Ok for starts I wanted a day by the water to eat a good meal! I got the good view absolutely stunning..But the food was embarrassing! I am a cook and a bartender! I take pride in my food that comes out my kitchen. I ask the waitress what was their specialty! She just said anything with the logo next to the name! Well I choose their paradise Angus burger! Sounded yummy! and I order a side of slaw...okay well after my unique take of the hushpuppies bites (which were ok) the zesty ranch made a horrible blend...I would of went with a whip cream cheese butter (something u Polly not know about) because the hushpuppies were a jalapeno spice taste......anyhow my entre came out and the fry’s look good! You can’t screw up fries...but the burger yuck! I didn’t pay for a $10 dollar bubba burger,(frozen patty) and the cheese was cold..A cheeseburger is suppose to be hot melted cheese (especially if its cheddar cheese)!!! The bun should have been warmed from off the grill! Not as cold as my tomato! Just was awful! I took one little nibble and NOOOO taste to my frozen patty! Ha-ha then I took a bite to my Cole slaw to get the burger taste out of my mouth. It was like I was eating Wet Plastic! I sent the food back to the waitress as kind as I could did not B***h at all just simply said ..."I just don’t like it" it’s nasty! And I’m not going to pay for it. But I will pay for everything else! ...well she sends I guess the manager out and she asked what was wrong. I simply asked was the hamburger fresh? Or a frozen shipped in patty (thought it’s your specialty ha-ha) she said she didn’t know!!! WOW really you’re a floor manager and don’t know what your serving!!! Then I said the slaw was bland (no taste) she says “ I know it has no taste” & it is bland”! ..Huh??? WTF!!!!! You knew it tasted like crap!? why would you send it out to PAYING CUSTOMERS! OMG YALL SUCK! I paid for NASTY FROZEN PROCESSED FOOD WITH NOOOOO TASTE!!!! P.s I paid and went to McDonalds!! JUST TO LET ANYONE KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE WORKD IN SEAFOOD KITCHENS ITALIAN,MAS AND POPS AND BAR GRILL MY WHOLE LIFE AND KNOW JUST ABOUT EVERY ONE FROM WILMINGTON------MRYTLE BEACH ......YOUR FOOD IS NOT FRESH IT IS MAINLY FROZEN PROCCESSD FOOD...RARLY YOU WILL COME ALONG GOOD FOOD! RARELY!!!!!!!!! BUT ALL YALL RESTURANT OWNERS GET UR HEAD OUT YOU’RE A** AND PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOUR SERVERING.THATS WHY UR BUSINESSES FAIL AND IF UR GOING TO SERVE PROCESSD FOOD PLEASE SPICE THE HELL OUT OF IT ! I WANT TO TASTE MY FOOD!!!! HAVE PRIDE IN UR COOKING!!!

I am an out of town visitor... My expectations were not high, but the outcome was worse. There is barely anyone in the place tonight. After seating, it took a while for anyone to attend my table. After talking with the server and going with his shrimp recommendation, he found out they were out if that dish for the night. A good waiter knows what is going on. I settled on the Cajon Crab cake dinner with rice and roasted vegetables. I received a platter with two crab cakes on top of a wild rice and vegetables on the side. The Crab cake was hot, but the vegetables were luke warm to cold and limp. The rice was barely warm. I sent the dish back asking for a remake. The manager came to speak with me and apologized. I explained what the problem was and he said they would fix it. The dish cam back with one Crab cake warmer vegetables, but still limp and warmer, but tasteless rice. The manager also sent over two more Crab cakes as I was finishing up. I could not continue to eat the rice or the vegetables... Someone needs instruct the chef on proper cooking and seasoning. The Crab cakes were supposed to be Cajon. They had barely any spice and one would never know they were Cajon. In the end, I ended with a three Crab Cake appetizer. The bill came in at almost $27 for the meal (no drinks). Would I recommend the place? Not a chance as you can have a great location, but if they cannot cook, why should they have your patronage at these prices? Zero stars would be more appropriate.

Unfortunately my experience here was not good. I sat down with a party of 5 and we couldnt even get a glass of water. I really wanted some great seafood and of course was prepared to review the business. 4 separate servers repeatedly walked by our table over and over for a solid 25 minutes. I was going to get the shrimp and grits. I thought $17.95 was high and figured after drinks and what not Id be spending over $150. That was ok with me if the food and service were good, but the service was non-existent and Ill never know how the food is. The table beside me did have their drinks and they were sitting there twiddling their thumbs the entire time I was there. I asked them if they had ordered, and they said they had ordered food around 45 minutes ago. At that point I decided there were definitely some problems and I didnt want to sit around yet another hour, so we got up and left. The very young hostess saw all of us leaving and didnt say a word. Half of the tables were empty and there seemed to be too many employees, so I have no idea what the issue was. Next door was a restaurant with an extremely friendly staff & an open kitchen that took my order and had awesome seafood in front of me in 10 minutes flat.

Avoid this restaurant if you are ever in Southport! Only good thing I can say is the view was amazing. My family and I went for lunch over Labor Day weekend and the wait wasnt long so it looked very promising and the smells were appealing. The service started out fair to good and finally made it to horrible by the time we were wrapping up. The food was way way overpriced and the quality was only average at best. I ordered a fried flounder basket that I expected to share with my small daughter which was a big mistake. The piece of fish was extremely small and greasy, but the chips were decent. My husband ordered the buffalo shrimp wrap which he said was tasty but only a few hours later ended up upsetting his stomach. It took our food over 45 minutes to get to our table and the server only said that the kitchen was backed up. I suppose running a restaurant on Labor Day weekend you dont consider having an overstaffed kitchen a priority! Our meal was a huge disappointment and the service was only average. Please dont waste your time or money at Fishy Fishy. BTW this is my first ever review of anything online but thats how disappointed we were.

I hardly ever write reviews but felt that I must for Fishy Fishy Cafe. Amazing! Absolutely Amazing. Im from Ohio, and will only vacation to the beach. Ive been on both sides of Florida, and all up the East Coast and always look for place like Fishy Fishy. It is a fun casual place on the dock of Southport but has a bit of sophistication to it. You would be comfortable wearing shorts and a nice Tee or fine getting dressed up a bit. The food was amazing. Our table ordered the calamari appetizer (wonderful), the sesame seed encrusted yellow fin tuna with Thai sauce (beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly), the crab cakes (98% crab and delicious), the the fried shrimp platter (the best cooked shrimp we ever had), and the NY strip (cooked exactly to order and seasoned perfectly). The server Matt (amazing criole accent) was so nice and professional, a perfect example of southern hospitality. Served the women first, yes maam, no sir. The sunset view over the sailing boats and fishing vessels were just breathe taking. Wonderful wonderful wonderful. This is my absolutely favorite vacation restaurant. You are an idiot if you dont go.
