***watch your credit card charges**** Last night my husband, my 3 girls, and myself ate here. The food was actually pretty good. The chef did burn some of the rice but the gentleman sitting at the table with us loved his rice burnt. So the small table would have been fine outside our waitress did not pre bus anything without being asked. Also she didnt refill drinks (not that we asked for more than 2) without us asking. We ordered 3 kids meals, 1 steak, and shrimp. Our damage was around 110 plus 3 sushi rolls 165. So having been a waitress I do tip more than 20% most times. However when I got my copy of my card charges the waitress had already added 15% she ran it for like 196. She lied and said thats the policy 4 or more 15% gratuity. My husband pointed out the signs which said 6 or more. The manager then said hed refund the tip back and its always been 6 or more. I told him he didnt have to. I would have left more of a tip. However NO server is confused as to what the cut off of gratuity is. SHE SHOWED ME A RECEIPT THAT WAS FOR MY FOOD ONLY AND RAN IT TO INCLUDE A 15% tip. The tip isnt the point I dont feel like you should run my card for more than I authorize you to. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. ESPECIALLY IF ALL I HAVE IS A CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD.

The hostess had absolutely no manners. We were told we had to sit in specific chairs at the table, even though we were the first guests to the table and it was at least 10 minutes before they sat anyone else at our table. The person taking our orders did not know English, and still got the order wrong when we had to hold up the menu and point to our selections. This same person adjusted the heat on the grill before he left the grill. When the chef arrived, one of the ramekins literally burst sending ceramic pieces everywhere. This was while we the drinks and salads were already present & guests were eating. Instead of making sure no one was hurt, apologizing or completely cleaning everything up he simply gave a couple swipes of his only towel across the grill surface, drizzled oil along the grill as though nothing happened. This is the same towel used for wiping his cooking tools during the meal preparation. We immediately got up and left.

This is the second time I attempted to dine at this place. The first time, I stood at the host stand for 10 mins with employees passing by not seating me when it was 2 hours before close. Im not aware of any repulsive odor or appearing to be some hobo looking for a train to hop into. Not quite sure why I wasnt allowed service... Then today I went and was sat along with another couple of people. This time I made it to the hibachi grill, yippee! I was so excited that I had the chance to eat in this near empty restaurant. Either it is extremely exclusive, or I am some weird recluse that should not be served. This time, neither myself and my guest were served for about 10 mins and the good looking guests across from me. Hmmm... Anyway, if youre looking for food and have an hour to kill before getting it, try this place. Can you do me a favor? Can you let this foody know how the food tasted?

We went to Kobe last night for the first time in about a year and I can say with certainty that we will not be back. The chef was horrible - very rude and our food was burned. We were one of three couples at the table and we all just kept looking at each other in absolute horror while he was preparing the food. The fried rice was nearly inedible. My scallops and egg yolk sauce were black on the bottom, as was our neighbors shrimp. None of us received sauces and when I asked for them the chef got very upset and rude and our waiter intervened as he was horribly embarrassed. He later admitted that we were only the second table of customers that they had had all day. Im not surprised to learn that there is new management, it seemed like a totally different place and not in a good way. I would highly recommend checking out Meijin on Polaris for a consistently good experience.

Called to place orders for work. Mine cash, hers card. Kobe girl says, cant place the order without payment. Cant pay cash over the phone. OK, we will use my co-workers card and I will give u my cash. Kobe girl says, for which order? Oh I can place both orders and pay one with card, and then come pay cash? Kobe girl says yes. OK, lets do the 9.99 order. Kobe girl: No it has to be for both. Ok.... fine, lets do that. Kobe girl: OK when u come bring your card and Id with you. It is not me, im paying cash, and bringing her card. Manager: oh no, i dont know how to do that without both. You can pay cash, but you have to come in and order. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

We were seated immediately. The host was pleasant and the guy who took our order and drinks was nice. He seemed to be knowledgeable of the food and menu choices. Our chef was not very creative or talkative. No jokes, barely a smile. For the 3 of us, we ordered steak, chicken, shrimp and scallops. Thats a good variety to taste the quality. My son said his chicken was hard in some places and didnt eat most of it. I could have pressed the issue to be served another chicken but I didnt. Our tab was nearly $90 + tip put us at $106. Ouch! Beware, on the weekends they serve dinner prices.

I took my boyfriend out to Kobe for his birthday and had quite an experience, and obviously not in a good way. Shortly after we got home, my boyfriend got violently sick. He ordered filet mignon and scallops. He was sick all night and missed a whole day of work the next day. I do have to say in the restaurants favor that I called the next day to get my money refunded and the manager was very apologetic and didnt have any issues refunding my money. It was an unfortunate situation, but the manager handled it the best way possible.

We had a terrible experience here and we will never come back. We sat at the bar for at least 25 minutes before we were helped and that was after asking twice for a bartender. Once we were seated the wait staff was horrible. The managaer was horrible as well and even told us he couldnt get our drinks which was water. We were half way through our meal before water was finally brought out. When I complained about our experience the manager would do nothing to make up for it. Go to The House of Japan acrossed from Tuttle Crossing.

I have been to this restaurant 3 times in the past 6 months and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. There is new management and a new menu so things have changed since a few years ago when it wasnt so great. Those of you who had a bad experience prior to 2010 might want to give it another try. My favorite thing about this restaurant is you can request seating in the lounge for a relaxing and intimate environment. Then order the shrimp and steak and a Kobe Peach drink (my other favorite thing), and you will be delighted!
