Ive never waited so long for food and drinks as I did here. Got here on a Friday around 7:30, we were quickly seated and placed our orders: 1 sparking water, 2 horchatas, and 2 orders of chorizo tacos and the shrimp skewer dinner. We asked for glasses of water since it was in the high 80s out and they had the door open with no access running, but they only do bottled water, so we figured we would just wait for the horchatas. That was mistake number 1, the horchatas took 30 mins to get to our table. So now we finally have a drink of some sort the food cant be much longer, oh how we were wrong. Our meals didnt come out until 9:30pm, 2 HOURS after ordering. While we were waiting we watched wave after wave after wave of to go food leaving, but no food going to any of the tables. I understand you have to with for good food, but 2 hours for some tacos and shrimp skewers? More like they put a priority on their to go food. While we were waiting the server kept coming and apologizing for the wait, but no offer of chips and salsa or anything the help with the hanger that was building. We finally got our food, and devoured it it since we waited so long smelling food cooking and watching the food related shows they had on the TV, so I really cant give a good review of how it tasted since I would have found McDonalds delicious after such a long, tortuous wait. When we finally got our bill, the server again apologized for the wait, but to our surprise nothing was taken off or a % taken off for waiting so long while people who ordered delivery were getting all their food.

I am truly fascinated with the food served in this restaurant. First, The place is very welcoming. it is simple but at the same time sophisticated with beautiful paintings of Mexican Artist Frida Kahlo. In addition, the menu is easy and simple to understand and the prices are very affordable. The food is amazing. We ordered Chicken Tacos. The meat was tender and juicy. The ingredients used were very fresh. For the main course I ordered Chicken Enchiladas with MOLE. I must confess that has been one of the most exquisite Mole Sauce that I haver tasted. My wife ordered Chicken Tostadas. Once again the ingredients were fresh, the food was prepared fresh and served on a timely manner. I truly enjoyed the experience at this restaurant. The simple but appealing ambience, service and the family style comfort distinguishes this restaurant. I would definitively go back with family and friends. And I highly recommend the restaurant and I strongly encourage you to try the food and support this business.

Excellent, authentic food, but overpriced with shady customer service. After asking for water, the waiter returned with two bottles as if offering them to us. We flagged him down and said we would prefer tap water. Only after asking him did we find out the bottles were $1 each. When we asked for tap water, the waiter informed us that they were under construction and tap water wasnt available. It remains unclear to me why I was able to flush the toilet in their bathroom, wash my hands in their sink, and eat on dishes that had (hopefully) been cleaned in tap water, when supposedly this water was unavailable. If that were truly the case, my bottled water should have been complimentary, and the situation should have been explained to me beforehand. This was a big disappointment given how much I like El Kucho. Ill be taking my future burrito business elsewhere, as there are plenty of good options just around the corner.

Same experience as customers below. No tap water because "they are out of it." Which also means they have no water to wash dishes with or clean their establishment. Pretty sure thats how establishments get shut down. OR, this is a crappy way of making customers buy bottled water. So they are lying to get an extra $2 out of me? Gross The food is equivalent to the fast food chain San Loco. However, their pricing is much higher! $16 for nachos....and by nachos, i mean Ball Park Nachos. Hey- Im all for ball park nachos every once in a while...but that does not qualify as "homemade authentic Mexican fare"....especially for $16. At checkout, I was informed that their minimum CC charge is TWENTY DOLLARS. Thankfully, the dude "let that slide for now." Well ill be sliding my way to anywhere else that isnt El Kucho.

Found the menu on our door step today. Got super excited to place my order and get my 15% to try to the food! We called in to order and after we gave the order over the phone I told him we have the card that says 15% off our first order. The person on the phone then told me I had to down load an all and enter the code...I spent 5 mins trying to find the app to download and after I down loaded it and places my order again for the 2nd time the code was not working. I called back and the person on the phone response was "I dont know what to tell you". I find that to be extremely poor customer service and a horrible attitude to have to potentionally new customers. Hopefully their food is amazing because their customer service SUCKS! Will not ever get my business or recommend anybody to here. :) A-holes

First time here, came with hubby. Waiter had excellent customer service, he was very polite. For appetizer we had the tostones a la Mexicana, they were really good. Loaded crunchy tostones loaded with guacamole. I orderd the chicken quesadilla and it was amazing, the best quesadilla I ever had. Its like a cross between a quesadilla and a pupusa. My husband ordered the enchilada and he really enjoyed it, he just kept mentioning how much he likes Mexican food lol. Over all we really enjoyed this place, the food was nice and fresh. We will come back.

The rating of this place really surprises me. Two words best describe this place, mediocre and stingy. From the lack of tap water to the $1 charge for a miniature cup of extra salsa to-go (which is needed on their terribly dry burritos), it gives off the impression that every extra napkin they give away will put them under. What I found really appalling was the attitude of the staff. The stellar reviews would make me think that this part of Bushwick was starved for good Mexican food, but I know that is not the case as there are many other great options close by.

The food is very authentic, the tortas are loaded with meat and the tostadas are huge with real oaxacan cheese! They can do a little bit better with the pambazos as they are not completely soaked with the salsa! Overall the place is great and our server, Roberto, was very welcoming!!

My new favorite place for Mexican food in the neighborhood. $2.50 for soft tacos with delicious homemade corn tortillas. Original homemade sauces. Chicken burrito is my favorite item so far. Roberto the manager is very nice, as are his cousins who own the place. Highly recommended!

One of the greatest local businesses in Bushwick. The delicious, authentic food is outshined only by the friendly, personable staff. My friends and I are regulars here, and havent found better food or staff anywhere around. Go get the chorizo burrito and you will not regret it!
