Three Stars is the highest I can go. 1 Star for the cozyness of the restaurant. I love how it seems to be more of a local homey estalishment. 1 Star for the coffee, even though its published as some kind of gourmet to account for the cost. 1 Star for the grits. As raised Southern Im very familiar with grits. This meets my personal standards of how grits should taste! The thing is I ordered the hash thinking hash browns. All kinds of material in the hash, which gives it an appearance I surely didnt like. The taste for my pallet was way worse. Yet staff was quick to change it to grits. That was awesome in my personal opinion. Im sure this is a popular establishment for a really good reason. Just as a breakfast guy it didnt fit my cup of coffee. The prices for the food seems to fit the popularity of the establishment, vice the taste of the food. The taste of the pancakes not so good. Texture was more like corn meal than flour. Pork belly bacon way too much fat. So the last two stars could have been earned if the taste of the food was better and the prices more reasonable. Ive been to breakfast places 3x the size with one cook and one staff. The prices for what I ate was almost 1/2 the cost of Jack Flaps at these other establishments. Feel free to choose for yourself. My first visit to the establishment should not be your decision. My bottomline is the prices are just not worth another visit.

Positive: waitress Nicole was wonderful. My cousin had lemon curd pancakes with blueberries--- they were awesome. Another cousin had buttermilk pancakes with fresh sliced bananas also awesome. And the Cinnamon Roll French toast was great. Everything seasoned very well. If you dont like salt and pepper already in your eggs please be sure to let them know. Home fries my party had mixed feeling about the taste (root vegetable home fried) Negative: space was quite small. While bussing tables we had to ask worker to clean floor before we were seated even though she saw large chunks of food all over the floor that someone could step on and possibly slip on if youre not paying attention, she wasnt happy to do it but she did clean it up. 3 of us had shrimp and grits which came out a little cold. There wasnt a lot of grits or shrimp so that was a bummer but there was lots of gravy. Pork belly is served instead of bacon which was tasting but a little undercooked for my taste. It took awhile for food to come out then everything didnt come out at the same time. Some of us were either done or half done by the time everyone was served. It was a little busy so Ill give them another try some time but Ill be sure to order what they are known for which are flap jacks or French toast because they were amazing Sorry I forgot to take a picture

Not happy with this place. I came here on Saturday May 13th. As soon as I walked in with my girlfriend, we noticed how hot it was in the restaurant, even though it wasnt even crowded. I also noticed that they were blasting heavier rock music, despite the fact that they had a blown speaker that made it sound TERRIBLE! It was so annoying. If they couldnt turn off the broken speaker then they honestly shouldve just turned off the music. After sweating my balls off just looking through the menu, I decided I would ask about the Jack Flaps burger. Its $11, but it sounded surprisingly plain from the description. To my further surprise, the server told me that it was "very thin." So you expect me to pay $11 for a thin and plain cheeseburger? We decided to leave right then. If I want to eat a thin and plain burger while sweating and listening to a loud broken speaker, Ill grab some Wendys and head to a sauna with my iPhone speaker on blast. It would cost half as much too. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because I want this place to improve and survive, along with the rest of the 5th street arcade in downtown. In the meantime Ill keep going to Yours Truly.

This small restaurant focusing on brunch is yet another gem in Cleveland. You will undoubtedly have to wait to get a table and they usually have a bare minimum number of servers so, in the winter when people are lined up by the door, they may not even take your name. But it all works as everyone patiently waits for the next table. This may also mean you may end up sharing a table with others. But despite all this, this place gets a 5 star because of the food. A selection of amazing sweet waffles and savory brunch options await the patient diner. Coffee is served in to go cups so you can ask for a refill on the way out as well. The food is fresh, delicious, and the savory menu is just the right portion whole the waffles may be worth taking home for a dessert later. The grits with cinnamon butter is worth trying as a side dish as well. Especially paired with a mildly spicy breakfast bahn mi. Block off some time, be patient, and you will be well rewarded!

Came here with a friend during their happy hour (an hour before they close). Pancakes and waffles are only $5! We decided since it was so cheap (happy hour) wed get a typical breakfast of eggs, sausage, hash and then get a pancake on the side. All I can say is wow. First, eggs were cooked perfectly. I cant stand undercooked eggs, its gross, so they were on point here. The sausage was outstanding. They added something green to it give it a freshness and it was not greasy. The hash was great, we both tried their root hash and i couldnt be more pleased. Skip the potatoes and get this, you wont be disappointed. Last....the pancake. I got the lemon curd and berry pancake and was happy with my choice. I couldnt even eat half because of the big breakfast and this pancake mix as huge! Great flavor combination of a sour type of lemon curd and a sweet berry compote.

Very small location and quite a popular breakfast spot so get here early if you want to avoid a wait. That being said, you probably wont have to wait terribly long and there is seating at a central bar where you can wait and get coffee or tea. Not a great place for large groups and definitely not good if youre in a hurry. Jack flaps exudes a casual atmosphere and this extends to the service. The place feels quite personable and friendly. The menu even encourages the patron to put down their phone and have a good conversation. The staff is small but very friendly. Like I said before though, dont expect to get in and out of here quickly if youre in a rush. When Ive gone there have only ever been two waiters. A review of the food is easy: its fantastic. Their core menu is unique and delicious and they also have a rotating seasonal menu to accompany it.

I was scheduled for an interview today with Rachael. I arrived a few minutes early and the nice young man said she just arrived. He sat me at a table by the employee only door and said thats where she conducts her interviews. Another gentleman Im assuming was the manger came by and looked in the door and left. I sat there for a half hour before that gentleman came back and told me I would not be interviewed because I was 2 minutes late. I was early and I was told by Rachael interviews were going from 1-5. Im a 50 yr old women that is very good at her job. I fit in with any genre. I should of at least got the courtesy interview that you know you wont be called back. Its really disappointing that people no longer have kindness and respect for others. Just because I didnt fit her profile I deserved more from this company.
