Im not the kind of person who is easy to please but, oh...my....GOSH... breakfast heaven! This place is outstanding! If you love breakfast food like I do you have to come here. First, dont be put off by the modest exterior--if breakfast has a Disneyland, this is the place! The regular menu has standard selections but they have an extensive specials menu with some pretty elegant variety--and yes, elegant applies here. There were half a dozen daily specials so unique you wont find them anywhere else. I came here this morning after leaving another restaurant in town where I sat for 10 minutes and no one even took my order. At The Orginal Breakfast, the servers really seem to work as a team, I was actually served by three different people. I was greeted immediately, quickly given a menu, and my attentive server, Ashley, took my order as soon as my eyes left the menu. My food came so fast I questioned whether it was my order! I counted four cooks in the kitchen, this place knows what theyre doing. I ordered the Denver omelette and their fresh squeezed orange juice and my standard side order--I sample the biscuits and gravy every time I go to a new breakfast restaurant, it tells me a lot. I was not disappointed. It was probably the best Denver omelette I have ever had, and the biscuits and gravy the best Ive had in years. Part of me wanted to give the place four stars because the prices are a little spendy, but I just couldnt. The combination of lightning fast and super friendly service, plus out of this world good food demanded a five star rating. Besides, if you really want to energize your day with a breakfast experience and not just fill your stomach, the prices here are worth it. You get what you pay for. Next time I will probably venture off the standard menu to one of their unique specials. I will be back here--often!

Today, I tasted heaven. How can I ever go back to earth? The answer: I cant! Americans have forgotten all about natural pure flavor, and have become all about quantity over quality. Yet, they complain about their waistlines. Chef/Owner Edward...and his amazing cook staff gave my friend and I the most orgasmic delectable meal this morning. We began with the Shrimp Dante Omelette which was a mouthful of yummy goodness savory creamy fluffy rich divine! We also had the Cream Cheese stuffed Blueberry French Toast. This should be illegal. It was so amazing that I felt I should convert to Catholicism just so I can go to confession. The piece de resistànce was the special treat he brought out at the end of our meal. The fresh hand homemade prefectly fried crab cake with hollandaise sauce which was creamy and smooth on my tongue, the perfectly cooked asparagus which laid across the top crunched as I bit its bright green skin. All plated on a eggplant purple plate was not only a pleasure for my mouth but my eyes as well. I will never eat breakfast again in Albany unless it comes from this staff. Thank you for the greatest breakfast food experience of my life. Jo Dee

September 08 I wish I could show you the pictures of the amazing food that was coming from the kitchen. As my wife and I traveled through town on our way to Portland we crossed this BRIGHT building. Its a CRAZY COLOR! (Have you seen the paint job?) The food was amazing. Service was excellent. We tried so many differnt things off the menu and were blown away by all of them. BOLD FLAVORS, and creative dishes are what your gonna get here!!! I would eat there every day if we lived closer! -- Jan 09 So this strange thing happened to me and my wife last night- we were getting ready to go to bed on a Friday night, and as though we had ONE brain, we both said, "Hey, lets go eat breakfast at that place up in Albany!" The ORIGINAL BREAKFAST- Again the food was PERFECT- we got the veggie omlet, side of bacon and sourdough toast. It was amazing! Why isnt there one of these places in every city?

This place gets 5 stars when theyre not crowded and 3-stars when theyre busy. I suggest going early (before 10:00) if youre going on a weekend. If you get there at 10:00 or later, the hard truth is that the food wont be as good, youre going to have to wait for it, and the staff wont have time to do the simple things like refill your coffee. For some reason, they dont bring in enough staff to cover those busy times. So, the food sits in the window, the server doesnt check on you after dropping off the food, and you wait a long time for the privilege. When theyre not busy, the experience is much better. The food is delicious and hot. The servers are friendly and attentive, and theres no waiting for the best breakfast in Albany. Of course, the price of the meals is more than youll pay at Pops or Dennys, but the food is higher quality.

Weve been going to this restaurant for the past two years or so. Initially, our whole family and anyone we brought along LOVED Original Breakfast! However, the past three visits were so awful that weve decided never to return. The server did as good a job as she could, but she is always the ONLY server working! Our wait last week was nearly two hours total. Thats waiting in lobby, waiting for menus, for our order to be taken...you get the idea. Food last time was horrendous as well. What was worse was watching one of the cooks laugh while our server floundered. Broke my heart. Also learned that the owner was in several times that day and didnt bring in any extra help or bother to offer himself as help. That tells me he cares little for his customers and even less for his employees. Sad.

Stopped by here on way from Seattle to Eugene. Sounded good with its signage of being something like how Grandmas would do it. Well, I think Grandmas must of actually been in the kitchen with her walker because it took over an hour to get our food and the place wasnt even all that busy. In fact, people that came in after us got served before us. Some lame story about how a cook had to leave to go get some wine for some menu option that we didnt even order. Said the kitchen got backed up, but still no explanation for why others got served before us. Will never stop here again on our many trips to Eugene. Besides the extremely uncaring and poor customer service, the food actually wasnt anything special. Save yourself some grief and skip by this place next time you are in the area.

I am so disappointed. For years this has been my favorite breakfast place. They used to have the most delicious biscuits and gravy. When I moved to portland, I couldnt eat anyone elses b&g because they just werent as good. I came back a few months ago and the once delicious cakey biscuit was crispy and weird. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said they were heating the biscuits on the griddle. Buy when I came back today, not only had the biscuits changed bit the gravy was totally different: bland, chunky and had a burnt oil aftertaste. I am so sad. The rest of my breakfast was amazing as usual and the service was great, but i used to come for the biscuits and gravy. I guess I will have to find a new favorite.
