UPDATED REVIEW- I was a frequent customer at Forbidden City for years- virtually the only Chinese restaurant I ever returned to. However, about 6 months ago, the restaurant got a new head chef and the food has just not been the same. I have ordered many things on the menu- shrimp/pork fried rice, chicken/beef lo mein, egg rolls, mongolian beef, General Tsos chicken- and they all have changed drastically. The fried rice is always soggy (I didnt even know rice could BE soggy!), whenever I order anything with pork or beef I usually send it back or eat what I can and never take the leftovers (and let me just say, I was a server and I dont like to send food back and if I do I am still always polite about it, it has to be reallllllyy bad for me to send back). The pork and beef is usually chewy- I know chinese restaurants never get the best cuts or quality of meats to begin with but the meats have been chewy, fatty, undercooked and limpy- just gross. The chicken dishes are basically the same. I returned about 3 times since the first incident- restaurants have off days- but it has not gotten any better :( This used to be my favorite and best chinese restaurant EVER, and now I am not sure I will return WITH THAT BEING SAID- the front of house staff is great, always very kind, always remembers me and what I like, and for that I have great respect, however I do not think I will be back.

We were disappointed to find out that their spring rolls contained meat and were not suitable for vegetarians. We were also very concerned with their response to an incorrect order! My wife ordered the Chinese vegetables steamed. They brought out a plate that contained vegetables and chicken. They apologized and went back to the kitchen claiming they were going to make a new plate. My wife ate some of the vegetables on top and then packed up the rest to take home. As she was scooping the rest into a take out box, we found all kinds of pieces of chicken on the plate. It turns out they took the food into the back and picked out the pieces of chicken and brought it back out! That is absolutely not acceptable for a vegetarian, and we wished that we had seen it sooner so we could have asked for a new dish. We will not be visiting again, and we will be telling as many people as we can to avoid this restaurant. Clearly they value saving money over serving their customers with respect.

Worst time ever 9/2/2017. I am a college student at McDaniel college and therefore I walk to this place to get my food . I ordered shrimp and broccoli over the phone and when I went to go get it in the cold rain,15 minute walk. The owner gave me the wrong order he gave me chicken with onions(by the way this doesnt not look like chicken) The chicken was so slimy and it did not look like chicken at all. I could not walk back to the restaurant and they would not bring my order to me for messing it up. Then the owner said that I would have to pay $1.00 extra for delivery and they dont even delivery. I opened my white rice box, I found a stample hidden inside of the rice. The owner and a another lady was talking in Chinese for 15 minutes straight and the owner kept going back and forth arguing, I told him to just put the money back on my credit card . Now I have nothing to eat. I am so disappointed. The owner aint care that he made a mistake on my order so unprofessional.

The majority of the time the food is good. My daughter loves the dumplings from this place only. The shrimp and lobster sauce is delicious. My husband likes general tsos chicken, it could be spicier, but it still tastes great. As stated above the food dishes have been a success, yet there have also been disappointments such as the fried rice and Singapore noodles. The fried rice vegetables were under cooked and did not have much flavor. The Singapore noodles did not look like Singapore noodles and did not have any curry. This could have been an off night. Overall, the food was great.

Ive been going to Forbidden City for over 20 years at this point. It is a diamond in the rough from your typical carry-out Chinese restaurant. I definitely recommend eating in. The wonton soup is by far the best Ive ever had with cabbage, chicken and shrimp mixed in with the wontons and broth. The shrimp balls are an amazing appetizer. Every dish Ive gotten there has not disappointed, although Im partial to the Shrimp and Scallop in Garlic Sauce and Kung Po Chicken. The staff is always friendly and excellent and remember your name. I highly recommend trying out Forbidden City.

This is not my usual Chinese restaurant to go to but a friend of mine was telling me how impress they were with this restaurant so I decide to give it a try. I was disappointed that they put onion in their chicken with broccoli and my kids were not able to eat it. I had try their lo mein and wonton soup too. The lo mein werent much not flavor to it and too oily. I will not be going back.

Absolutely worst Singapore Noodles I have ever had. Im not even a picky eater. I couldnt identify the meat in it. It should have shrimp but had none. I will never order from them again. I only clicked on the 1st star so I could post it. I wish I could have not clicked any. I usually give the benefit of the doubt but not tonight. So bad!!!

My wife and I have been eating at Forbidden City for 20 years and we agree that it was very good. However, the last three visits(two carry-out and one dine-in) have been terrible. In fact, the dine-in experience was horrific. The meat was not edible...it was absolutely disgusting. I do not know what happened, but we are finished(sadly) with FC.

My husband and I have been eating here for 18 years. This is the best Chinese Restaurant around. So I dont know what the negativity is all about. We havent had a bad meal here ever in 18 years, so it must be good. The shrimp toast is a must have!!

They treat you like family, and the food is amazing. I like the traditional Chinese restaurant style, with complimentary hot tea and wonton chips. Their fried rice and won ton soup are top notch. We have been coming here for 31 yrs now.

Great food, I loved the Forbidden City Shrimp. I was comfy with the atmosphere and the food came quick with friendly service. It was delicious and the price was affordable. What more can you ask for?
