I dont usually leave poor reviews, but I have not had this disappointing of an experience with service and food for awhile. I get that my boyfriend and I ate at Sushiko and not at some fancy Japanese restaurant. I get that this is not Japan where I once lived. However, 4 star reviews for this place?! For what?! When we came in, the girl who seated us could not have been less hospitable. We heard an older woman to the side of us complaining about her food as we ordered. My boyfriend went out to the car to get something, and, as he was coming back in, the older woman passed him and, according to him muttered, "They cant cook." We should have listened to her warning and left. We started with crab rangoon that had the strangest taste Ive encountered and had some orange gloopy matter coming out of it. I took one bite and stopped. When my chicken teriyaki bento came out, the chicken was over-peppered and in some strange brown sauce that was NOT teriyaki, the nori in the sushi was beyond chewy, and the tempura and seaweed salad was just poorly done. The only thing I ate was the rice, the cucumber salad, and some of the chicken. When the waitress came over, I told her, "I dont mean to be offensive, but this was not good." She asked me what wasnt good about it, and I told her everything I have written here. We went up to pay, and she said that she had told the manager about our bad experience. Wow. Thanks. That really makes up for it. It doesnt help that my boyfriend ate pretty much everything on his plate and thought it wasnt that bad, Im sure. All I can say is that Ive had stomach cramps since we left there, and Im really hoping I dont end up with worse issues as the evening goes on. You pay for what you get; dont go here.

My wife and I have dined at SushiKo quite a few times over the last several years. Its always been good and we enjoy it. But I wasnt inspired to write a review until last night. Our dinner last night was excellent. They just keep getting better. We started with a couple of excellent Japanese beers. We knew they had the usual most common Japanese offerings of Asahi, Kirin and Sapporo. But I was surprised to learn they also have Orion, from Okinawa. Ive not had Orion since I left Okinawa almost 30 years ago. I had the Orion and my wife chose Asahi. We enjoyed both. We also each had a bowl of miso soup, which is very good. When our sushi and sashimi arrived, we were quite delighted with how artfully the chef had prepared and presented it. It looked wonderful. Not surprisingly, it tasted just as wonderful. Towards the end of the meal, I ordered a bottle of Nigori style (unfiltered, sweet) sake to finish off our dinner. We finished the sushi & sashimi, but still had some sake left. I wanted something for dessert to go with the rest of the sake. Nigori sake goes very well with chocolate. We ordered a slice of cheesecake (with chocolate drizzled over it) to share. It and the sake were a very pleasant finish to our meal. This has been our "go to" place for sushi & sashimi. Last nights dinner just solidified that position. We keep saying were going to try somewhere else. We usually end up at SushiKo.

Sushi here is delicious as well as presentation is top notch! Have to say, they have the BEST crab rangoon appetizer. They market it as premium and it IS. Not just a deep fried puff filled with cream cheese like most places… light and crispy with a definite crab/cream filling… but not fishy. And a wonderful sweet & sour dipping sauce. Delicious! A MUST try. The beef teriyaki is always spot on as well. Comes to your table hot and sizzling in a nice light teriyaki sauce and veggies. Definitely try to make it out Monday night (4:30 til close) for their deals. A lot of the sushi rolls are deep discounted, some almost half off! A really good way to sample and not spend a lot. Really nice, quaint sushi bar/cafe-style atmosphere and service has always been pleasant. Sushiko is our go-to for sushi!!

I went here a few years ago. Well, I tried to, anyway. The first time I went at lunch, and we waited almost 45 minutes before we just left. The second time, after telling us it would be a 20 minute wait, 1.5 hours later, we were finally seated. The food was OK, but the service was terrible. It took at least 15 minutes for our server to even take our order, another 45 minutes to get our food after ordering, and when we were finished, we waited another half an hour for the check. Even after asking our server to bring it, it took that long. We almost walked out. The wait was awful, service was terrible, and the food was way too expensive for the quality. There are other places with much better sushi and other food for the same price or cheaper.

Ive been to Sushi Ko three times. The first two times were okay. The third time was a disaster. Not the best sushi Ive had but not the worst either. They had this roll, Rising Sun, that was delicious. They have since taken it off the menu. My last visit I went with a party of 6. I waited 1.5 hours before walking out of the restaurant without getting my food. Also after asking the waitress why it was taking so long, she laughed at us. Granted it was a nervous laugh, but still, as my friend said... it was straight out of a bad sitcom. I will not go back. The prices are too high and the sushi just isnt that high of quality to put up with the incredibly HORRIBLE service.

We left the German restaurant next door after not being served and opted to come here. Service was prompt, attentive, and everyone was very friendly. We had the shrimp tempura appetizer which was very delicious, especially the shrimp. The scallop rolls were fresh and tasty. My date and I both enjoyed our food. A couple pieces of my largest roll were wrapped loosely, but were still delicious. This is one of two sushi places I will eat in Columbus. If you come from a big city with a diverse selection of sushi restaurants, this might not be your kind of place. But for Cowtown, Im happy to find a place that tastes good, has friendly service, and doesnt make me sick later.

No way this place is worth 4 stars. Went for lunch and ordered a couple of simple rolls, special rolls and some individual sushi pieces. Every roll was rolled loosely so as soon as you picked up a piece it fell apart. The decor definitely leaves something to be desired as well. Its fine for a cheap place, but this place is anything but inexpensive. A single piece of tuna $4.25 and then it falls off the rice when you pick it up. I have eaten at dozens of other sushi places that are better than this. Cost verses quality just isnt there. The only saving grace was the service was decent. That being said, the sushi wasnt very tasty or fresh. I wont be going back.
