Have been dining at Ishi now Ise for quite a few years. The decor was always a bit downmarket and basic but the food was excellent and the staff were friendly and competent. Over the past few months things began to go wrong, the staff were constantly changing, the service became haphazard and then the food began to go downhill rapidly. After two very disappointing visits decided to give it anther chance and see if they had got their act together. Ugh. The food was terrible, limp, old salad, tasteless sushi, hibachi which was part hot and part ice cold. The two waiters had no idea of the menu and kept asking us to point out what we wanted. Most of our order was wrong and the rest did not materialize. One of the waiters, a very young southern boy, thought the food was funny! Not sure why a successful business has allowed itself to deteriorate to this extent but after three chances we will not be wasting our time or money again. What a shame.

We were only in town for one night. Sweet potatoes was recommended . We decided to go for lunch with our dog. It was a mild day and they have a bench outside so we sat on the bench with our dog and ate.we ordered the food to go, when I arrived at restaurant I was greeted by a nice man with a smile, he knew right off who I was, then I went to the bar to pick up my food and again the gentlemen behind the bar recognized my voice, from the phone. The staff is very nice . Now for the food, delicious, my husband had chicken sandwich with fries, I had the blt which is made with fried green tomatoes. Really good. So glad we made the stop before we left town.hopefully we will get back there some day.prices very reasonable

Yuck! Never coming back here - was recommended that they had great sushi - what a disappointment! Ordered (after waited forever for server to come to table!) their Teriyaki dinner and Alaska Roll. Chicken was undercooked, the rice was hard and the teriyaki sauce was verfy salty. The sushi was OK, but "fishy" tasting and smell -definately not fresh. Have gotten better sushi a Harris Teeter after it was sitting in their cooler all day - Waited for server originally, waited too long for the food and then waited again for the bill (server never came back to table while eating) and then waited to pay - Definately a NO GO! for me!

Why is it that I cant find a sushi restaurant that has one japanese speaker? Fish was not fresh, rice was mushy, the nori was soggy, and lastly it was a waste of money. I tried several different types of fish, the salmon only being somewhat close to acceptable, the yellow tail and tuna were horrific. VERY VERY overpriced for the poor quality and small amount of fish. They try to fill you up with rice, the nigiri was placed atop a mountain of rice, very hard to eat in one bite. Would not recommend, never going again. Still searching for good sushi in winston salem that can remind me of home... no luck so far.

Miso soup was good. There was an issue with my order and the cook found it OK to pick through my plate and just add raw broccoli to my hibachi steak. Very bland and those great bursts of flavor that I normally experience were definitely missing. No discount given after explaining myself. Will not return to this poor excuse for Japanese food.

Absolute best sushi in Winston Salem. No Contest! We go to ISE regularly and love it. The sushi is great. The service is always great. The hibachi is great (but why bother when the sushi is so good) as are the spring rolls, egg rolls and everything else weve ever gotten there. Great place. Dont let the outward appearance fool you!

Great Japanese spot ... theyre is also one off of Cloverdale (not sure if theyre operated jointly). Fresh ingredients, fast and friendly service! I dont eat seafood, so I cannot speak to their sushi, however I have not had a dish I did not like here.

Full of wake college students so its crowded and busy on the weekends. sushi is pretty good but I go for the hibachi which is the best ive had in Winston. Waiters are always very nice and very attentive to drink refills.

Thoroughly enjoyed our sushi and hibachi. We had to "flag down" a server anytime we needed anything. They forgot to enter in half our order and never apologized. Very disappointed in the service.

This is a great fast Japanese restaurant (not the kind that cooks in front of you). The service is excellent and the food is top notch. I dont eat sushi, but friends say it is good.

Best reasonably priced sushi and hibachi in Winston for the past 10 years easily. Especially the friendly pyramid or queen roll. Service has gone way down last 4-5 years.

A very good sushi place in Winston Salem. Small and tucked away it is easy to miss, but dont miss out. Food was delicious and quickly served.
