Been going there for 20+ years, really good country food. Great service, the waitresses are wonderful. However today my husband ordered the quarter fried chicken, black Eyed peas, sweet potatoes. ...everything was good except the chicken, the breast piece was missing the bulk part of the meat, looked like someone had cut that piece off, it was mostly bone? ?? He asked for a real chicken breast, the waitress came back saying they couldnt because it would be a waste of the other pieces in the pack.?? Dont care. ..just want my chicken! Right? They just cant do it but we can give you something else. Wait so youll make me a whole new plate but you cant make right what I ordered? What happened to making the customer happy, especially one that has been a dedicated customer for years, has always told people about how good you are and referred people here? ?? Wow. ..that just didnt sit right with us. My husband loves dessert and even turned that down! He finally handed the waitress his whole plate and said just please take this off the check. We assured the waitress it wasnt her fault after she apologized about 6 times and it didnt affect her tip! This is the owners son. ..advice to him. The customers food should never come out like that and you need to figure out how to always make your customers happy so they will return! We will go back and hopefully this doesnt happen again, it bothers me that the waitresses have to come back and answer for this kind of silliness. Trying to make it alright, its just not fair to them.

The food was decent enough, but the service was plainly terrible. Had to ask for silverware, waitress was in too much of a rush to correctly get all the elements of our very simple order. Coffees were filled without us being asked, first, ice water was brought instead of a cup of ice, and someone besides our server had to get the missing silverware. Space was at a premium, and the table felt cramped and jumbled together with the rest, so that you can barely walk between them. Tables are covered with ads for services and goods which are completely irrelevant for tourists - which must be the bulk of their business, given location and season. Prices were decent, but there was no real value, given quality of food and service. We may return to Atlantic Beach, but we wont be eating here, again.

My family found Cox’s Family Restaurant through looking at Tripadvisor, and had we have not known about it, we would have missed a gem of a little place. It is little, as an older one-story building tucked between some other businesses on the busy highway, but every time we have been it has been bustling. You get an amazing amount of food for the price, with bread/hushpuppies and a dessert to go with your usual meat and two veggie entrees. The beef tips and rice are our favorite, but the last time I got baked chicken and basically got half of a bird! A family of four can get a lot of food for less than $30. It is definitely a locals hangout, and the kind of place where the waitresses stop for a minute to talk to the regulars.

If this rating system were on a scale of 1 - 5 for racism, then Cox Family Restaurant would get a 5. While consuming a mediocre omelette and a terrible cup of coffee (even for diner standards) after a recent camping trip to the nearby national forest, I overheard a waitress relay her own special comment about the recent events in Ferguson, MO to a regular. The regular enjoyed her attempt at humor and decided to share his own joke about the racial turmoil in Missouri. Both used racial slurs. Both thought they were hilarious. Neither of them apparently understood that the internet exists. To summarize: Omelettes C- Coffee F Racism A+

My wife and I first time there the service was great! On the other hand the food was terrible. I had hamburger steak and gravy with rice. The gravy taste like it came straight out of a can. The coleslaw supposed to be home made it didnt taste all that great either. I personally think they need to try a different seasoning because that one is not working at all. My wife had steak, shrimps and green beans, I tell you straight out of a can. This is the first restaurant my wife has not eaten all her shrimps. If you are use to bad seasoning then you will love this food.

My families favorite place to come for breakfast. The children love to get the Mickey Mouse pancake with bacon. My favorite is the home fries that cook on the grill and get so crunchy on the side that lays on the grill and I always ask them to add some grilled onions for me. You can request about any breakfast item here and they will prepare it for you. A favorite of all the locals all year long!!! They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I have eaten lunch at breakfast before and breakfast for lunch here. Great family affordable restaurant!

Andy the manager here is such an amazing and helpful gentlemen!! Our first experience didnt go as planned and when I talked to him about it he was sincerely concerned and apologetic. He told us to come back and give them another try, when we did the service was simply the best and the food couldnt have possibly been better!! When we went to leave Andy had picked up or check!! They definitely care about their customers and they have us for life!! Im slowest planning to congee back with my mother this week!!

Me and the wife have been coming here ever since we meet at the beach 5 years ago, and we will continue to come here every year when we take our Vacation to Atlantic beach. The price for the amount of food you get is well worth it, we never spend more than 20$ and we always have at least 1 full take home box. If you havent been here yet you have to at least try it, who knows, maybe you will make it a tradition as well. Enjoy

Oh my!!! We ate here twice. The food is fantastic. We told them we was on our honeymoon. The "BOSS" as the waitress call him. Sent out fresh strawberry cheesecake. Then when we was leaving gave us another piece for a gift. We loved our waitress. But, unfortunately I didnt get her name. Go eat there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every thing we got was delicious.

Food was excellent, service was fast, and prices reasonable. Tables were really small, place was kinda dirty and the cashier was incredibly rude. She may have been mad because she was forced to wear a button on her shirt saying "lose weight ask me how" despite being morbidly obese. Regardless she was not pleasant and pretty much ruined the place.

It seems to be a great local joint, that has served many generations, since 1976. Actually, I personally saw the younger 20-something crowd, the 30-somethings with their kids, and the older generations enjoying some awesome southern favorites. Plus, any place that serves breakfast all day long, gets my vote, every time.
