you have given me absolutely NO reason to come back. There is nothing about York St Grille that is any different than the G-Man…Snappers…Moes - Johnny Joes…Rockwells…Overpriced and mediocre - Honestly I don’t care for those places much - we will give you a chance - I hope you can make some positive changes, because I miss having someplace to go to get some good food and a beer around here

This place was actually really good! Owned by the same people who own the Firehouse in downtown Harrisburg as well as the newly opened Grill 22 on rt 22 (the old Teds location next to Ollies), this family of restaurants has experience in interesting takes on old favorites. Try the Prime Rib! The fresh cut fries are excellent and their house salad is truly a treat and its hard to say that about salad! A nice calm atmosphere with a lot of chickens. Chickens everywhere. Also, nice bathroom! Clean, stylish, well lit, functional and not smelly! Huge improvement on the old Growlers.

They cleaned this place up, but in doing so raised the prices ridiculously. Not nearly as crowded as it was when it was Grandpas Growler and maybe its the pricing. The food is good enough, not spectacular nor awful. Just not worth eating here, portions are smaller and just not filling. The wait staff is accommodating and social, but if youre not a regular patron, you can be ignored while they finish a Congo with a regular. I dont mean to bash the fledgling establishment, but the area doesnt need another drain hole like the one down around the corner.

Awesome restaurant !! Had lunch there today with my son !! Food was great !! Service awesome !! I love this place !! We will be back !! Used to be Grandpa Growlers !! Totally redone inside !! Smaller bar ,new tables ,fresh new colors and decorations !! They removed the coolers of beer for sale !! Made it bigger for seating !! Great place to take your family !! I had the best Cuban sandwich Ive ever had !! Prices were great too !! Definitely a cool place to take a date to also !!

My experience here was not very good service at the bar was like waiting for ice to melt, waitresses were talking to their friends and not attending to their customers. My wife and I were going to have dinner after having a beverage. After our experience with not getting waited on I flagged down the manager explained our situation. My wife and I left and will never return. Best advertisement is through word of mouth

Bring back Grandpas Growler already. Slow service, subpar food quality, ridiculously expensive drinks, and pretentious attitude of the staff...whats not to like? Location is good, thats about it on positive side. Note to owners, this is Mechanicsburg, not Manhattan...in spite of what most of the locals may think. Price accordingly.

Definitely different than the Growler. It has an open, spacious feel, and if you want to watch sports, you have a good view of a TV pretty much anywhere at the bar. Decent beer selection, 16 on draft with a few local choices like Zero Day and Wyndridge Farms which I always like to see. Good food. Bartenders and servers are great.

The fish is amazing. Wife had the cod, I had the grouper Rueben. Prices are well worth what you get. I cant say enough about the quality, it was top notch. The staff was super freindly. Dont be discouraged by a full parking lot there is lots of dining room inside. I will be coming back, i think i found a regular spot. Thank you.

Good food & good service. This is not the old Growler & it wasnt meant to be. Check it out for yourself. If its not for you dont worry about it there are many other choices in the area. Im glad York Street Grill is here & will enjoy going there whether for food or just a cold beverage.

Pizza are GREAT. drinks/wine are pricey non-happy hour. Food is OK but again pricey. If youre looking for a replacement for the Growler, this is not it. More upscale, decor is beautiful, and the restrooms are redone.

Initial experience when they first opened was not good. I decided to give it another try. Ive been there three times since for dinner. The food was good, friendly service and prices are reasonable on most menu items!

A lot nicer/brighter/cleaner than when it was Grandpas Growler, but the food doesnt have the "greasy bar food" taste and price you look for. This is only my first time back though, so Ill give it another try soon.

This is a MASSIVE improvement over the Growler! The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. Parking can still be iffy, but worst case scenario youll be walking a block to your car.

Very friendly waitress. Cathy is the waitress Ive had the pleasure to be greeted and served by every time I go there. She always knows what I ordered previously.
