I was at this place a little over a year ago. The place was completely empty despite it being a weekend (a bad sign). The only other people were 5 clearly overly intoxicated men sitting at the bar in the back. The food was okay, but the atmosphere was not good. There was one older guy that seemed to have no background in the restaurant or service industry that acted as our server, bartender, and presumably the cook. The thing that really rubbed me the wrong way was their inability to pay a $80 video lottery ticket???!! They said we would have to come back tomorrow or continue playing until it was lost!! Fast forward to last Friday. A friend has purchased a Groupon and invites me and two other friends to go. I reluctantly agreed. Once again the place is empty on a Friday night (Warning sign!), all four of us agreed the food was mediocre at best. My dish (Verde Chicken Enchiladas) was tasty, but served luke warm and undercooked. One friend ordered the Chimichanga and commented that it tasted freezer burned. Another friend commented her Mango (I think) Margarita tasted like it had been blended with a mix that had been sitting in a refrigerator for too long, and had a strange consistency to it. On a positive note, she did say it had a lot of tequila in it. The biggest problem, and the reason Im taking the time to write this review is all of us ended up sick with some kind of stomach ailment the next morning!!! In my case full blown food poisoning in which I experienced severe stomach cramping, body aches, nausea, and a fever averaging 102. I could not get out of bed for the entire weekend except to the toilet and came close to calling an ambulance at one point. Stay away from this place!!!

When you come from a family of never-tippers and you tip nearly 50%, then you know the food and service is phenomenal! My husband and I agree that 5 stars is not enough! 12 is more like it. It kicks the competition flat on its butt! My family LOVES Mexican food so Ive eaten at many restaurants in several states. Hands down Ivan (the chef) makes the best rice Ive had in my entire life! I felt like my stomach was smiling the whole way home. We even passed a dog we knew and let the owner sample our leftovers and he was just as ecstatic as we were! He headed that way with a jump in his step eager to try it for himself. I feel like I could be a missionary for the place because its soo delicious! Our waiter turned out to be the owner and he was the best waiter Ive ever had. Ask for Eladio. After our meal we found out he was the owner! I loved his superior service. He listened carefully as we ate and was there in under ten seconds with whatever else we wanted without us even having to ask! He never was pushy about extras like dessert either. The ladies room was also clean and heated. Best service and food.

Hands down the best Mexican food weve had in Oregon. Were from the south so we love our Tex-Mex! The menu has an incredible variety - even better theyre able and willing to modify recipes to accommodate all diets and lifestyles. I highly recommend for all. As a vegan I find it extremely difficult to find restaurants so willing to accommodate. My kids are happy, my husbands happy, and our wallet is happy. If youre vegetarian or vegan go, its a must. P.S. The staff are kind and honest. I left my purse without realizing and when I noticed it was missing days later I went to the restaurant and I was greeted with "I know why youre here, come with me". She led me to my purse with everything still in tact. Over $100 in cash, medication, and electric gadgets. Theyre the best!

True Mexican food! Best Guacamole and salsas in town. Warm tortilla chip while you wait for lunch/ dinner. I paid only $7.95 for the chicken Deluxe Quesadilla. A HUGE selection of beers from around the world. GREAT prices on food, mixed drinks, large potion sizes. (You will be asking for a togo bag) A sweet Family run place with all the delights of handed down Mexican recipes . Buy one get one specials. your 4th visit is a free meal. Best customer service you could ask for. The food was just soooooooooooooooooooo good!!! Great place for kids too. Full American and Mexican menu with again cheap prices. A must for anyone looking for real handmade from scratch mexican food.

Came in today expecting to taste great Mexican food. I was disappointed with the food. The wait was exceptionally long even tho it was just us (group of 4) and another table ( group of 3 ). To start of with the advertising on the window said homemade tortillas only to find out the corn tortillas are homemade the flour ones were store bought :/ the food like I said was a disappointment. Beans were extremly dry, rice was hard. My plate was chicken in cream sauce and lets just say I had a stomach ache after eating. I asked everyone in my table about their food and everyone gave it thumbs down.

As a fan of dark, bitter mole, this place blew me away. The burritos are very good as well. The salsa that accompanies the complimentary chips is fetching, too. How empty the place is most nights baffles me, despite its busy locale on HWY 99. If there is absolutely no wait here or at Por que no? (like thats gonna happen), Im probably going to El Guajillo first.

My spouse is from San Antonio, Texas, and Mexican food is our favorite! This Restaurant is absolutely one to go to. Their food is extraordinarily good and the service is always with a smile. Good seating and lighting, very clean and well kept. 5 stars all the way! Graylin and Sylvia Holmes

Lunch was decent, but far from authentic Mexican cuisine. Bland, dry meat, and not as fresh as I hope for from a Mexican restaurant. Chips and salsa were better than some other places in the region. The staff was very friendly though. I may try again to see if I was just there on a bad day.

We have been to El Guajillo several times since we first discovered it. This is REAL Mexican food and its great! Service is a little slower than the chain restaurants but small price to pay when everything is homemade including the delicious white corn tortillas.

Great value. I ordered the 3 item combination and the portions were ginormous. The Bomba Guajillo was a perfect drink with my meal. Pacifico and Modelo on tap, what else could you ask for? Use a Groupon and enjoy a delicious Mexican meal.

This is my new jam!! Love this place reminds me of all the best parts of my ex-wife, her mommas cooking. Get the Mariscos Molchahete a few rounds of beer and finish it with a Cadillac. Next beer is on me if you dont love it, Cheers!

Nothing spectacular, but definitely not bad. Like stated previously, the salsa is decent. I ordered carnitas tacos, and carnitas should be crispy on the outside. The pork was not over cooked though, it was quite juicy and good.

5 stars is hard to earn in my opinion. I have ordered several dishes from here with my girlfriend and everything has been absolutely delicious. I love carnitas dishes. Everything has been on point and servies is awesome.
