If youve ever been to & loved a New Jersey-style diner - but hated that Jersey hospitality - then West Side Market is the place for you. Its got all the trapping of a Jersey diner, including plastic booths, a bar, Formica, local newspaper clippings all over the walls, a great but simple menu - but its got a distinctly Midwestern vibe, with friendly servers & hometown pride. Their menu is ample, & basically anything you get here will be delicious, given that much of the food comes from local vendors whose goods you can buy just next door in the attached West Side Market. I was a HUGE fan of their cornbread waffle, which I expected to be, well, just a waffle, but was in actuality the best, crispiest cornbread Ive ever had, topped with piping-hot honey butter & real Ohio maple syrup. My boyfriend wants to branch out but cant seem to stop ordering their reuben sandwich. The West Side Market doesnt look like much, but its a Cleveland staple, & its a perfect tourist spot for your in-town-for-the-weekend visitors. Show em what Clevelands got!

If you love fresh food, you are instantly smiling and in love with the West Side Market! No better place to buy fresh vegetables, fruits, pastries and meats; and then theres free parking outside the door in back. Heinens is out of business if many of us find this place. The meat prices are 70% less! The fruit and vegetables, about 50% off! You want to save money and get the freshest, best food in the city? Try this place. Its only 17 minutes from my house off Dover Center to the parking lot! The neighborhood is a little old, but the police are well placed, and I havent seen any toughs in any visit there. The locals are poor, but not in heart and spirit. Who isnt short these days, eh? Its one mile north on W 25th from I-90. How simple. Its easier to get to than Westgate, and the culinary rewards are extraordinary! If you shop there once, youll be back with a bigger list next time. Some stall owners have been there 3-4 generations! Some are nicer than others, but overall the quality of food is wonderful!

I have spent a lot of time in NYC and Portland over that past few years and I think what gets me about the West Side Market is how close I feel to these bigger metropolian cities when I am there. Sure the building is old, but isnt that part of the glory? It is awesome to be in such a congested area on a Saturday morning surrounded by the smell of coffee, bakery, fish and fresh cut meats. There is a good mix of rich and poor, old and young, and everyting in between. On Saturdays, I like to sit with my boyfriend on the balcony and watch the shoppers while we chomp on the local dishes. Then we visit our favorite stands and create the most amazing weekend meals. This is defiantely one thing I love about Cleveland.

im not sure if other reviews r employees but service slow three floor staff for about 15 people they spent whole time chatting by bar food was a joke for home fries we received small sweet potatoes cut in half and burnt food was really sub par given the asking price burnt potatoes three slices" processed not real" gyro meat two eggs ran 10$ i have 25 yrs experience in the service industry unfortunetly we all c places like this that think u should pay extra to be in the presence of them

Food was a hit or miss. 1 persons was one of the most delicious things ever, and then the two others were just ok. Seating area was a little tight, but was still able to fit a wheelchair under a table without too much interruptions to other tables.

Had lunch here while visiting Cleveland. I thought it was fantastic. I had the Cuban and it was great. Service was quick and friendly. The cafe is a bit small but atmosphere was nice. Would stop by again next time Im in the area.

Pros: amazing tasting food Cons: Waitresses were touching customers food, then handling money, then eating food, then wiping mouths...Then the cycle would start over. They didnt wash their hands once or put on a pair of gloves.

One of the best breakfast places in town. Booze can be expensive... (01/07/17) I had a mimosa with breakfast... Breakfast $8 Mimosa $9. Overall it was a great experience and I always recommend this place to everyone.

I regularly eat breakfast at this place. The market breakfast with eggs, home fries, and toast is my favorite. Service is very fast even when they are busy! A great place to eat.
