Our family has dined at this restaurant numerous times but the last two times weve visited it has been unbearably hot in there. So hot this time that we couldnt even eat our dinner! A friend who also dined there the same night said the thermostat was next to their table and it was 88 degrees! Ive dined at several Japanese steak houses that cook the food at the table and never had this experience. When I advised the manager of our dissatisfaction she told me that it was because the exhaust fan takes the hot air out but circulates it back into the building. (That doesnt sound like an "exhaust" fan to me!) She also said it was because it was so hot outside. I can assure you the last time we were there a couple months ago, it was not as hot outside and the temperature inside was miserable then too. Food is good but when I pay that much for a meal, I would like to be able to eat it when its fresh off the grill. We wont be back!

The first time my fiance and I went to Tokyo we ate in the hibachi area. Our waiter was more concerned with taking tequila shots with three girls at our table than doing his job. Our drinks were only filled one time, by another waitress, the entire time we were eating. The food we ordered was cooked perfectly but was missing seasoning. We decided that we would give their sushi bar a try a few weeks later and we quickly regretted it. Our waiter was a guy, who we assumed was also the bartender, spent most of his time flirting with a girl who worked there. Our sushi came out with fish scales, extremely salty, and it tasted almost like the fish had been mushed by hand before putting it into the rolls. We will not be returning. There are far better options for Japanese cuisine.

The atmosphere was right, the Sushi Chef was awesome, food was perfect! At the Sushi bar. I was there with my wife and we had a good time, until we went to leave, one of the kitchen workers was sitting at the bar, and blurted out to my wife, "Hey are you Chinese"! At which time she kindly said , " no Im Filipino "! And he replied, " oh, you like to eat coconut s "! She started to cry when we got outside, and I felt like going back in and telling him how rude that was of him to do! My wife said not to worry, he was just poor uneducated Chinese worker and probably washed dishes there! Lesson learned here, prejudice is prejudice, and keep the help in the kitchen! We wont be back!

Best Hibachi spot in Winston bar none. Its a style of food and entertainment my whole family loves and weve been to all of the popular hibachi spots in the area and this is the best. Customer service and the entertainment supplied by the Chefs here along with the comfortable and clean atmosphere is what sets this spot apart from the others. My 4 year old loved the smoking train made out of onion rings on the grill and every chef weve had were enthusiastic and friendly when making our meals. Highly recommended for the entire family.

Tokyo is the best Hibachi Steakhouse in Winston. Every chef is friendly, outgoing; no sullen clock-punchers just getting thru the shift. Food is always excellent - know what you are ordering, dont expect the regular steak to be without fat - order filet if you want lean. The sriracha sauce is massively flavorful without being so hot you cant taste it…but hot! This is the only place that gives you BOTH udon noodles AND fried rice, not either/or. This is our favorite "special occasion" place.

People were nice, food was pretty bland. Soup was basically like low/no sodium chicken broth. They serve noodles with their dinner combinations here and mushy friend bananas at the end. At other japanese places that cook in front of you, those two things are left out, but the flavors are much better at other similar places. I will say our chef took care to not scare the pants off our toddler anymore after the first fire "trick" he did nearly lighting us all aflame.

We prefer Tokyo to any other Japanese steakhouse because they serve all the fixings, meals are served with onion soup, salad, 3 pc shrimp appetizers, entree includes your choice of beef, chicken, seafood, zucchini, onion, with noodles and rice. Then, if youre still not full, sweet sesame grilled bananas for dessert are also included. Delicious drinks from the full bar, fresh sushi, and a fun little show as they prepare dinner before your eyes

This could be 5 star. Only reason its not is because the last couple times Ive been, the appetizer shrimp is not being deveined. Ive been coming here for years and they used to devein it- grosses me out. Thinking about going somewhere else next time because of this. other than that- excellent drinks, food and sushi- also, they can handle large groups well- just devein the shrimp and Im sure a lot of people would appreciate it!

I absolutely love this place. The food is awesome, along with a good atmosphere! Cooks are entertaining and the servers are always on it!!! I always order a Washington apple and the bartenders always go out of their way to make sure its exactly the way I want it. We live in mount airy, but we never hesitate on driving down here. We wouldnt choose any other Japanese resturant! Management is great!!! We love you all! 10 star :)

This was the worst experience me and my family has ever had at a restaurant.. The rice was not done..Then a bug was in my girlfriend food and everybody at the table including the Chef seen it..When manager was told about it they acted like we were trying to get a free meal!..This was totally discrimination/prejudice due to the fact that we are Black....I Would not recommend any nationality to eat at that restaurant

My husband, 4 year old son, 1 year old daughter, and I just had an early dinner here and were very pleased with our experience. The waiter and chef were friendly -- great service! My son wanted to eat where "they cook at the table" so we found Tokyo online and Im so glad we did. We will definitely be going back. Another plus for my son was the koi pond out front which was a beautiful surprise

My boyfriend and I love going here, we normally go 1-2 times a month. The past 3 times weve went the noodles have had an odd flavor, Idk if theyve changed the type of noodles they use or butter. Something is different. I thought maybe it was a one time thing, but apparently not. Everything else is great though but the noodles have always been our favorite so we may try to find another place

Rude chef Mr T. Gave wrong steak, overcooked it and undercooked scallops. When we complained he yelled at us and complained to other guests at the table. When we spoke with manager she offered a discount of 10%. We continued to complain and she finally said, just go, When you come back ask to not have Mr T. Waitress was great and very apologetic. Recommend gas station sushi over this place.

We have enjoyed the sushi and habachi here for years. The sushi is always fresh and the habachi experience is always entertaining along with the awesome food. We always tend to gravitate to the sushi bar on date nights to enjoy both the wonderful food and the excellent service. Sheila is awesome!! We would make the 45 minute drive just to chat with her. I highly recommend the experience!!
