I have never been to a Cameron Mitchell restaurant I wasnt impressed with and this concept is no exception. We went on a double date with some friends and had 6:30 reservations on a Saturday night. I knew it would be busy but when we got there, there wasnt one single parking spot in their huge parking lot. Fortunately they have complimentary valet! The restaurant itself is very big. Theres a big front room and several others off to the side including a screened on back patio. It has a very rustic feel but I recommend wearing something nice. I wore khaki pants casual Sperry sneakers and an untucked button up shirt and I felt a little under dressed. Ok, lets first talk about the drink selection. They have maybe 20-30 different whiskeys to choose from;mostly bourbons and ryes. They have a pretty extensive wine list too. I didnt notice and substantial beer menu but with all the whiskeys to choose from I didnt mind. We all shared the shrimp scampi to start. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the scampi sauce was very light and flavorful. I had the twin filets topped with Brie. They know how to do steak here! The filets melted in your mouth and the Brie was slightly melted but still in tact. For dessert, my wife and I split the chocolate cake. Im usually more into lighter, fruitier desserts but this cake was very moist and very good. This place is maybe not an every week place but for great food for any occasion this is the place.

I gave a four-star rating because of past experiences. The food is always great and the service is always great as well. I was there last Saturday and had a zero-star experience. We had a reservation for 7:00. We showed just before 7:00 and were seated in the bar. There were seats in the dining room available. The bar was so noisy (the entire time) I could barely hear the server. It was also next to impossible to hear my wife seated on the other side of the table. Then they seated 8 guys at the table next to us. It then went from next to impossible to hear each other to impossible. We finally stopped trying. I wanted to enjoy a nice dinner with my wife, instead it was a miserable experience. In all fairness, we should have asked to be reseated. However (also in all fairness), we should have been asked if sitting in the bar was OK. We did not walk in without a reservation so it wasnt a take whatever we could get situation. We had a reservation. We have been there too many times before to know better than to show up without a reservation. If we wanted to have dinner in a bar, we could go to Applebees and spend $40 instead of $200. Please ask people before you sit them in the bar. It is noisy (as is expected, it a bar!) so people wishing to have a nice dinner with their significant other would prefer not to sit there. As always, the food was great and the service was great!

The restaurant is over priced for average food. The management is unprofessional and they seem to treat their employees terrible. I witnessed not once but twice a manager reprimanding a server in front of guests. For example I saw a manger carrying dishes from the bar to the kitchen and counting loudly his own steps, while the server followed behind. The server must of been putting dirty dishes behind the bar and didnt have time to take them to the kitchen. So instead of the manger taking the server aside he made and example of him in front of guests, including me. I was appalled, embarrassed and felt sorry for the server. This is unacceptable and again truly very unprofessional. I would of expected more from a Cameron Michel restaurant. I will not be going to anymore more Cameron Michell establishments. If there was an option to of given zero stars I would of.

We were hesitant due to the mediocre reviews but found The Barn to be excellent in many ways. We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation so that we could check out the Bourbon bar. The place is gorgeous and the bar service was top notch. I had the special Woodford Reserve and it was great and they certainly didn’t short poor anything. We also had the baked oysters which are worth going back for. We had requested a quiet booth for our anniversary and they got us a great table. I will admit that our waitress was a bit below what you typically find at this dollar level of restaurant but there was no problem with attitude or attentiveness. We found all of our food to be great and very comparable to what we get at Mitchell’s Steakhouse or Hyde Park.

This is another Camron Mitchell restaurant. The decor is great, inviting and warm. I attended at dinner party of approximately 25 people. I sampled the shrimp cocktail, goat cheese ravioli, and calamari for appetizers. All tasted great. The ravioli was served with a tasty mushroom sauce and the calamari were tender and delicious. For dinner I choose the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection. While the food was delicious the service was incredible slow. I was able to identify at least four employees servicing our group. However cocktail service was at least 10 minutes between order and delivery. Up to 30 minutes passed between courses. While I was very pleased with the quality of the food I could not help but be disappointed with the service.

We love The Barn!!! Upscale all the way. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The food is super fresh and heathy, much better than any of the Cameron Mitchells Ive visited. The steaks are melt in your mouth fantastic, the fresh made horseradish was an awesome surprise. The Mary Pickford is a great drink. Our 3rd visit, on our anniversary (Feb. 14), I was not real happy about having to sit on the patio. Its still winter and unlike most people who always wear jeans, I dress for dinner. Glad I choose to wear my long skirt rather than the short one, never the less being seated in the corner of a covered heated patio in winter, it was not at all warm.

My wife and I dined at the Barn for a second time last night. The first time the food was pretty good but the service was terrible. We felt that we should give them a second chance. This time, we both ordered primer rib to be prepared medium rare. Both of our prime ribs were delivered medium well. Although they were still somewhat tender, obviously, being medium well, the taste of the meat was bland. Also, we were both told we could have one side with our meal, but we were charged $2 each for the sides without being told by the server. This was definitely our last trip. For a $100 meal, I would expect much more.

Im kind of a bourbon snob so naturally I had to check out the whiskey lounge. It did not disappoint, the selection was wonderful and the prices werent anything outrageous. My sister and I decided to get some food after tasting the rolls with maple butter (phenomenal). We both got the fried chicken, all white meat for her, mixed for me. It was cooked well, very tasty. Atmosphere was fun and nicely decorated for Christmas. I even saw Jane Grote of Donatos pizza fame! Highly recommend for special occasions or the whiskey lover in your family!
