Have lived in Portland for 70 years. My wife and I just discovered this restaurant. I know of no better take out Chinese food any place in Portland. We ordered four things from the menu. When we got the boxes home they were packed full - literally PACKED. After three people had taken up their plates full of everything we ordered, the boxes still looked as full as boxes of takeout normally do when you first open them. In other words the quantity of food copious. More importantly, the quality of the food was excellent. Delicious tasting. Most impressive was the generosity of the ingredients themselves when it came to the meat items. Chicken, pork, shrimp, or scallops, whichever kind it was for the dish, it was supplied in super abundant proportion. This restaurant is a flat out gem and it is beyond me how anyone could have given it a poor rating. The lady who seems to apparently be the owner comes across as a competent, no nonsense person, but quite friendly if you engage her. A fabulous experience to have discovered this place.

Weve been eating here in 2002! My family would eat here every time wed visit our families in Portland (lived on Ft. Lewis, WA from 12/03 until 5/12) and we eat here one to two times per month even if its probably well over 17 miles one way from North Portland. Great soup, love the Happy Family, Hunan Trio, Combination plates are good if you want a mix of things, good sized appetizer plate and very good crab puffs. Tiny bar attached with a full bar and lottery. Well continue to drive there passing numerous other Chinese restaurants.

The food was super good...the customer service was terrible!! I have eaten here many times and never been treated like this. I was ignored and only a few people in the restaurant and waited 45 minutes for our appetizers and 30 minutes for the egg flower soup. All the server said to me was ready...at the beginning and end of the meal. Then the waitress followed me out the door telling my I only left a dollar tip!

Best Chinese Food Ive ever tasted and possibly the best on the west coast. This place, blows all of the Chinese Resturants out of the water that are back on the East Coast. Not lieing! If you are looking for amazing food, amazing service, and amazing hospitality, then this is the place I highly recommend! If you do chose this wonderful location, you must must must order the crab puffs!

The customer service wasnt bad, quite the opposite. Unfortunately our food didnt taste authentic. It seems to be so americanized up to a point where you dont know if you are having Chinese, American or other type of food in between. Their dishes are OK, but definitely they cant be compared to several other Chinese restaurants downtown.

Not fancy, but food is four star. Once you come in often enough, the ladies up front remember you and your favorites, joke and tease with you, and make you feel confortable. Food is fresh and hot. BBQ pork is the best I have ever had, and Taste of Villages Orange chicken far exceeds Panda Expresss sticky glop they call orange chicken!

Great food at this little place. You wouldnt think to go to Troutdale for Chinese food, but if you like the Americanized version, this is a dependably great place. Generous portions, food served hot, good value for the money. The ambiance isnt anything to write home about, but its about what Id expect for the pricing level.

This is a small family restaurant with much better than average Chinese food and good service. We were there with a party of 9 on a Tuesday evening and the place was full at 6:00 p.m. Thank goodness we had reservations. If the facility were nicer it would be five stars easily. The portions were large and presented well.

Poor customer experience. Walked in to being told "oh you want a seat" then menus were slammed onto table without a word and immediately cleaned table behind us. Lastly water glasses were slammed onto table without a word and water splashed everywhere. Not worthy of our money to be treated poorly.

The VERY BEST Chinese food in the Greater Metro Area. Sure, the service is not the best and the atmosphere stinks, but the food is the freshest, most reasonably priced in town. Youre CRAZY for not going if youre out that way!!! Try the General Tsos Chicken and the House Special Lo Mein.

The meal I had was very good , the atmosphere was ok, the wait staff was nice to me, nothing special , I was there to eat not make friends. I will go there again , the fried shrimp could use alittle help. The portions were big , you get your moneys worth. I will tell you more later .

Been eating at Taste of Village for many years.. Still consider it the best Chinese food anywhere in the Portland Metro area.. Actually, love the "gruff server" others complain about.. Best choice for me is the House Special Lo Mein.. Outstanding choice and a huge portion of food!

Food is great and the only reason I go back. The customer service is HORRIBLE! Maybe some PR skills would make this a great place to come to and more often. Even though food is good, its still the "last" place I will go based on their customer service.

Was just in the bar for 45 mins. The lady that was working did not even acknowledge myself, or my girlfriend. They have good food, but lack of service will result in me not returning. This occurrence has happened more than one time. Money down the drain.

Was the fried rice days old or weeks old, so much onion in the sub gum chicken, its all you could taste, change your fryer oil & the fried shrimp might be edible, s&s pork was so gross, mystery meat? Never eat there again.

Usually really good food. Its our go to place. Or it was until we noticed a string from a rag floating in our water cup.. Pretty gross. And they didnt apologize or anything. We probably wont be coming back unfortunately..

One of the few places that makes chow mein with bean sprouts instead of noodles. Plus they say they make their egg rolls from scratch instead of frozen like most cheap Chinese American restaurants.

Services was awful! Very rude people working there. We had our food which wasnt awful. My wife had an egg roll, which had some glass shards in it. For sure we will never go back.

The food is fresh and tasty. The combination dinner I had was enough for a second meal. The service was good and the wait for our food was not long at all.

It is not the best or the worst is simply the only Chinese restaurant there. Prices are OK but I have tried better Chinese food for less money.
