Heard good reviews about this place so we tried it out. Not recommended. Food was overpriced and underwhelming. Hardly any flavor, no garlic or lime, had that "table salt" taste (Mexican food without garlic or lime...are you kidding me?). Only two tortillas each (frugal) and they were tasteless. Poblano pepper, stodgy, bland. The place looks fairly pretentious, like they didnt really know what they were trying to create. Not authentic Mexican, and not intentional in design. Passive-aggressive waitress who asked if we enjoyed our meal, and when we answered honestly she replied "The chef will be very offended. Would you like to speak to him?"......was she looking for a fight? What kind of response is that? Paid $130 for three of us, not a cheap eat, certainly not satisfied, felt pretty ripped off actually. On the way home we were still hungry . Stopped and got takeout from Por Que No....very satisfied, great food, always creative and delicious and flavorful and way more "autentica". If you are looking for really authentic Mexican food try "Calaca Comelona". Fantastic looking ambient place with art and brilliant Oaxacan food....the real deal.

If I could give a -5 rating I would. I ordered the Barbacoa for $22, which is suppose to be Brisket, instead Pot Roast was served with over 50% fat. After calling over the host who seated us and telling him my disappointment in the dish, he simply stated that brisket has a lot of fat, I suggested that with 50% fat Ill pay $11 instead of $22. A suggestion on his part was to order something else. At that point, really, are you kidding me and told him to take it away. No one else came over to the table. No owner, manager, cook (and I say cook because this place does not have a chef). When I went to leave - of course with out paying - the server finally came over to say something, which of course at that point I didnt even want to hear it. My wife talked to the server and told her how DISAPPOINTED we were, that the brisket was actually pot roast, she said, I know, and was sorry. Dont WASTE your TIME or MONEY on this place, it is not worth it

Birthday dinner for the husband, everything was great, including the birthday shot of tequila. We had a Caesar salad (the dressing and bread was divine but the romaine leaves were a little hard to eat gracefully) and also the other one on the menu (I forget the name of it), both delicious. Served with warm tortillas and three dipping sauces/salsas. My husband ordered the half chicken and I ordered the chicken enchiladas, which came with two enchiladas, one with red sauce and one with green, with a chile relleno in between. Fabulous. Mouth heaven. With an amazing tres leches cake for dessert - with a candle. :-) Server very nice, adequate wine with a good pour, friendly place, nice table by the window. Well go back more often. Love it.

Are you kidding me? This is by far the best Mexican food I have ever eaten in my life. Delectable sauces, came with my plate of delicately cooked meat, there were no less than 6-8 sauces. The tortillas were by far the best I have ever had, besides my grandmothers when I was little. She could make perfectly round small flour tortillas. The ceviche was very high end cooking. I loved the homie yet elevated experience. After visiting Le Pigeon, Navarre, Touche, Paleys Place and a number of other restaurants in Portland -this was my favorite. Spectacular experience. It is a bit far out from the downtown center. But if you want to really experience the best Portland has to offer -do not miss Authentica!

Many options of Tacos, too much Cilantro. Seating is like a dinner style and can be crowded. The service was okay, seemed to be overwhelmed with large crowd. No water or drinks were made available unless you served yourself. No napkins or silverware on table again you would need to fend for yourself. Another one time stop for me, not calling my name to try again or recommend.

The first couple times I ate here I absolutely loved everything I ate and drank. That was before the expansion project(s?). Then I brought my mother one morning after being away for a while and discovered changes that were not positive, mostly having to do with the quality of the food. It just wasnt the same, and I havent been back, but Im sure the food is still relatively good.

Just came to this place and they apparently closed an hour early. Thank you for ruining my plans for my bfs birthday. Took a lyft and everything at prime rate. I was so excited to try this place and it is so sad that you dont respect your customers time and dollars. Dont advertise closing at a certain time if you close whenever you feel like.

Two words, white mole. Up until that point I was pleased but not overly enthused with the meal. This dish blew me away. An incredibly creative, complex and flavorful preparation that shouldnt be missed. The pork was a bit more cooked than I would prefer, but the flavors were overwhelming. Absolutely delicious.

Fabulous gourmet Mexican food. Their boutique style is refreshing take on Mexican. The staff take pride in everything. No chips but they serve homemade tortillas with three different salsas. The bar can do great craft cocktails if you ask. My favorite dish is the queso fundido con chorizo. Its small but delicious.

Great atmosphere, decent guacamole and tortillas, although how hard is that? Took 15 minutes for a drink order, another 20 for the drinks, and by that time we had an appetizer... Seriously lame. I would have liked to try the entrées but alas, I wasnt an important enough customer I guess.

Absolutely the best authentic Mexican cuisine by far! This is NOT a chips and salsa kinda place. The staff is very genuine and will explain any menu item to you. The Pollo Mole is fantastic and come with rice cooked in a corn husk, and make sure you try the Queso Fundido!

Fantastic Mexican food. Not so much burritos and tacos; this is real entrees instead of border food. The barbacoa is my favorite, the mole chicken is my wifes. But everything Ive had here is good. The margaritas are good but not as much of a tequila flavor as I like.

The crane Assad supreme burrito at El Littoral is one of the better burritos Ive had. Its also the size of my face, and very reasonably priced. Cheap beer. I love the green salsa at the salsa bar. Its spicy and refreshing at the same time. Awesome music, too.

By far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Portland! Go for brunch or dinner and enjoy their amazing tortillas with an array of handmade spicy sauces. Their quesadilla is incredible. You get what you pay for here - delicious, authentic, gourmet food.

I love this place. Their sauces are delicious (mole sauce rediculously good) and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Its definitely not a taqueria/burrito place but its my favorite upscale Mexican food in town.

An authentic rip-off. Spent $86 for the two of us, and the only thing edible was the side of rice. The rest was terminally pedestrian. They need to cut back on the corn starch and stop smothering everything in sauce.

Amazing! Their price per plate is somewhat higher than it would be somewhere else, but if youre looking quality, authentic Mexican food then heres the place to be. Best part, to me, is their hand made tortillas!
