I really wanted to love this place. My husband and I came here because we were starving and wanted to have a nice lunch by the water before visiting the Rosie the Riveter Museum. We literally stood at the hostess-less front door for 10 minutes. The only two employees that got close enough to where we were standing were clearly trying to avoid eye contact. It wasnt until we finally caught the attention of a busser who, clearly way too busy to look up from what he was doing, unprofessionally mumbled that he didnt know where the hostess was before walking off. I then overheard the two aforementioned employees annoyingly ask each other where she was. Just as I turned to my husband to say, "This was a mistake," the plain-clothed hostess arrived. I had no clue she was even an employee by the way she was dressed in a tank top and jeans (apparently everyone else was required to wear a professional-looking uniform?) until she started to grab menus. She was obviously as equally annoyed as her coworkers and caused me to feel as if we had inconvenienced her by showing up. By this point, were already at Strike #2 in my book in less than 15 minutes. Surprisingly, the server came quickly to take our drink orders. Our two waters came and we put in our food orders which I think were simple enough: a burger with fries and beignets (accompanied by jam per their menu). The food came quickly, but not as quickly as the server dismissed us after putting our food on the table. She never offered ketchup for my husbands fries, and when I tried to call out to her to ask for my missing jam, she completely turned her back on me and tended to another (a.k.a. bigger ticket) table. The food was mediocre, but in trying to see the silver-lining of this highly disappointing situation, I was really impressed with the view. What a waste of a beautiful and historic building (Ford Assembly Plant)!

This place is a great place to eat and conversate. I ordered a bacon cheese burger with regular fries on the side. My burger included tomato, onions, pepper jack cheese and bacon. The meat was well cooked and rich in flavor because of the seasoning that was added. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, so thats always good. The only downside is that the burger was more than $15 and for most people that would be overpriced. The burger was delicious, but not $15 worth. A negative during my experience here is that the waiter forgot to bring out water and didnt even ask if we wanted something to drink. After about 10 minutes he realized that he forgot to ask and brought our drinks. Usually the waiter would start you off with drinks, so I dropped a star due to the lack of consistency. I dropped another star for high pricing. FYI - This was my first time eating here. PROS - Good Atmosphere - Delicious Food (burger) - Table Availability CONS - Wait time - Forgot drinks - Prices - Menu (not that many items to choose from)

Wound up in the neighborhood once and visited here on a lark and found it to be reasonable. However, the second and third time we tried to visit, they were closed for various unposted reasons. The third time, really was disconcerting, as wed checked the website before making the trek to this relatively out-of-the-way venue. Although it was about ten minutes past when they were supposed to open, the door was locked. There were plenty of staff inside, but when we caught the attention of one, he made a face of disgust and ignored us. Finally, after several minutes of confusion, someone opened the door and snottily told us they were closed for a private event and should have checked our email. I guess you have to call in advance to find out if theyre even open, or subscribe to their private emails. With discourteous service like that, Im certainly not going to do THAT! Writing this place off.

A great place to stop along the San Francisco Bay Trail for a bite to eat. The menu has interesting combinations and I have always found something that I enjoyed eating. The ambience is great. Right on the water in an old historic building with lots of things left over from its days as the Ford Assembly Plant including a huge boiler and smokestack. The staff is friendly and on busy days, on a mission to keep everyone happy. Always call and make a reservation to 1) make sure they are open and 2) make sure youll get a table. They sometimes close for special events, and are sometimes overwhelmed by a tour bus that stops by. The weekend brunches are very busy, but really fun. If its nice outside, ride up on your bike and enjoy your meal from the patio.

Located next to the Rosie The Riveter Museum this casual fun lunch local certainly did its job of taking the edge off after a spectacular morning in the museum. Service was prompt and food was delightful and my four stars instead of five has to do with a habit too many restaurants are getting into, that of removing one customers plate while others at the table are still eating. It makes those still finishing feel like they need to hurry up while also implying to me that the restaurant is only concerned with turning the table rather than satisfying the diner. This was particularly grating on my visit here in that there were plenty of tables open and no one waiting. But still a positive dining experience and a restaurant I wouldnt hesitate to recommend.

If you are ever in the area, worth the stop. Ingredients are super fresh -- many of which come from their own nearby garden. Service is attentive. They derive their name from being housed in a portion of the old Ford Assembly Plant and have ample choices on the menu to please about any palate. They definitely pull in clientele from people enjoying the San Francisco Bay Trail and the nearby Rosie the Riveter Museum, but I would not hesitate to drive the few extra miles to reach them when I am in the area for something else. They have a mixture of patio and indoor seating. Definitely a good quality dining choice for the area and one we will be back to enjoy again sometime soon.

This is the 3rd time weve eaten at Assemble. We were delighted to find it first when we visited the wonderful Rosie the Riveter National Historic Museum. The waterfront location is delightful, The atmosphere is casual, both inside and out. We love examining the massive equipment inside. The staff works hard and works well together. They really hustle, as they always seem to be busy. However - weve never had a wait for a table, though it takes a bit of time to get our food. The menu has a nice variety, and the quality of the meals is excellent. Im amazed Assemble has so few reviews! In a way. Maybe were all wanting to keep a good restaurant secret.

I had the fish and chips at $18. The chips were french fries but well prepared. Disappointingly the club soda batter was very hard and the fish over cooked. The waiter we had was very attentive and provided excellent service. I was working at the location and sat at one of their outside tables the next day and a women entering the building made a snide comment about liking their table I was sitting at. Yes, I like the table more than your food.

Note it was a busy day when we had lunch however, the food was mediocre at best. It is a cool place with a great view, but, I had to send my burger back because it was floating in grease. I later that day came back for a beer, went to the bar and the bartender said he was closed, the bar was full, he further told me that he has an event he had to get ready for. By the time he finished talking he could of got us a beer. I will not return.
